What would the current state of Leage be like if Last Whisper had it's stats reverted back to it's S1 stats of 40% atk spd instead if it's current 40 ad? (the armor pen would be left alone for to limit variables for the sake of the thought experiment)
How adversely would such a change affect league? Would it greatly affect anything at all? and the most important question of all, why?

Also, would it make tanky champs more common/popular? now that their defense won't get so easily shredded?
TehNACHO1 votesTo be frank, late game ADCs generally want multipliers (AS+Crit+ArPen), not flat stats (Attack Damage, flat bonuses). It could easily turn into a superior late game for the ADCs that want the extra attack speed to maximize their late game potential.
Thryale1 votesIt does sound like it, doesn't it? But I do remember that back when LW was changed from atk spd to ad it was viewed as an overall buff to an item that was rarely used. Why was that?
I see it being more of a situational item at best, because champs like kog vayne would love it, but champs like ashe, cait, luci, and ez would not be able to effectively use the item at all. (well, maaaabye cait, but that would have to be a case by case basis)
TehNACHO1 votesBecause it gave the Last Whisper a far smoother power transition. Penetration rapidly rises in value around the mid game area when Tanks begin to itemize for resistances (Think every mid-game Caster type champion in the game who wants Penetration around mid game, they are a prime example of this in action). By making the Last Whisper grant AD, that makes it far more viable for all stages of the game rather than being a supreme item in the late game and far more easier to access for all AD champions rather than the hyper scalers. This could be a large chunk of the explanation to why it was viewed as an overall buff.
FyshinaTux1 votesI could see champions like Master Yi potentially solo'ing Baron easier earlier with this change. Master Yi in particular because his damage scales slightly better with AS due to the double attack on his passive. (only slightly, but better none-the-less)
I agree that AD Casters would be in need of changes, and I think that I would still complain that itemization options are terrible.
