Player behavior should be a part of the current conversations on MMR. Why you ask?

Lets start with some rapid fire questions. Do you see match quality impacted massively because of your teammates? Are you having a rough ladder experience? Bad teammates who tilt, throw, have tantrums, are costing you matches? Give up if they lose lane and spam /ff even if your team is leading in objs and kills? See your ADC mindlessly splitting side lanes to cs despite there being 2 assassins who can easily farm them? "Yes!" Enthusiastically says the random hypothetical boards users. So time for more questions but this time You ask yourself. Why is Riot giving you these people? What grudge does their MM have with me? Whys MMR failing to make good games? Does riot really HAVE to sabotage my promos with trash teammates like this? WTF is going on?

Short answer... Basically nothing to do with riots MM and MMR. look at the players who are making this an issue.

MMR looks to wins and losses, it only will affect toxic or negative players if they consistently lose games... and that's just a mild response of moving them lower on the ladder. Its never going to solve this issue alone.

MM? Reactive to MMR, it will only build games from the values MMR generates. Again this is not going to look at players.

So you wanna know the true culprit for the influx of trash games? Look to the Players with a trash attitude. Even if its just 1 in 10 that's going to show up in a massive # of games, almost constantly. If they are left alone its only going to create more tilted players in the process it just gets worse.

Player behavior systems are how you punish and remove issue players. Remember how yall reacted when Riot had some one hired for This? Yea he left the company ages ago. Be honest here anyone know who runs that Division for riot now with out having to search for it?

Now don't get me wrong here. I am biased that I really like MMR systems, the work. This is directly a result of when I played mobas with 0 matchmaking and quality control. Lots of the time in Allstars MMR that got used was not universal and easily defeated by common tools like a name spoofer.

I can rant a lot about why I think Riots recent calls where boneheaded and the chaos now was predictable. It basically boils down to adding things to make players feel Better about the ladder and game with out making any real changes.

Want Better matches? Start talking about how to fix the issue of players who make your games suck. MMR is not going to do this ever. Your all wasting your time going after MM and MMR if teammates are your main frustration.

While I agree, unfortunately, this is impossible to fix. Players who make games suck because of stubborn behaviors are the type who won't take advice and who may never learn from their mistakes, so it's something that's just going to "be" unless Riot starts making it bannable to play the game inefficaciously.

Thing is we don't need a perfect fix. Even if players are playing sub par if the over all attitude shifts to be team focused and less selfish the quality of matches goes up. Some of the most fun I have had is doing stupid crap like 5 man support comps or max displacements with friends.

Imo Riot should give up trying to appease players for ranked. Its a competitive que and should have that expectation. The messing around casual stuff should be done in other game types. They wont, they have share holders to answer to. They have employees they owe responsibility for job security. I get it. Band aids for frustrations have been a proven and working method for them. LP system came out and it basically doubled Ranked participation, the ranked competitive ladder then was used to grow the games popularity.

Its super obvious that being a bit stricter for player behaviors in Ranked ques and lowering the % of players who are issues would make the Que significantly less frustrating for players. Riots NEVER gonna do this with out a clear sign that it would make a real impact on player retention and participation. They will lose players if they are harsher And if the # of players who are issues is high then that's a lot of people you stand to lose.

Hence why im trying to get some actual discussion on the topic and I know odds super high that this will just get buried in new and be a dead thread.

Fact is its stupid how everybody and their dog is so focused on top of the ladder. Most people will never climb the ladder, MMR is a statistical system so right there you should know regardless of skill the average players time to climb is infinite. You can find it mentioned in discussions by rioters that the system expects about 50% of the players to only ever lose MMR value.

but what ever, the constant thing your gonna see over and over and over in players complaining is going to be other players but they place the blame on devs because that's who they view as the authority figure and assume control each aspect of the game.

Most of the players base do this occasionnaly. The problem is if you are doing this 1 game out of 10, since there are 10 players in a game, you are going to end up with this kind of behaviour in pretty much every game.

Exactly. Shame I failed to get a proper conversation going. Guess I should make a Poll if I want to try and feel out what the current player perception is. Despite how easy it is to calculate the odds of impact on a game from % coming out of left field and demanding folks talk about Behavior systems seems to have failed to catch most peoples interests.

Edit. I made the poll. https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/PPesqFAu-poll-what-of-playerbase-you-feel-is-tiltedtoxic-on-average?comment=0003
