Like I used to win 25 and lose about the same, but earliervwith my winning streak I only gain like 18 lp and now I am on a losing streak and each game I lose 18LP, what decides the amoung of lp i gain/lose?

Mmr. If your mmr is lower than the average mmr of that division you lose more than you win. Same goes for if you have a higher mmr you gain more than you lose to the point where you can skip divisions

This is true, but would only be applicable if he was losing more than he is gaining or vice versa.

He says he is losing/gaining the same amounts - so whether it's +- 18 or +-25 it would indicate his MMR is average

I would guess that gains/losses in higher tiers simply climb slower in general. Skinner boxes gotta reduce the rate of rewards to keep the player addicted.

I think its based around your teams MMR value compared to the enemy teams MMR value.

For example: Let's say your teams MMR is 2,000 and the enemy teams MMR is 2,200 (they are more likely to win - therefore, if you win you will get a higher LP gain like 25)

Same for reverse: Let's say your teams MMR is 2,200 and the enemy teams MMR is 2,000. (YOUR team is more likely to win - therefore, if you win you will get less LP gains like 18)

If this is true, and you're queuing in brackets which have more people queuing ranked in brackets below you, you will forever be punished with greater lp losses and fewer lp gains simply because riot thinks you should somehow be winning games from your 1/5th contribution (funny huh). I can personally attest that I've lost quite a few games where it felt like i was the only living person playing on my team, and to lose 22-23 lp for it. Kinda silly.
