It may be ridiculous thought, but I believe silver tier is extremelly overpopulated.

I have been playing league for two season now, and I have made 3 accounts into gold this season. And one thing I believe that is silver tier is overpopulated. Consisting of 40% of the ranked populace. As one who experienced it intensively this season, every game seemed to be a literal mash of bad players being snowballed/feeding to hell by good players. Ranked in silver tends to be this battle of titans who surpass the other members of their team and enemies which...well rarely even contribute to the victory. I can't hardly see the difference between the tiers in silver 1 to 5 . It's also not just about feeding. I recognise a lot of matches with extreme cases of knowledge gaps between allied teams, major examples are objective calls made by players without knowledge backfire hard and destroy a game. others are pre-6 drag calls, baron while enemy team is fully operational, not building a sightstone, charging into enemy buff solo...and the occasional rune page clogged with all of the runes you can get with tier 2 quints thrown in.

This large gap of "I don't know what my fellow player is doing", "Is this person even prepared to come to rank" feeling is the so called buzzword, "elo-hell" and I believe is somehow justified, since Silver games are really rare to have all 10 people on the same level of mechanics and knowledge level. The feeling of the player being obliterated over by a superior player without even knowing WHY, tends to lead the person in question to a confused frustrated rage which often leads to your common toxic troll, inting, flamer. I sort of have sympathy to these people, since they are just there to be stomped of LP. Literal cattle to be stored in silver to be farmed. This is sort of wrong.

(Gosh, writing this make me feel im a sort of animal protector activist here...)

What I think as a solution of this is to divide silver into more smaller divisions, and allocate players in their rightful positions to relieve this problem, so that rising players are pitted into a more interactive game, which is not a game of find the worst player and kill him over and over with rengar, and people who needs to train to get higher has a chance to do this without being level 1 cheesed to death. And of course this also prevents boosting for a slight margin.

what do you think?

Actually, more people belong in silver, as it currently stands.

There are so many people that were boosted to gold, plat, and diamond via dynamic queue. Their populations increases a huge amount.

Gold+ population, percentage-wise, more than doubled.

Yeah, I believe that too in many ways. Well of course gold tier gets those trophies, but game health wise this population standard is absolutely abhorrent. I do not belive the idea that when you are gold, you are certified suddenly as high-elo.

High Elo doen't really apply until Diamond 2+.

Anything below, but still at least gold, is simply considered above average. Mistakes and consistency is what sets the tiers apart. Gold+ starts to shrink that difference drastically, which is why its so easy to get to silver, but can be difficult to climb past for some players.

As far as matchmaking, you can blame Dynamic Queue and Role Select. The soft-reset to ranked should fix the Dynamic Queue issues, but Role Select may keep the acceptable MMR gap in any given match much wider than it was in previous seasons. We'll have to see if it gets better with season 7.

Finally a person who agrees role select is bad. I strongly believe this system just eliminated a large chance of counter picking and greatly decreased the meaning of banning in solo que. Intent pick is also a large sin.

Yeah sorta but if you are better then you will get lead and win most of the time because the enemy team has the same chance

Ok, one thing here. "If you are better" this term seems to mean something entirely different in silver. I went to gold 2 last season and while I made multiple gold accounts and I can say this. Lets say you have better knowledge and mechanics and outsmarted, outplayed the enemy you deserve your tier, but in silver it seems at least two members of the team just came to ranked without preparing and can even be identified in loading screen using api websites. You don't even get the feeling I was better you know. Its just... how can I say it, a 20 min slaughter house snuff film.
