Let's brainstorm what he actually does, shall we? I need you guys's help (Vel'koz mains pls) to know what you feel his niche is.

  1. Angles. Cool trick, nothing to say really.
  2. Cracks on the ground. Eh, this one could use some change. What does it do except minor zoning? Maybe a bigger second proc would make the zoning stronger, but is he supposed to zone? What if instead it became his guaranteed damage skill? Is that something h needs/could use?
  3. Self-peel midranged knockup. Not bad.
  4. An ult between Xerath's and MF's. Not as teamfight-y as MF's, since it's much narrower, but still a long line, slowing, and applying passive which is great against tanks in a TF. So I was thinking: what about making his rol in teamfights to get down as many passive procs as he can (thus tankbusting)? And this would be done through higher tickrate, no slow, wider ray. Else we could have the ult slow everything in a large cone and be able to move more quickly above that cone (for squishie hunting). Or it could cleave magic resist for teamplay.

So what is he?

I'm not a velkoz main but honestly I believe he is finnally starting to get to the point where he can come back into the meta, even the other day in a profesional match when a pro player was hovering over velkoz, the castors thought it was comlpetely serious and didn't critisize it at all. Which tells me, if the castors think it's fine (most of them are plat or higher) then that means Velkoz is becoming a respectable champion again.

As for his role, I feel his role in team fights is to be almost like a kogmaw, but in a more castor reliant way, he stays far in the back while doing high AP based damage, he also shines against tanky teams or juggernaut teams for his true damage allows him to shred. I feel he shines best in comps that have Three major tanks that can protect him, with a adc that has a high damage output, like lucian or kogmaw.

The goal of vel is ALREADY to apply passive as much as possible to do magic damage. And he already pokes down tanks with his passive... that ult idea is ridiculous. Basically, I don't want to sound like I'm mean or anything, but please do more research next time. I have 50k mastery points in vel and he plays bot support and mid very well. No need for a rework here.

To do true damage you mean. And the rework is going to happen, because he has nothing but damage and little selfpeel. I am precisely now making my research, by asking o people like you what his role is. So could you kindly answer?

I love playing him both mid and support and he fits well into a lot of team comps. For example, if you already have a tank jg and tank top, you can choose him as a damage support (although rylai's and liandry make you a little bit tanky). He can kite extremely well and also poke. On top of that, his E can be used as both an engage and disengage; in fact I have saved both myself and my adc (while playing support) a very large amount of times from 3-4 man ganks. Sure he does have a lot of damage in his kit, but it also revolves around his cc. And who doesn't like some damage ;) Hope that cleared it up a bit

Vel'koz's basic combos are QW and EW, which uses a CC ability to hold his target inside the double hit of his W, and then proccing his passive.

Vel'koz is mostly distinguished by the degree of kiting he has along with his range. Other seige mages do not have cast while moving spells to near the extent Vel does, or the notable extra slow on his Q.

hes besically a glass cannon. pretty squishy but landing combos will be severely devastating. he doesn't need a lot of gold due to his skills having a really high base damage and just a couple of items will get him a pretty big power spike. plus his entire kit lets him kite his enemies and prevent them farm.

in a 1v1 if you land e your pretty much guaranteed a kill if you land your full combo. in a teamfight vel'koz is extremely powerful, as his range and skill shots force the other team to be afraid of engaging. should the fight engage and vel'koz is in the back he will provide huge peel or will end up killing players with his long range combos and ult.

he is very versitile and can also play as a support role providing a light cc for your carry and will control the lane with kiting and preventing the enemy adc farm. if you get into a skirmish and they get out alive with low health you can just push the lane to their tower and ult them if they are still there. (people still dont respect the beam.

however should an assassin with high mobility get on him hes pretty much dead. a good vel'koz player will know how to properly space themselves when facing assassins and will check bushes with his q.
