What If smite and exhaust were autolocked from champ select

When you queue as jungle you automatically get smite and can pick one other summoner spell. Same goes for exhaust. This will solve the jungle problem and... Here me out. The summoner spell exhaust could be linked to support items like the jungle items so that only supports could get them. Then you could add a gold income modifier to them and supports wouldn't be so much lower gold tan the rest of their team. Let's face it that 2 gold per 10 seconds is nowhere near what any laner or jungler makes In Gold. The reason the bandit mastery and the support items are not overloaded is because of abuse but if only supports had exhaust like the jungle items linked to smite it would open up possibilities for supports.

Exhaust isn't inherently a support spell, with ignite being a strong contender in a variety of match ups. Similarly, exhaust is useful in lots of non-bot lane match ups.

Theres a lot of support tweaks coming next patch so they should keep up in level usually. Keeping up in gold would likely defeat the purpose (if you can make the same gold as someone getting kills and cs without needing to get either of those things, then there'd be a new 5 support meta), but gold generally isn't a particularly limiting factor for supports building like supports (I'm frequently full build before my adc), and I'd be wary of a situation where supports could afford to build like carries, as you know plenty of people would actually do so.

I wouldn't say yes for Exhaust, since I tend to use it a lot in the mid lane, as and against Yasuo mostly.

Also lots of supports sometimes want Ignite.

And not just off meta supports.

Mm Id rather smite be an active on the machete or talisman, free up some more play variety.

Exhaust just no, as mid laners use this against Zeds and the like and this would create less play variety.

As for support gold income I think if your a supp you "link" your item to your adc for the laning phase and that acts as a gold modifier, this way nothing is taken away but it is "promoted" to be used in the duo lane, this could also have some very interesting effects in double jungle

modified exhaust would be a cool addition to the game. Just like blue/red smite we could have situational summoners that make a much bigger impact. maybe a green exhaust that lowers the dmg reduction and reduces the slow but adds on a hard stun, or a purple exhaust with an even bigger reduction to dmg dealt and a reduction to healing received.

actually this could solve quite a few meta issues for riot.

Yellow > Speed on Allies, Slow on enemies (AoE) Green > Remove Stun on Allies, Stun Enemies (Single Target, completed item only, so not to be abused early) Blue > AP Resist Aura Red > Armour on allies, Armour shred on enemies (so reduces tackiness of late game) completed item only and is an Aura, like Locket. Purple > Vision ?

just off the top of my head, maybe merge armour/ap together to save on item bloat, even the stun/speed could be merged to further save on bloat.

And they don't even have to stop there. They could start making items for all the summoners. Would be nice to see a match where everyone doesnt have flash for a change.

Only way to do that would be to make it a trinket it's too good to not take on most champs

Actually I wouldn't mind that. Replace vision control trinket with a mobility based trinket means you sacrifice tactical control of the map for more control in a fight. Some characters just have too much control over how and when they interact and escape atm.

I like the idea of smite as active for jungler's item

I could see Smite being automatically selected (but not locked) for the player assigned the jungle role. After all, you do have to accommodate players trading roles.

However, they should not bind Exhaust to the Support role. Supports will often take Ignite (and occasionally Heal) and limiting their options is both unnecessary and counter-intuitive. Quite frankly, supports are supposed to have lower gold than the other roles because they aren't CSing; that is the trade-off they make and the gold generation items plus inexpensive itemization are rather good at keeping them relevant.

Exhaust isn't locked to the Support role like how Smite is locked to the Jungle role. I personally take Teleport whenever I go Braum so I can get to people faster, Ignite when I go Morgana so they can't anti-peel heal, and Exhaust when I go Tahm because FUCK YOU you don't get to live.

Locking a spell would also cause problems for role swapping; and if you want to implement a thing for swapping roles like you swap champions, well RIot has to code in a whole bunch of shit to lock an item to supports, huh? This would not open up possibilities for supports; it would constrict possibilities for supports. Heavily.

Plenty of non-supports take exhaust, and quite a few supports would much rather take ignite. That proposal is unnecessarily limiting to summoner spell choices.

about half of supports use ignite

this is the most stupid thread I've seen

then no one can get exhaust unless they que as support LMAO

"Hey guys I'm Azir but since I'm not que as support I can't get exhaust to fight against Zed Leblanc Fizz "
