Ornn Item Guide
I've seen a couple people struggling with Ornn, so I wanted to give a few tips from my brief experience with him from the PBE.
Masteries- Important As Ornn you want to invest hardcore into health and mana sustain in Masteries, and always take Bandit. Ornn is innately useful late game due to his QE and Ultimate, so we help him where he needs it: Early Game. Grasp is our Keystone and the important Masteries to take from there are:
- Meditation (Bonus Mana Regen.)
- Bandit (rush items quicker)
- Bonus Shielding and Healing
- Bonus Regeneration (50% increase, 200% below 25% health) All of these combined make Ornn fit for the war of attrition that is his laning phase. Ornn needs to be able to not be forced out of lane either by the enemy or his own mana pool so that he can abuse his passive.
Trap Items:
Ornn does not need better wave clear (a well aimed QE is about enough to make most minions nearly dead or killed) and there are better items for pure stats than Sunfire. For a few Tanks, I would reccomend this item, but not Ornn.
Everything about this item screams yes for Ornn, especially early game, but it's a trap trust me. You want as much CDR as you can get on Ornn late game and Righteous Glory is a much better item for Ornn to get late game. The main up-side of this item is the syenrrgy with his Brittle attacks, but that's a damage boost and Ornn is not used for damage late game and you can't rush this item as it doesn't solve any of Ornn's dire weaknesses early game or allow him to never leave lane.
"But he can use it with his Q!" No, just no please. Ornn is not used for damage and Ornn will only provide at most 3 stacks of the item, which is not worth it.
Early Rush Items
We have two options for Ornn when starting the game:
(if you think you can easily farm at first)
or
(if you think it will be rough out the get go)
Ruby Crystal is an option because we are rushing:
Catalyst helps Ornn a ton since it gives him both sustain and more mana. This is critical as no other item provides such so early on. From there you can get your choice of boots and then build an
. This is the sole item in the game that both boosts Ornn's W + Brittle attack damage while also providing decent tank stats. From there, you can begin your
since Ornn benefits majorly from an initial boost of movement speed to get him into the action after a good R.
Middle-Late Game Items
Finish your
. Then start building an
to max your CDR and get an extra boost when consuming your Brittle with attacks. This should also make sure you never run out of mana. Next, get to building a
or
based on your needs if you have a tank Support or a
or
if you have a squishy support. "Finish" your build with a
since by that time you won't be used for damage anyways and just need to stay alive in a fight, especially if you built
.
Upgrade
Upgrade
unless you really need that extra Armor, upon which you should build
.
I hope this helps a little bit! Have fun out there!
