Has Saturday become a day to not play League?

Seenan··15 votes·2,644 views

I haven't won one ranked today because my team manages to feed a hard-carry at least 15+ kills which naturally overshadows my lesser-amount of kills on a non-hard carry, in every match I played today. I haven't had one equal match yet. If it's not a Nautilus that hasn't finished an item for 15-20 minutes (and has 2 Dorans Rings?), it's a Thresh that's trying to 1v3 and getting someone else killed (and himself) or a Malphite that rushes Morello against a Maokai (???????). And I even told the Malphite* to at least go Sunfire - nope. Last one played, we had a big lead on kills but then they started giving Yi kills and playing recklessly and we lost because Yi was completely deleting pretty much everyone at that point no matter what I did. I just checked and in every single match, it's been basically one-sided after laning no matter what I did. I will admit though, the one Akali game I played (not a champ I ever play), I was completely useless at one point because I couldn't manage to get kills or assistance. I had the damage in laning sure, but outside of laning, an Assassin without kills is a joke.

But as for the topic, is it because kids are playing? Like, 15 year olds that have no idea how to play, or people that are likely drunk? I've never had matchmaking this stupid before. Did Riot break something again? It's really not hard to group proper teams up.

Wouldn't even have to go through this grind if the stupid-ass placement system didn't put me 2 ranks below where I was. At least gold, ffs.

I thought it's been a thing to not play on Saturdays. Or whenever kids are available to play.

Oh, and don't forget drunk players.

My morning pre-work games are always pretty good. Can confirm.

I dunno. Do you think Sundays are safe? I almost wanna try again but my above average ELO went from below average in the span of yesterday playing.

Hmm why does it matter when kids play? I had a decent amount of wins today and of course I had trolls on one of them

Then grats, you're lucky. I get the Nauts that can't complete a Sunfire but go on to half-complete 3 other items vs a...I believe, Jax.

Yes actually. I just had a Kog'Maw ADC that was "practicing" him, and ended up feeding hard, while I dealt with the most infurating Brand Support that went Smite and was camping my jungle. Kog never pinged missing once.

Game before that I had a Jinx/Sona lane that fed super hard then just afk'd. Seems like playing this game AFTER 12 is just Troll Haven.

I mean in general isnt the weekends bad to be playing since basically everyone is off (from school and work majority of time) thus giving you a more than likely chance of getting paired up with those kinds of people!

A few weekends ago, I did sufficiently. Riot's matchmaking is just truly garbage, combined with Easter, is making a shitty premise for losing ELO.

I dunno boys, this is pretty nonsensical. I can only burst the enemy Vayne so long before their fed Irelia and Galio dive me (with no one on my team able to do anything without me, basically). I even made a thought-bet to myself that Irelia/Vayne would very likely get fed out of their minds (in this recent game I just played). And they did. Which is why my GP was 2-8, my Caitlyn is 2-10 (support 4-9), and they had a combined 30 kills (17 and 13), not counting assists, in a total of 37 kills.

Like please, whoever's reading this that knows they're bad or is a stubborn loser that thinks they're god but are eternally Bronze/Silver/low gold, get better at other roles/champions, place more wards, stop giving the enemy kills or making stupid-ass plays just cause we have a lead, stop fucking fighting the enemy laner if they have a kill (or multiple kills) on you AND ALREADY BEAT YOU IN DUELS, and just stop overall dying so much so that maybe you'll climb, as well as me, out of this broken-ass matchmaking that they call ELO hell. This is the least we can do until Riot decides to ever fix matchmaking (I doubt it).

Why didn't you ban the Galio tho.

Basically you either need tanks + peel or to play an assassin who can get in and out.

I hadn't realized he was worth the ban over Graves. He pretty much saved the game on 2 occasions yesterday when I made the OP though, so maybe I'll start banning him.

Well, each game that you lose also means that someone else is going to win. However, I do agree that saturdays tend to be more stressful, mainly because of younger players. But it should not affect you winrate. As it goes with afk's, the chances are higher to have one or more of them in the enemy team (assuming you are not one of them).

In general, discussions need to shift from "elo hell" towards "bad luck" and that some players may just need 500-1000 games to get where they belong (this was even stated by riot). Unfortunately, most players don't have the time to play 500+ games per season.

I maintained a list from the very beginning of the season to see if I was on the lucky or unlucky side of things. I'll probably share it at the end of the season but the results are so far in 125 games (both flex and solo):

feed for me here means: Being approximately 0/5/0 , with hardly or no farm at all, singlehandedly losing the game. Being 0/2/0 or being signficiantly behind in farm but not dying was not considered feeding by me (because the game is still fairly winnable that way if people are clever and know or try to stay relevant).

Difference in AFK's: +13 (+ = more in my team) 3 lanes cleary lose to a point in which the game cannot be won: +7 Top feeds (as in 0/5 or worse with little farm): +14 Jungle feeds: +4 Mid feeds; +4

I tried to be as conservative as possible and even tried to be honest to myself and include me when I was feeding (tho, this rarely happens).

+42 in 125 games feels pretty bad, but i still managed to get to platinum again and will certainly make diamond (again) if I play enough. It still is so annoying to have bad luck at the beginning of a season because it harms your hidden mmr so much.

This is not even a rant. I was more lucky last season. But losing 42 (in difference) games out of my control from 125 is a pretty big hit. Assuming a 50% winrate, this could have been 21 more wins (21/42) if the games would have been even. That is huge. Say you have 100 games, of which you won 50 and lost 50. With better luck this could have been a 71 / 29

Actually it has affected my winrate. I used to have a 50-53% in S6. Come S7 today, became 44% right now and 27% midrate right now (correlated to these games, as my mid winrate was not 27% before...)

It hasn't been just one person feeding. It's been one person being a fucking idiot, and then having like 3 others feeding with possibly one 'decent' person along with me trying to hold the game together.

Honestly same, I got placed with a Zilean mid who, while im 5/2/0 up top, goes afk. I resort to trying to carry which, surprisingly, I did reasonably well, but without any ap or burst and 1/5 less damage than the other team, my team surrendered. I think we had the late game, but thats besides the point. I also had multiple games with feeding kids who then flamed the team and then did the classic 11 year old "/all report my team" when they were being toxic and feeding. My last ranked game of the day was the solid, "I refuse to play this role" "Just do it we all get autofilled sometimes" "NO, Locks in Jayce support"

One of my games yesterday - one person was completely silent in champ select with their support brand...then gets in game and has the audacity to be like 'I don't support, what do I do?'...annnnd then proceed to feed 4-9 I believe, no Sightstone, doesn't have a Morello vs some of their big healers..etc.

I love this game but i hate everything else.... client sucks, community (at least in game) is super toxic, game placements are bad. It's just so frustrating. [zombie-brand-facepalm]

It just caters too much to casuals visually. In reality, only people like Faker or Bjerg, and people around plat4+ onward understand the game beyond 'DUO WITH ME TO DIAMOND'.

EDIT: Maybe not plat 4, diamond 4?

That's how people get fed; people think they can 'try again' in ranked after they die. Or think that they can get that Yi that now has 2 finished items 'next time'. It's not that simple. The opponent now has an exp lead, a probable gold lead from the kill, and a CS lead since they get creeps while you're dead. An extra level is literally an extra 80 hp and level in a skill, and an item lead could mean a variable stat+ of AD, AP, health, and so on, which will affect the next fight you have them with in a negative fashion as they'll be stronger if they went back to spend.

lol, I played bottom lane Jayce once and my teammates fed, refused to crowd control the assassins diving me and to top it all off, "wtf man, of course we lost, you were playing freaking jayce support"

when I was the marksman, lol

I was thinking this - but wouldn't more working people with days off be playing instead of kids that are looking for eggs?

I would imagine that a good number of people might be travelling to see family and friends. However, I don't know the exact numbers for players who do this vs players who don't, so I don't know for sure. It was mainly just a theory. A game theory.

And a good one. We just don't have the stats to confirm nor deny.

Weekends are never good times to climb, because that's when the majority of players who don't play regularly are most common. That and kids, who are usually just bad (because the good kids are smart enough to not play the weekends either)

Weekends are good if you want ARAM or are willing to match with kids, a side of flame-n-feeders and a dash of troll.

Weekdays are for the hardcore grind.

I've lost my most smurf games ever in one day on a saturday, I agree with this notion.

children, drunks, dopeheads, people with mental handicaps, etc. are always going to be playing at some time or another. if you want to have a better experience then you're going to have to make friends that are good at the game and hope that you're good enough to impress them and not get shunned from the group.

It's funny you are blaming your elo on the idea that it's more younger people are playing.

You're mad you arent in gold but challengers get reset to plat 1 and never complain lmao

Yeah cause plat 1 players have a decent mind to climb with. They know how to play, it's just a skill battle. In B/S/G, and even low plat, it's often a roll of the dice.

DemainaNyx1 votes

I don't want to blame it sololy on kids, but I think a lot of casual players play on the weekend.

I'm no where near a hard core player, but I play probably a game or two every day. I may go on lose streaks, but it's no where as bad as the lose streaks I used to get on weekends. Ever since I stopped playing Ranked on weekends, I don't fall as hard as I used to. And I mean like Gold Promo's to Silver 3 lose streaks.
