riot is balancing the game pacing and game time not around how fun they can make it, but how short they can make it and how much stress players can take. the average game times this patch are still around 25 to 26 minutes, and it doesnt look like they are intent to slow down and pressure you less into constantly fighting your enemies over some small objective.

theyre saying they dont really know how to fix gold funneling in the jungle without making the jungle overall "less interactive". which means they dont want to make junglers farm more, so they can keep having tons of time on their hands and can nonstop spam gank lanes to make the game enjoyable for viewers.

You realize this is talking about draft* champion select***?

This isn't game time.

Your post is horribly misleading and dishonest.

its about the attitude that is displayed here. it doesnt just concern champ select. but i will edit the op, since it wasnt my intention to mislead anyone. i just didnt notice that the graph wasnt labled any further.

i realized, that the game as a whole has become a lot more stressful in the past few seasons than it used to be.

riot has increased the density and value of objectives more and more while cutting overall game times as far as possible. there is constantly something on the map that forces you to contest and fight your opponent.

  • you have to race to turret first blood
  • you have to contest dragons and rift herald
  • in between you have to contest scuttle crabs or help your jungler secure them
  • baron is a whimp, so at 20 minutes expect baron attempts
  • farm junglers arent a thing anymore, since junglers have enough free time to constanly gank lanes
  • even cannon minions in lane have become an important objective to fight over or deny

games have overall become faster paced and leave you shorter windows to slow down and think about your next steps.

they have done their hardest to not give you any room for a moment of passive gameplay anymore.

its like theyre displaying the same attitude they have here towards champ select, towards game pacing overall. they want to make these games as short as possible, and at the same time make you fight your opponent as much as posssible with just stressing players to the point that they can still take it. the idea that the game isnt actually fun to play like that doesnt seem to be their first concern anymore.

Your post is still misleading, because you're entirely misinterpreting what the graph labels are supposed to pertain to.

Champion select is not even remotely any kind of microcosm of an actual game. The reason people can be stressed in champion select is because they have a timer. There's a deadline that they have to beat, an actual hard enforced one, not one that they create in their heads because they think the game will instantly be decided if the enemy team reaches it before they do.

You're making it seem like this graph isn't about champ select.

Why bother trying to be transparent about your intentions to players when the players take what you say and lie?

that wasnt intentional and i already fixed it by labeling the graph.

You should fix it by removing the thread. You drew massive conclusions based on a completely faulty premise just to garner discontent on the boards.

Logically and mathematically that makes a lot of sense because fun is subjective and probably isn’t easy to measure in numbers.

Though it’s still kinda depressing.

but fun isnt even in question when theyre thinking about this.

theyre just testing how far they can stress players out by making their champ slect time, and overall game times as short as possible and then aim for just below that line of maximum tolerance.

But with fun being so objective, it’s not Something you can mathematically measure.

technically you cant measure stress either, when different people have different stress thresholds.

My god. So their metrics for engagement is "bored" and "stressed"? I wonder if that is truly engagement. It seems like endurance.

If we actively don't let games end will riot notice the unspoken protest?

I feel like if enough people who actually care for the state of the game just DIDN'T END the game until like 40-60 minutes in maybe more Riot would be forced to see that the community WANTS challenging and competitive gameplay rather than GG lost in champ select

Ch1efBeefQueef1 votes

I dont think so. If anything they would think they need to shorten games even more. In my mind the only way to get Riots attention would be a mass exodus. But that will never happen. We are all sick and addicted...

Isn't that picture referring to champ select time in draft not game time itself?
