The problem is that as support you dont get to start with any mana item till you complete the wardstone and the upgrade number 2 on your gold item what ever you use (mostly relic)
So before you even get to the point that you can buy the
the enemy support can easily abuse you because you can go OOM way too fast!!
And yeah maybe after lvl 8 his mana pool are good but lets face it this game is all about the early trades!!
I dont care about top lane tahm i dont play him top!! yeah top you can start with what ever item you want but as support tahm his mana issues are a problem!!
Many people see tahm top and say "omg tahm dosent need buffs" No the top tahm maybe dosent need buffs but the support tahm does need a buff!
Support Tahm is in a perfectly fine position as-is. His mana cost for his W is sensical -- it can prevent an ally from taking damage for more than 4 seconds and giving a 15% speed boost, which can reach 30% towards enemies. The reason the mana cost is large is because this is an extremely powerful tool for protecting his allies. You need to understand that.
If the enemy support is trying to 'abuse' Tahm by being aggressive against him, Tahms E allows him to out-trade said support with the health regeneration and shield it provides. You cannot bully Tahm efficiently in lane as well as he can bully you.
= Only 950 gold. I can get that in by level 6 via relic shield easily. I can also get a Sightstone instead, and which will be more beneficial past level 6? Probably the sightstone.
You'll just have to face the facts -- If you're spamming spells, you're going to have mana issues. That's set in place to not allow him to be extremely oppressive in-lane as a support. It costs 90 mana which is meant to be his metaphorical 'wall' from being able to abuse a powerful spell repeatedly.
At level 1, with Tahm's W, Mana, and Mana regen, he can cast it 4 times before being unable to cast it again by half-its mana cost.
At level 2, he can cast it 5 times before being out of mana.
At level 3, 6 times.
At level 4, 6 times, halfway to 7.
Face it -- That's a LOT of saving your ADC. If your ADC is getting caught out more than once in lane, it's probably his fault, and he probably deserves to die for his inability to position correctly. You're only there to save him the times when you can.
Mana cost of 90 at all levels of the spell is fair, balanced, and logical. It's meant to be expensive early on. That's why its mana cost is 90. Otherwise it would be unfair for the opposing team.
