Rek'sai's new ult really makes me wonder if they test this shit before it goes live

Kr1sys··86 votes·4,873 views

I'm not even sure how you can make an ult that takes a champ that has to be in melee to do anything, give them an ult that allows them to get to that range, and allow it to miss by simply NOT BEING IN THE SAME SPOT 2 SECONDS EARLIER.

Apparently this is a feature of rek'sai's ult several rioters have confirmed it. As a ww main this skill just horrify s me as it seems like it has all the negatives of my R with none of the positives at all.

Automated Riven8 votes

are you serious? The fact you can miss her ult in intentional? WTF?

what the litteral fuck. this is fucking dumb. might as well make it a fucking skillshot then like warwick.

nice table33 votes

but if it was a skillshot you could actually hit it :^)

Automated Riven1 votes

that was my point. The idea that a point and click ability with requirements to even cast can be dodged without popping cooldowns is stupid. at least a skillshot doesnt feel like shit to miss cause you know you could have aimed better.

nice table1 votes

jokes aside the point of it is clearly to make it so you cannot hit it solo, the numbers on it would be way too high if you could actually effectively use it in a 1v1 situation so i guess the idea riot had was to make it so you had to chain it with your team mates CC.

Automated Riven2 votes

The numbers pale in comparison to other champion ults. 100 base damage at level 1 plus 40 percent missing health. That's hardly game breaking damage.

nice table1 votes

garen ultimate at rank 1 does 175 damage + 28% of missing health with no scaling compared to 160% bonus ad while rek sai ultimate also has utility.

ModAcademy Kayn2 votes

And a dash, while Garen's Ult is restrained within his Spin's range (ish).

Automated Riven3 votes

I also vastly exaggerated how much damage it does. I think rank 1 it's closer to 100 +160% ad and 20 percent missing health. That being said garens is situationally true damage.

Pater Gascoigne8 votes

This is terrible design. Like terrible, terrible design. It's meant as an execute ultimate but it won't do damage unless your enemy is hit by hard CC. It doesn't even take skill to dodge it, you literally have to not stand still for it do 0 damage. Just get rid of the damage component and give it some passive utility then.

Take a look

what you linked actually proves this is unintended. they said that being able to dodge with a dash, flash or really high movementspeed is intended. NOT being able to avoid it by simply walking towards rek'sai, the high movement speed he was talking about likely refers to stuff like rammus q and hecarim e not anyone with boots

Karn Bishop2 votes

They only clarified that 2 hours ago, before then rioters were confirming it as an intended mechanic to be able to quickly walk out of it, so i stand by my original comment for the time it was made.

This Rek update is just leaving me sad in general.

It's not just the stupid ult, but it's also that they stripped away all of her utility. No more play-making with knock up. No more objective dominance with R. And here is a direct quote from Riot's post about her rework: "we don’t want to leave her unable to safely teamfight. To help her out, we’re strengthening two of her iconic attributes—her tunnel dashing and her regeneration. New Rek’Sai can re-enter her tunnels more quickly, allowing her to dance in and out of teamfights much more consistently. To make sure she has the health to go back in, her passive generates Fury far more quickly, giving her more regeneration and letting her get combat ready quickly."

Her teamfighting is now a hot smelly crumpled pile of G-A-R-B-A-G-E. Not only is she just too squishy, especially when built with more damage as intended to even survive an engage that only CC's one target, but her tunnel creation cd is hardly any less brutal than it was before, at 14 seconds when max leveled. Her tunnels can also still be destroyed very quickly. On top of that, Her regen, even with regen items is so pathetically low that it is practically non-factor. It Barely helps with her fucking dismal early clear, let alone when she has hp items that give her more overall HP.

To add more insult to injury, this rework came with yet another fucking nerf to her base stats. From there, almost every single ability has recieved accompanying nerfs to some peice of the scaling of an already stat-gutted champion. It is no wonder she is doing so poorly evenw hile being such an easy champion to play.

DeadUnborn1 votes

Its dumb, they did want it to be missable but they udner estimated how easy it is to dodge. Because the ult is so unreliable you can't go for excutes because it is a gamble and if your damage doesn't proc you can die to the enemy champion

Inting Pillow5 votes

That's retarded. I can get hit, watch them channel for two seconds, use my dash on Lucian or whoever is a meta adc and avoid her ult? Absolute bs

Karn Bishop14 votes

you don't have to wait 2 seconds, just start moving it locks the landing location the moment she starts channeling.

SweedishGunner1 votes

You say that but yesterday I had my Rek'Sai ult follow flashes and dashes. I can't pin down when it locks in the location.

ModAcademy Kayn3 votes

God Forbid someone can dodge an ability that does

100/250/400 (+1.6 bonus attack damage) (+20/25/30% target’s missing health)

Profirix8 votes

I understand what you are saying...but its a conditional POINT AND CLICK ability. The user has absolutely 0 control over the outcome. That isn't counterplay...that's just poor design. I'm still thinking that it is a bug.

I hit maybe 60% of my ultimates yesterday when I activated it. The only guaranteed thing was the immediate untargetability.

ModAcademy Kayn2 votes

All the situation's I've seen people use as examples, has always been a 1v1. I've yet to see a Gif based on a teamfight.

That said, I still make my point. It's a 1500 range click and point execution Ult. It'd be absolutely broken if it was 100% garen-teed.

My Heartshaker4 votes

But you have an ultimate ability, of which you have ZERO control over. Even having it as a skillshot where you could AIM would mean you could actually hit it, rather than just based off chance.

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

Saying you have Zero control is like saying Xerath's Ult has zero control. People can dodge it, so if you're saying that's "Zero Control" than Syndra's and Viegar's Ults must be the only that qualify for control.

Durzaka3 votes

You control exactly where you place Xerath's ult. That isnt a comparison at all.

It would be like instead of you picking the direction you ult with Warwick, it just jumped at the nearly enemy without you selecting the direction. That is a loss of control that is stupid.

Ahristocats4 votes

dodging point and click abilities is a shit design like it was said above

i won't go further because they explained it well, and there is a reason no point and click abilities were dodgeable until now in dota2 all point and click abilities are dodgeable by dashing, but rek'sai ult can be dodged literally just by deciding to run in a perpendicular direction which is straight up stupid

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

Rioter in the Patch Note team thread just said that there is too much counterplay involved. It's likely to be changed.

Ahristocats2 votes

of course it needs counterplay, but not like in the current form where rek'sai doesn't get to choose if she hits or not

one of the possible solution is to make it undodgeable except by dashing and then reduce the damage

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

Yeah, that sounds fine. I just didn't like the idea of an unmissable execute from 1500 range.

Melledoneus1 votes

It's only guaranteed if YOU hit them. So the counterplay is DON'T GET HIT BY A MELEE CHAMP. Which should be pretty easy, even with her Q.

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

Garen-teed if you hit them, meaning a basic attack for the mark or the ult itself?

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

An update from the Patch Note thread (Asaeh) says that there may be too much counterplay. None the less, it deserves counterplay.

Profirix1 votes

My only complaint is that you can just walk to the side to avoid it. You should be forced to at least dash or flash.

Doesn't seem that conditional, I'd prefer if it weren't so easily dodged though.

Steelflame28 votes

I think the issue is the Rek'sai player can't aim it like a skillshot either. You may as well just not have an ultimate for most purposes, considering its countered by walking in a strait line and they can't even aim it to try and deal with the delay on the skill.

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

The problem with being able to aim it like a Skillshot is how would it work. Marking them would allow the Ult to only work in X direction would be the first idea, but how limited would X direction be?

Would target in X direction have a circle around them which corresponds to an angle from which Reksai dashes from that creates an area with the Target marked in the middle? And that's only where it starts getting confusing. What if you mark two targets with a good Q? Then what chaos starts happening.

Dextix LT1 votes

Make so that AFTER the tunneling you basically can jump from that point with the skillshot. Sobasically, you tunnel (1 part of the ability) and then comes the second part where you aim it simmilary to zacs e (JUst without needing to charge it).

The blind champion can miss her ult and everyone loses their minds.

Alright then.

Here's a thought: why not time it properly with an ally's CC to make sure you don't miss it?

making an ultimate ability 100% reliant on ally cc is some of the dumbest shit i've ever heard. No other ult requires cc in all cases to hit

Yasuo?!?

crippler3810 votes

Be fair, Yasuo's is less conditional than Rek'sai's.

Yasuo needs a knockup of any kind to be hitting the enemy, he has his own knock up to make sure this happens.

Rek'sai needs to have damaged the target, then someone else to cc them for long enough that they cannot walk away.

Which is more likely to happen?

You are correct though, Yasuo needs CC to get his ultimate off, and technically correct is the best kind of correct.

If we're going to "be fair", then Rek'Sai does not need CC to hit her ult 100% of the time while Yasuo can't even CAST his ult without CC, 100% of the time.

Setting a weird precedent like "we shouldn't make this ult CC reliant, no other ult is like this" when Yasuo is over three years old is just stupid.

crippler387 votes

if we're going to be super duper fair, it's a point and click you can kite so long as you're not a potato. so just wander away and you're golden. I call that to be a pretty bad condition to hit your ultimate, enemy being a potato. Not being able to cast it without cc just gives you less chance to fuq it up.

I think that giving her an ultimate that's a point and click means it should at LEAST not be dodgeable by WALKING I mean come on that's just silly.

It's point and click because of the distance traveled. There's no way you can aim a missile that far unless it has a giant hitbox like Enchanted Crystal Arrow.

crippler384 votes

considering you'd have to do damage to the target before launching at them. I'm pretty sure the range is a moot point in 98% of cases, 2% for teleports and cross map ult teleports.

The ultimate can't be body blocked either. Another important reason for it to be point and click.

Wait you can body block yasuo ultimate?

No, Yasuo's ultimate is AOE. Rek'Sai can only hit one person. That's why it needs to target. Warwick's ultimate can be body blocked and only hits one person, that's why it's a skill shot.

crippler382 votes

I just became confused since we were talking about Rek'Sai ult compared to Yasuo ult for a while there.
