I still remember the time where people were saying Vlad would be broken with the AP item changes...

...when what actually happened was that Vladimir did not changed much. The decrease on the "spellvamp" from WotA was a nerf against champions that don't stack magic resistance. On other hand, it was a minor buff against champions that stacked magic resistance.

Many of Vlad's optional items, such as Liandry and Rylai, became more powerful, so Vlad could scale even better into late game, especially since Zhonya got cheaper, so Vladimir could rush it faster.

But thanks to those changes and the fact that the meta has changed and tanks were no longer dominating, Vladimir is now considered to be balanced. I don't even know why people were saying that he would be broken, he has always been balanced, he was only popular in the tank meta because, well... it was a tank meta. And Vlad is a counter to tanks.

Why I am saying that? Because I hope that people don't do the same thing now when the marksmen itemization changes come to PBE. Imagine if people said that Vayne would be broken with the AD itemization changes, and then Riot nerfed BotRK, and Vayne suddenly became balanced.

Idk how to put this but vladimir is way stronger than you think due to the item changes.

if against the right team he will play like one of the most broken champions in the game, a squishy team with lack of CC and defences/utility will almost automatically lose to a vladimir

Against squishies, the healing has been nerfed because the value itself has been reduced and squishies don't have a lot of magic resistance compared to tanks. Obviously they will die faster to Vladimir's spells, but this can cause problems against an ADC's lifesteal and other champions that decide to stack lifesteal.

This doesn't mean that Vlad is weaker, though. As I explained, many of the items that Vlad normally use have been buffed, so he is actually stronger now, but the meta has changed to be more early game centric and this is part of the reason why he is balanced.

Also, technically a squishy team with lack of CC and defense/utility will lose to any champion, there is a reason why every team should have a combination of those three things.

People forgot he was broken in the beginning to start with I guess...

because actually having weaknesses to exploit makes him broken yea? I mean he's one of the few champs that actually has a weak early game to compensate his late game, he's slow, his range isn't huge, his "oh shit" pool has a long cd and costs 20% current health (compare to fizz pole and tell me it's broken), and he has no cc. I think he is very balanced in that he pays for the things that make him good.

sorry to say this, but every champ has a weakness to exploit. top lane circles upon this concept and sure vlad doesn't break this rule. But the thing is if he manages to counterpick he is virtually impossible to kick out and even has the possibility to kill the laner and jungler

okok, he might not be broke, he has his weakness, but it's too darn painful when he is successful

that was also assuming the reworked abyssal, which never happened.

they had a version on the pbe that granted ap, hp, mr, a sunfire aura that applied % mr shred like cleaver. i guess you can see how this would be a perfect item for him.

Just because people 'dont' build him that way, doesnt mean he's not broken when he 'is' built that way. Learn2differentiate

Vlad already had a way to deal with tanks, his Q giving him flat healing, not depending on his opponent's resistances
