Why people don't like Lulu being viable at lanes other than support?

I sincerely don't understand that. Lulu is on a pretty good spot right now and does not need any changes. She is already a pretty good support, I use her when I have to go support, as a counter to engage teams, assassins, and if I need someone that can protect teammates like no one else. That said, I don't understand why people don't like her being used at top and mid.

Lulu is viable and strong, can bully many melees, is one of the few mages that is not weak to assassins, but taking her at mid and top have its downsides.

For example, if you are taking Lulu top, you are sacrificing a spot that could be used for a tanky champion, for a squishy champion that has some damage potential and a lot of utility and CC. She is still squishy, however, and can't make up for that. Unless you compensate that somewhere, such as on the jungle, your team will be very squishy and likely to lose all teamfights due to having no one that can absorb the initial burst and protect the key carries.

And if you are taking her mid, you are losing out a lot of damage potential. Lulu's damage is lower than the average mage, since she has only two damaging abilities (not including her passive) and those two abilities have poor AP ratios. If you are using Lulu mid, it is for her CC, utility, and ability to counter a lot of metagame threats, including Cho'Gath and some assassins. If you were to take someone with damage, it would be better to just use another mage.

And lastly, she has issues dealing with tanks. She has no % abilities, has poor ratios, and has only two damaging abilities. She will have a very hard time dealing relevant damage to tanks. This is relevant on that meta because tanks are popular. She has her own ways to deal with tanks, but damage is not one of them, she needs to rely on her teammates to be able to properly deal with tanks.

However, her utility is so amazing that she can make up for not having as much damage as other champions. She is very good when you have a hypercarry on your team, such as Kog'Maw, since then you will essentially have two supports ready to protect him (three if you count the jungler which will likely be a tank). She also needs to stay viable at mid and top because, as I said above, she is one of the few counters to assassins, bruisers, and some burst mages alike.

I don't know why some people want Riot to change her to be exclusively used as a support. You want diversity, yet you don't want Lulu to have diversity on what she can do? She has already been nerfed, she is balanced already. Lulu is strong but she isn't OP or broken, like other champions, such as LeBlanc before the 5.11 changes.

Because you want to throw your PC out the window when you face her mid or top.

I've never had any problems dealing with Lulu, even before the nerfs.

There are plenty of champions who can deal with her. For example, Vladimir. He can outsustain Lulu, you just heal all the damage she deals, and he is tanky, unlike her. Aatrox also works, but since he is not that tanky, is AD, and is reliant on auto-attacks, Vladimir is a better option.

There are bruisers who can deal with her too. Mundo will not die to her anytime soon, although a properly played Lulu will not die to him either. Xin Zhao, Irelia and Jax will just jump at her face and wreck her. Jayce is pretty good against Lulu, too.

At mid lane, she has issues against mages that can outrange her, such as Xerath and Syndra. Malzahar is also a problem because you can't ult yourself while you are being supressed - you would have to predict when he is going to ult and use Polymorph. The silence is also a problem for her.

If you don't have a proper counter to Lulu, just use someone that has a lot of sustain or that can outrange her, and don't forget of purchasing magic resistance.

Actually I've had a lot of success playing Darius into her.

Ya, know. She can't really get close enough to AA him and if she only uses Qs she'll go OOM faster than Garen.

Still, she's really annoying to play aganist.

I don't know why you are saying this, Lulu is very good against Darius. You can kite him and if he pulls you, just polymorph him. If he is about to use his ult, you can counter that with her ult. At mid/late game, Darius will simply be unable to kill or come close to anyone because Lulu will simply prevent that, so even if her ADC is bad at kiting, they will not die to Darius.

It may work on paper, in practice Darius is able to land at least one of Q or W, before Polymorph kicks in. If or when she does that, she will be left out with no haste for her and Darius will walk her down the lane after. And my point with mana stands.

This is basically it. Lulu is one of the most anti-fun laning opponents in the game.

I once fought her with Renekton, kept up in farm, and actually managed to kill her at like level 3-4 or something like that.

She proceeded to come back to lane and keep bullying me/annoying me.

I mean like, I didn't die, but it's hard as shit to engage on Lulu and she throws so much bullshit your way.

I would rather face Lulu than face Riven, or Darius, or Nasus. Nasus is not a lane bully but it is no fun when you can't kill your lane opponent at all or even leave the lane against him.

Riven isn't all that hard, and is even fun with some match ups. Darius can be rough, but you can at least safely farm under your tower if you're not low. It's harder for Darius to force you back, and at least melee champions can trade with him.

Nasus just shines in Yolo Q because people don't know how to close out games. Unless you're playing Darius, you can't just babysit Nasus top lane. After pushing him to his turret or killing him, try to roam and snowball other lanes to get an advantage. Get as much of an advantage as possible before Nasus gets big. Because unless you're playing someone like Master Yi or Trundle, it isn't a matter of if Nasus becomes too much for you to handle one on one, it's a matter of when.

Lulu though? If you're a melee champion without a significant gap closer she's going to throw so much bullshit your way and has so much CC your chances of trading back or engaging on her are small.

lane Lulu does the same thing support lulu does, except a bit better when your building AP. And That's still balanced cause your taking that over a Carry midlaner.

Her kit is overloaded with CC. Prior to her nerfs, she was one of the, if not THE top mid laner because of her capability to counter out and utterly dominate the top picks of the time. Leblanc? Heckled. Zed? Shined. Ahri? Skinned. Fizz? Filleted. Gragas? Tripped. Kassadin? Voided. It was her ability to force a disengage and cancel out trades or cancel plays by the enemy that made her so terrible to deal with. Her poke is impossible to deal with because Glitterlance can both break and deal damage through spellshield. She plays like a normal AP mage with less overall damage, incredibly high CC, and high poke potental

Lulu tends to be better at more roles than she has any right being, even after the nerfs. Her passive allows her to build attack speed, and her targeted Polymorph spell at level 5 makes her devastating in duels (especially if she's building APC). She has a combination of offensive, multi-target skill shots with strange vectors that make them difficult to dodge, buffs and crowd control, and even a heal. In a solo lane, she proves to be remarkably competent as a mage or even an APC while still providing plenty of utility to her team.

Because she doesn't interact with you at all, she just sits back and pokes you and if you try to interact with her she polymorphs you and then its back to no interaction

If you shut her down it doesn't matter because she's overloaded with utility so she's always useful
