I Don't Like The Direction New Champ Ults Are Going

I'm not sure who greenlighted these ults that directly affect teammates without their consent (Kalista + Bard), but I'd just like to say that I don't like the direction these ults are going. I also don't like what they open up for the future.

There are definitely good uses for both of these ults; both have the potential to save an ally that's close to death, or they can be used as an engage / disengage for team fights. However, they can also have a direct negative impact on me by denying me a kill, allowing time for the enemy team to group / set up / reset cooldowns or by taking me out of / putting me into a fight I don't want to be in.

While I wish that I could trust my allies 100% of the time, the bottom line is that I simply can't. None of us can. If I'm going into or out of a fight, I know why I'm doing it... And I don't want another of my teammates deciding otherwise by force.

Bottom line... I don't want my allies having direct control over my actions. Please change these ults. Perhaps Kalista might be able to throw a minion instead of an ally (or maybe she just throws a copy / spirit version of the ally) and Bard's can simply only affect enemies.

Feel free to disagree and try to change my mind regarding the matter. I'm always open for discussion, and this may just be the opinion of myself and a few people I've talked to.

That would be a huge nerf for Kalista, actually. Assuming that the player is not trolling and actually wants to win, generally they ult you in good times and the repositioning of you the support makes a vast number of plays open that wouldn't otherwise have been.

I get how a few seconds loss of control might irk you, but a personal pet peeve that borderline never negatively affects the game won't find much support for change.

Personally, it doesn't happen often enough to be a problem for me.

When it does happen, 9 times out of 10 it's an accident. I usually laugh at it because it is pretty funny when they happen (by accident). Ranked especially.

And if it's a troll, then there's nothing you can do about it. Trolls will always find a way to troll. Such is the way of online gaming.

^This. League has always been really conservative when it comes down to fun spells that can also affect your teammate, I for one am happy that they are finally getting rid of that outdated way of thinking.

I disagree. I'm glad to see Riot finally opening up possibilities in new and interesting ways. And, once Bard players get better at using the ult, they're going to master its uses.

I don't mind a loss of control. I want this game to become more diverse and interesting, and if this is one way to do that, so be it.

These ultimates would be perfectly fine if communication and teamwork were more readily available. Unfortunately, you cannot guarantee teamwork.

Eh, they're the only two in the last couple years (and Rek'Sai's between 'em btw) that can do this. If it were a trend, I'd agree, but I'm not sure it's a trend. Not saying you don't have a point (I'm neutral), just that you don't necessarily need to be worried that more ults like this will be a thing.

There does seem to be a trend towards ults that don't deal damage though. Gnar was the last one that had damage on his ult. Hmm...

Do you really want Kalista and Rek'sai to have damaging ults, though?

Haha, nope. I just find it interesting. I kinda dislike Bard's ult though; maybe I'll change my mind once I see people who know how to play the game (I'm Bronze) use it.

Bard's ult should simply be an AoE stun for enemies. It would make him useful and fix his trolling potential.

As long as it doesn't get as common as kock up/dashes I'm fine with it, keep it rare with max like 2 champ for every 100 I don't know.

I couldn't agree more.

I love both of these skills. I think it's quite natural for the support and ADC to have teamwork abilities.

I think it's super awesome when Kalista throws Thresh, then Thresh pulls her in with a lantern.

With Bard, I haven't really figured out how to make him work, but I think stasis is an awesome ability with lots of potential uses.

In general, I think the potential playmaking upside of strong ally affect abilities outweighs the troll or stupid teammate downsides. I'd like to expand this sort of thing where it makes sense. For example, I'd love for Lissandra to be able to ult her teammates.

And I'm happy they are moving away from babysitting the playerbase.

Gawds yes, I HATE these ults. There should at the very least be some way to opt out, like if a Kalista tries to force me to be her link I should be able to say no. Bard's ult is just stupid, it's even more cowardly than Zhonya's. It's the ultimate troll ability.

When Kalista ults me without my consent I use it to escape.
