I honestly need to know how adcs manage to abuse every, fucking, thing.

item 3071 item 3147 item 3814 item 3142 and now item 3302 How do they manage this.

"Does it enable me to do more damage?"

But seriously as an ADC player who focuses on utility carries that's how it goes. The class needs to shift from hyper carry focus to more team oriented carries. If you have 5 champions that are all designed to do monster damage late game, there is no reason to pick anything but the top two. But if you have 5 carries with different utility, you pick and choose based on what your game needs.

Was thinking about this earlier. Like why does Vayne exist with tank busting abilities and can also blow up squishes? Like shouldn't she just excel at the one thing rather than both so that it gives a reason to pick her vs certain comps instead of having her be a jack of all trades?

You also have adcs like Jhin and Ashe and even Sivir that offer a lot to their team rather than just "protect me as I oneshot everyone"

Poske7 votes

Its because she can only do singletargeted damage from 550 range

BlasphemousPrime1 votes

It's that low range, and being out ranged/flanked by people with longer range/CC

Vayne is the same range as Anne's Q ... or there abouts?

DoktorKaiser11 votes

Well honestly item 3147 is abused by EVERYONE even fucking tanks and AP champs... Now that's just retarded, it needs to be removed from the game asap.

G3T C4NC3R4 votes

even fucking tanks and AP champs...

what?

RenownedWheat429 votes

Dunno what tanks build it (some people say J4 but he's not a tank), but I've seen Diana build and kick ass with Duskblade.

SuddenAntagonist1 votes

Because on Diana (and also Akali, as someone mentioned her building it as well), she works really well as an AD/AP hybrid. It's fun to play.

TheThundersRoar2 votes

Seen Sion build it and 1-shot everyone and carry the hell out of us.

DoktorKaiser6 votes

As it was said bellow Diana, Akali, LB, Zoe, Fizz I have seen this shit on many AP assassins, as for tanks I have seen it on Malp, Leona, Blitz, I even built it myself on motherfucking Tahm Kench and it worked which is ridiculous. I said multiple times this item is 1000 times more broken than DFG which was removed for "no counterplay 1 shotting". I sincerely hope that RIOT removes and replaces this with another balanced lethality item because its breaking every champion from actual targeted users, the AD assassins, to bruisers, ADCs and even fucking AP assassins and tanks... Not funny RITO , not funny...

Reletr9 votes

item 3071 was for tank meta item 3147 item 3814 item 3142 was when lethality was busted And item 3302 was when Riot tried to make support more appealing and thus Ardent Censer meta

Oleandervine6 votes

And now thanks to ADCs, the fun support quests are being removed from the game so that YEUCK we can have Sightstones free of charge instead.[sg-ahri-3]

Reletr2 votes

Well they've toned the down since and Relic Shield isn't as strong anymore with Ardent Censer nerfs. It's still pretty good if you're aiming for late game power spike like a Twitch-Janna bot lane

AirKingNeo2 votes

Not sure how that's remotely the fault of an ADC.

DemainaNyx3 votes

Umm, have you not seem mid laners and junglers with spell thief, or top lane Gangplank with spelltheif. It's not just ADCs that are abusing the support items.

Troll for Trump1 votes

Except: They didn't need cleaver, they could've gotten last whisper. ADCs also got cleaver nerfed for juggers. Good on them.

Lethality wasn't broken on its intended users, because for them, it functioned as a crutch. It still does. Only really annoying on ADCs. Annnndd adcs got it nerfed.

Relic shield became popular after Ardent meta. And now its being changed. Cuz ADCs.

DemainaNyx1 votes

Gangplank has been abusing Klepto and Spellthief all pre season. I've seen plenty of Eve's, Elise's, and Nidalee's with spell thief in the jungle. It's not just ADCs that are abusing the support items.

It's by class. Eve, Elise, and Nidalee aren't from one "class" of champions, and GP is relatively unique, so he's an exception.

I'm talking about ADCs as a class.

ADCs have also abused other items. That's not to say no other champ has done that, but ADCs as a class do it the most frequently and to the greatest degree

DemainaNyx2 votes

Of course, they are the one class that is in 99% of games. There are games without assassins, without mages, without tanks, without enchanters, etc. Very rarely are we without ADCs, so because they are basically always there, they have more chances to be noticed for using stuff not designed for them.

I played Stoneborn Pact on Karma/Lulu/Morgana during the Ardent meta because it allowed every ability to apply Ardent to my ADC/team, not just my shields. Not once did Riot change it so that you had to heal X amount before Ardent would apply, so I was free to abuse this strategy with as small as a 1hp heal from Stoneborn. Even pro players used Stoneborn on supports to abuse Ardent and nothing about it's interaction changed. These "abuse" cases happen all the time, but no one notices them because they don't appear in every game, unlike with ADCs.

You also have to keep in mind that there are 16 (if you ignore Quinn and Corki) ADC champions, which is the smallest of any role and they all the relatively the same thing which is not like other roles. Which means all 16 of them can basically build the same items without it hurting their playstyle too much. Compare that to mid lane, and that would drastically change the game if everyone in mid built the same items (Duskblade Taliyah, Morello Zed, etc). Because of that, all ADCs can build whatever the abuse item is, because in most cases, the abuse item gives them exactly what they want with some benefits as well.

The post right above this gave the comparison of if you had to cut down a tree, would you rather use an axe or a chainsaw, and pointed out most of us would use the chainsaw. This is exactly what these "abuse" cases are. Why do something the hard way when there is an easier alternative? Why expect another player to save you when you can just buy your own shield and save yourself?

item 3053 (before melee lock and nerfs)

A 1-2k shield with like a minutes cooldown, perfect, even had a good build path.

item 3071 used to have 30% total armor shred, had a better build path and gives health and movespeed when hitting stuff, perfect for additional kiting and survival.

Post nerfs only MF and lucian use it, due to synergy.

item 3147 - Insanely OP item, nothing else needs to be said.

item 3814 Used to be really OP too, on demand spellshield and it was cheaper.

item 3142 If you got duskblade then you wanted more lethality, thus here was the final one, on demand movespeed is pretty great all around anyway for a slow class.

item 3302 An item that lets you share gold with your support to make them stronger and better able to protect you, also upgrades to give you a fat shield at some point for free permanently with a short CD.

The things all these items have in common? Either they have/had synergy or they were/are OP as heck, that's all there is to it.

If you don't want the items "abused" then don't make them the best options by far, it's like giving a guy about to fell a tree the choice between a axe and a chainsaw, naturally he will pick the chainsaw, as it does the same job but better.

Might need more maintenance but if it makes the work more efficient then you can afford more which allows things to go smoothly anyway.

Häxel3 votes

against some generell Believes people tend to forget that adcs didn't abuse item 3053 . It is just common to believe that the class what abuses most time items abused this one too, but this wasn't the case. Steraks was abused by Tanks, Assassins and the only Range Users were Graves, Jayce, Corki, reworked Urgot (was there already quite nerfed), maybe preworked Urgot and Ezreal. But no default Adc, playing adc Botlane (Graves top/jungle, jayce/Corki Mid). Maybe for these Champions, maybe for metas in the future steraks got changed to only melee, but till it got changed it was not a strong adc item. Never.

Thefrostyviking4 votes

Well it was intended for juggernauts, divers and tanks maybe, but the item was dang powerful that everyone who could, would always use it.

So AP tanks would get it, assassins and marksmen would get it, basically everyone aside from the mages did.

Because it was in effect a superior GA with a lower cooldown x)

Häxel1 votes

well by sure it was intended for divers, juggernauts and maybe Skirmishers. Less for assassins or Tanks. But than especialy it was abused together with Maw on basicly every Champion beside Mages as you said. So giving here adcs the fault would be wrong cause mainly it made Assassins unkillable and Tanks could have with these 2 items damage while still being pretty tanky.

DemainaNyx1 votes

Literally this. Some items are just over tuned. Why not use an item that does exactly what you want even if it wasn't designed for you? We had 4 BC stack during pre season because its gold efficient and gave people a tons of AD, health, and CD. There was literally no downside to not building this way because you still did the same damage, but had more health.

Thefrostyviking1 votes

Pretty much, all this talk about abusing items sounds like people being surprised about the person chose the chainsaw in the example i gave earlier, anyone with a working head will realize that as long as the person knows how to operate the chainsaw then they will use it every time over a axe.

....Sounds like surprise over people not being stupid if anything x)

DemainaNyx1 votes

Yeah. Riot didn't think when designing it, so people figured why not use it.

I used Stoneborn Pact on Karma/Lulu/Morgana during the Ardent meta, because me hitting literally any ability applied Ardent. I mean, why limit Ardent to just my ADC when I can give it to my whole team?

Champions like Shaco, Rengar, and Talon all have guaranteed crits in their kit and stealth, so why not build an IE, Shiv, and Duskblade to make it better? Everyone complains about Vayne tumble crit-ing you for half your health, but don't seem to care if a melee assassin can approach from stealth and 1 auto kill a squishy because "well, they're melee assassins, it's there job". No one cries "don't abuse ADC items" in these cases.

Thefrostyviking1 votes

I´ve been complaining about static+IE combo ever since the buffs went through, seemed retarded even back then to raise the damage to a potential 400+ bonus damage when critting x)

And people think duskblade damage is nasty x)

Sun Wu Ryuumoku1 votes

item 3142 was never build after item 3147 until the last change of dusk.

Thefrostyviking1 votes

From what i recall, ever since lethality became a thing you always got all the items that had it on, being edge of night, ghostblade and duskblade.

Usually with ghost or duskblade first, then the other, before EoN.

That was a thing all the way until EoN got nerfed, and while most don't get EoN anymore they do still follow the first two steps on many champs that use lethality.

Sun Wu Ryuumoku1 votes

when lethat was a thing, it was Youmuu > EoN and then dusk (this item didn't provide cdr at this time). And some like talon used to go GB > BC > and then end lethality items.

Wizzleboom6 votes

Because they refuse to make items like that Melee only.

Fairyfleur2 votes

It's not like every other role is abusing support items, too.

Tychusfindlay9181 votes

Because the only real core items an adc need are generally item 3031 and item 3035 and item 3087 or item 3046 or item 3085 or item 3094 and because they're ranged right clickers whose primary damage source is in fact rght clicking. I would also like to mention that until very recently riot has REFUSED to utilize the MELEE ONLY / MELEE BETTER balance lever for the sake of build diversity or some other stupid ass shit like that.

That leaves 3 item slots that they can do whatever the fuck they want with.

Bonus points to champions like MF and lucian and jhin and varus who don't even need crit at all and so have all their item slots to take whatever they feel is best.

Thefrostyviking5 votes

Generally all crit marksmen will grab 3 crit items, boots, then a armor pen item.

Which leaves 1 slot open.

Where the heck did you get :

That leaves 3 item slots that they can do whatever the fuck they want with.

From? The reductions in AD on marksmen items back in season 5 practically made it necessary to get 3 crit items to compensate.

MF works because she doesn't auto attack if possible, Jhin has a built in crazy scaling into his passive which lets him skip building crit altogether if he wants to and still deal good auto damage and Varus has good syngergy with guinso and botrk, like kog whom you forgot.

Actually Jinx also works with the botrk/guinso build too.

The only 2 crit item combo that works wellis IE/phantom, but they both massively prefer 3 crit items to make static work well, hurricane is alright but needs heavy syngergy with the users.

And which items do you think should be melee locked since you seem so fixated on the matter? O_o

Trollmanship1 votes

Their champion kits are stronger than everybody else's kits. They make better use of the items than the poor schmuck that is 'supposed' to be using it. So they just buy whatever is OP at the time and abuse it.

Range is a huge advantage that Riot always undervalues when balancing champions.

Sire Hippington1 votes

Easy answer:** Ranged AAs**(with not to terible bases stats + steroids/AD-scaleings) Range still is the most undervalued advantage in this game, even more than mobillity. Champions just pay so little for beeing ranged...

50ShadesOfBlacks1 votes

adc item need revamps and items need to be allowed to be melee only like what range champion uses these items that arnt abusing them

XIVIVIX1 votes

Class specific items need to happen in order to ever see any resemblance of balance.
