Diana way too tanky for an assassin sub class

Lugg··2 votes·608 views

I just had a game today that perfectly illustrates this. The enemy Diana was deleting carries but at the same was literally harder to kill than the fed Mundo on their team. We could focus down the Mundo in about 5 seconds but the Diana would take at least 8.

I have seen this happen in multiple games. Call it salt if you want, but honestly, how can anyone think that is balanced?

She's not even really an assassin. She's a dueler/fighter. And the Mundo would be just tanking and hitting. Diana would be moving around and disrupting with E and refreshing shields while dashing around.

I was playing Shen and I was pretty fed as well. I would taunt her every time she dove, but she would easily live through the focused fire and kill off the rest of my team. Any other carry in the game would have died in 2 seconds under those conditions.

Mind giving me the information of how fed she was compared to the rest of your team? Her E would disrupt and interrupt, setting up for point-blank W burst pops into a refreshed shield, to which a single Q could hit them all into an easy double-ult.

She was actually a little behind when her reign of terror began. I was top Shen and I was up over the Mundo. Our mid Ekko was way up over their mid Teemo, and our jungle Fizz was also up on Diana. Yet she was able to start snowballing like mad by diving low health champs under tower. The only way we were able to kill her was for Fizz to ult her and all in while I had her CC'd. It was pretty ridiculous.

Okay, key here: "she was able to start snowballing like mad by diving low health champs under tower"

She's an amazing diver. Also, if you meant the majority of you were low heath targets during that fight, her E + W + point blank multiple Q hit + double ult + her passive 3-hit aoe makes it really easy to clean up low health enemies.

I have no problem with her diving and killing people. The problem I have is that she does it and still gets out alive even with 2-3 tower shots that don't even drop her shield.

Astôlfo1 votes

What was her build/level at the time?

Lugg1 votes

Not sure what level she was, it was about the 14 minute mark where she started going ham. I think she had 2 kills on our bot lane at that time and then she took out our Ekko. She had Runic Echos and Lichbane and was starting to work on Zhyonas I believe.

Oh, the Echoes splash + Lich Bane procs would do a ton of damage. Diana can feel absurd once she gets rolling at times.

"I was playing Shen and I was pretty fed as well."

and what does that say about the difference between the fed diana and your carries? are you the carry?

Lugg1 votes

Fed Shen is pretty scary. Our bot lane sucked, but our mid Ekko and jungle Fizz were good.

her shield is wayy too strong, I think as a nasus with 500 stacks it took me a hit and a half to get through the shield. And not to mention her burst.

Lugg1 votes

It lasts longer than any shield in the game. It's 5 seconds, but the time gets refreshed if the 3rd orb detinates, which it always does, so it's really about an 8 second shield. Insanely broken.

Ralanr2 votes

That's cause she's a fighter/Mage.

Oh wait, subclasses. I'd wager she's either a diver or skirmisher. Probably a diver.

Lugg1 votes

Technically, she may be a mage, be everyone knows she really an assassin. She should be able to dive, delete someone, and then get out. Not just stay there and kill your whole team.

Ralanr2 votes

Sounds like a diver since she has no way to actually get out.

i played enough diana to know that she is not tanky at all. the shield doesn't do anything lategame. she was never meant to be an assassin but an initiating fighter.

everyone is tanky if you feed them.

I agree, but with Diana she gets fed BECAUSE she is too tanky. Her only weakness is the very early game. That is why jungle Diana is so broken, her weakness really doesn't exist at all if she is jungling.

Pressure the map before she hits 6? And even then her ganks arent even that good. She brings a tiny pull with a tiny slow and a gap closer. Any champion can dash and cc

Lugg1 votes

I think her ganks are quite good. Her CC is basically an Oriana ult without the damage but an added slow.

Comparing orianna's ult to diana's E is like comparing GP's ult to MF's ult. While they do the same thing, one is much better. Ori's ult displaces them completely onto the ball. Diana's E is nothing but a tiny pull. It doesn't put them directly onto her, and it doesn't stun as long. Ori's ult is like 50x better

Lugg1 votes

Well Ori's is an ultimate and Diana's is just a normal ability. That doesn't change the fact that it's still good.

Blåbæret1 votes

In what world is Diana tanky? Lmao. 3-4 autos from your ADC and she's dead.

Her win rate is also garbage and she's predictable.

Lugg1 votes

Too bad your ADC is dead before she can do that.

Her win rate isn't bad at all, not sure why you think that.

Diana way too tanky for an assassin sub class

Diana's mobility is more on the lines of XinZhao Irelia Aatrox than anything else, and speed is the single most important quality for a LoL assassin.

Rather than jumping around the battlefiled and using speed to really survive like Fizz Zed , Diana basically just charges at someone like a knight.

Doing that warrants a solid chunk of bulkyness.

Diana's innate tankyness also isn't that impressive all things considered. In a game with champions like: Alistar Jax Tryndamere Nocturne Yasuo MonkeyKing Fiora Fizz Kayle An HP shield is kind of butts. She could have a clone that can body-block a bunch of shots and eat champion-specific ults, rendering her virtually immune to Cait and Morde ults. Or a spell shield that says LoL Nope to a Tibber's-to-the-face combo. But nope, can't even block 1 Parrrley.

Not sure I'd call Diana way to tanky. She's pretty squish if you build her to OHKO someone with no warning assassin-style. If she's built bulky: most of her damage output comes from AA's, which are heavily telegraphed and not bursty, making her more like a cavalier and not at all like an assassin.

Lugg1 votes

Irelia is a pretty good comparison. She has better mobility than Xin or Aatrox since she can Q-Ult multiple times.

I agree that she needs to be tankier than a Fizz or Zed, where she is at now is just plain ridiculous. She shouldn't be able to tank a whole team, especially since she deletes whoever she dives 90% of the time making it a 4v5. She should just have enough tankyness to go in, kill one or two people, and then be forced to retreat.

If you build her pure tank, of course she won't do any burst. However, the normal builds on her do great damage and make her an off tank. It doesn't take rocket science to figure out that a champion who does tons of damage and is very hard to kill isn't healthy.

Diana is more of a Fighter AP Mage than an assassin. She is similar to Wukong, can deal damage but typically moves into the back lines. She is a good champion she just can't really initiate fights unless it is 1v1 or a skirmish.

Diana jungle is fraught with troubles in higher Elo. You invade her she dies.

Lugg1 votes

Any smart Diana jungle is going to ward defensively for the first clear. It's the same as any weak early jungler.

Swiftstrike41 votes

This is true, but warding just lets you see the enemy coming. You can't stop them from taking your camps as Diana, you simple have to farm camps around them. She is pretty weak all the way until 6. If your team does not respond to an invade (or are incapable of responding at that time) she can fall behind.

I play Diana jungle in normals. I am not a good enough jungler to take it into ranked, but I know what I should be doing.

If you get invaded you just have to leave. Against low plat and high gold they typically take some type of action against a Diana jungle. It is highly effective though if the enemy jungler leaves Diana alone.
