So Riot, you love talking about counterplay. Then tell me this:

SaltyToplaneGoat··2 votes·805 views

Tell me what I as a squishy champ am supposed to do with a Yi ulting at me and shredding me from 100 to 0 within two seconds.

I'm curious what counterplay you suggest here. I'm already behind my team, but until they have bursted him down I'm already dead myself.

Not to mention that the Yi doesnt even have any mistakes he could make. All he has to do is the right-click and maybe press Q.

So why should I even bother with playing any of your new and "healthy" champions, who have all that counterplay, when obviously posessing it is lowering your chances to win the game? Why is your design forcing me to play the horridly designed hypercarrys instead of the champions I know and love? I mean, I could play them, but then I could kiss all my chances of climbing in ranked goodbye.

But back to the question: what is the counterplay to someone walking up on me with massive speed who cannot be slowed, a gapcloser and a way to dodge skills, who then proceeds to slap unavoidable damage boosted by true damage into my face and finishes me in not even two seconds? And why is that guy even allowed to be tanky enough and sustain enough with lifesteal so he can just move on to the next player and then shred THEM from 100 to 0?

Also, "teamplay" my ass. Why should ONE champion who has to do effectivly nothing force the enemy team to put up so much effort just to keep things even?

A lot of Yi's counter play is in champion select, A CC heavy team can easily shut down mastery yi.

If a master yi could one shot you in the middle of your whole well-drafted team, it probably meant he's too fed and the game is intended for him to win and end with that type of advantage. Just like a similarly fed Orianna is intended to destroy your whole team with a single shockwave combo.

There's no lane for master yi at the moment. He's doesn't do well in anyone of the possible roles. He's also one of the few champions that have not been picked for the entire year in competitive.

Faker played it.

Yi is a SoloQ extravaganza because he loves stragglers and that ADC who just wants to push that last wave by himself. He is, however, extremely weak to hard CC and being exploded during its duration because he's squishy AF.

Also you complain that ONE Champion makes the enemy team adapt, but you have to realize he's yolocharging in order yo kill you, some squishy high priority target in order to give his team an advantage, and if you kill him, it's basically a 5v4 teamfight ripe for the taking.

The fact alone that he can "Yolocharge" and potentially win a 1vs5 given a certain mechanical skill level is already a sign that something is deeply broken within the design...

The funny thing is: every other diver is far less problematic... Xin and Irelia and even Nocturne might not be kuch better designed, but I'd play against all of them rather than Yi...

Learning to have even the slightest iota of map awareness or having the common sense to stick with your team instead of crying about a weak champion.

Eh he has a point though. Giving a champ true damage on-hit (especially with his passive) is a bit....broken. Build attack speed and only attack speed and you win game because of the other damage sources that come from building only AS items (blade, jungle item, static shiv, ghostblade, rageblade, etc).

No, he doesn't have any sort of point at all. Yi is literally one of the most fragile champions in the game. CC him once and he dies in half a second flat. Your entire team has more than one CC ability. Force or bait out Q, CC him afterwards, kill him.

buy ga

Ah yes, the ultimate counterplay to everything. You die? RUSH A item 3026 .

Great. Why would I have never thought of that? And why is no one rushing GA as the first item in the game, if it is the ultimate counter to dieing?

Maybe because counterplay needs to kick in BEFORE you actually die? That's, like, the entire point of it?

Proper positioning and cc. He is also weak early, so punish him in the early game

You can't be mad when a champion does what he is intended to do. The whole purpose of Yi is to kill the squishies. You just have to hope that your team can peel for you, and like others said, position yourself so you aren't as easily dove. Just throw some hard CC on him and hope someone exhausts him. Thornmail also works wonders...

Its a team game bro. If your team didnt pick champions with the tools to deal with Yi then thats on you and your team.

Just travel w/ your friendly neighborhood Jax as he repeatedly says "who want's a piece of the champ?" and eventually yi will jump in, get stunned and die.
