If Irrelia has a 45% winrate, does that mean she needs to be buffed?

I play against this champion fairly often and this champ seems ridiculous as fuck. She deal loads of dmg, low cooldowns, and a shit ton of dashes, and alot of movement impairment and quite tanky, I barely know what is actually going on. Irrelia players seem to kill the enemy top laner regardless of being behind kills or cs and she can take on multiple people at once regardless of being behind. So I looked at the win rate for this champion and saw that it is 45%. According to the logic of some people they say that a champion below and above 50% need a buff or a nerf. So does this mean irrelia needs a buff? This champion seems broken asf and I don't think it is right to buff her at all...

She has a trash design

They reworked her cuz it kit was impossible to balance so they made sure for her new kit to be impossible to balance

Rework team grade A work as usual

Riot needs to decide if she is going to be a 1v1 god or a team fighter.

Right now she is both and that invalidates alot of champions.

She also is just as tanky as champs like Yorick Darius which is just straight up insane considering they give up all the mobility for damage and tankiness. Yet this abomination Irelia continues to exist as an assassin juggernaut teamfigher.

An actual nerf to her passive could go a long way.

Winrate alone doesn't mean buff or nerf is needed. In fact to riot, a 45ish percent is healthy for some champions. Irelia doesn't need a buff. If anything her pasive needs nerfed. Its stronger then early game passives like Warwick's. The old irelia atleast was tanker with predictable outplay potential. New irelia is basically see enemy, spam buttons on them. If all else fails, just auto them down with conquerer and passive since its so ridiculous overpowered. I've had irelias win trades by missing everything and autoing me to death. Seriously. Nerf the passive. And possible rework on w? Make it only a defensive ability, no damage part, but maybe the activation instead of damage applies a mark in a circle around her or something idk. The problem is they just overtuned her. Free damage. Healing. Dashes galore. Shield ripping. Slow. Stun. Attackspeed. Movespeed. She has everything she needs and more. Even after ripping out things and making her w only block physical.. idk i won't keep ranting on. But she's just not fair in her current kit. If she has a 50% winrate that's bad. She needs to be below.

No, her pro-play presence means she won't get buffed. Read the Champion Balance Framework. It states that champions are considered for buffs due to their bad performance if they perform badly in every group. Since Irelia actually performs well in high-skilled and coordinated play, she won't get buffed.

Statistically it would suggest yes, but its winrate with playrate that makes the stat meaningful.

Though even if she does, its decently hard to balance her due to an overloaded kit.

actually, Meddler said "We're putting most of our 9.15 time aside for follow up on 9.14 and longer term work on preseason projects. It's likely we'll at least look at Irelia from the angle of her being too dominant in pro play in particular. Not sure yet what changes that might or might not result in though." so if anything nerfs or adjustments.

Not really, but she definitely doesn't need a nerf either. It's easy to talk like this about a champ until you play them. The most important things to understand are just to engage when her passive is at low stacks, and to dodge her E.

Irelia is one of the last actually high-skill champs that you can see played on the ladder, she's fine where she is.

Irelia isnt liked so people dont want her buffed but long ranged auto attackers can do alot more damage with no blow back.

High skill cap champion means it needs a low winrate.

Wild Geese7/23/2019, 3:02:41 AM1 votes

She's strong if you play her a lot, still they may try and make her weaker in high and stronger in low like they did with Ryze...

So expect 50 more reworks.

You need to balance champions based on what their ceiling effectiveness is. High-skill cap champions with a high play rate like Irelia tend to not carry win rates that are indicative of how strong they are, because generally speaking, they're not played at their ceiling level of effectiveness. The fact of the matter is, that when Irelia is played at the highest level, she is overpowered. That would explain why her win rate in solo queue is low, but she remains a highly contested top and mid lane pick in competitive play. So to answer your question, no. Irelia does not need a buff, and neither does Akali who is in a similar spot.

Ryze "Nope"

she needs a rework bad, any buff will turn her into a god again

O Fallen Scholar7/23/2019, 10:25:34 AM1 votes

She's a tanky Yasuo who wrecks everyone in teamfights and has good laning phase cus of mobility and outplay.

BestPudgeNA7/23/2019, 3:12:15 PM1 votes

There is basically 2 types of players in league. Those that always try to abuse the most OP shit and those that play the shit they enjoy. Irelia falls into the something the first category of players plays. Because of this the vast majority of people playing Irelia are boosted a full division in elo. When she isn't god tier and just S tier like she is now they often int their faces off when playing her in an Elo they don't belong in. This explains why she and a handful of other obviously busted shit has low WR and why WR in general are basically meaningless.

Smyrage7/24/2019, 12:06:49 PM1 votes

I remember when she was picked in almost every matches; she taught me to appreciate a Yasuo. I wouldn't mind if she stays as irrelevant as she is now. PTSD I know.
