played 4 support games this morning

won 2 lost 2

never got flamed, insulted, no MIA ping spam, nothing of the sort.

in fact both games I lost people either apologized to me or complimented me on my good play either in game or in post game

maybe supports aren't actually the abused child of team like boards loves to claim. maybe you're just using confirmation bias of the toxic players you get occasionally to make those claims

or maybe there's a reason your teammates are pissed at you and you leave that part out when you post about your bad experience on boards

really makes me think

I agree with you, but I can't help but laugh at:

"I played 4 games and had a different experience, maybe what you say is just anecdotal evidence?".

only from this morning

i have a large chunk of my games as supports between ranked and norms since season 4

To be fair, try playing on weekends, or in the afternoons around when kiddos get out of school and start flooding the queues. You'll find more toxicity as the % of players in queue that are mature decreases.

Edit: No offense to kiddos. Maybe I should say this; when people get home from their day. That is because people bring their stresses and anxieties and frustrations from the day into the game with them.

Eh, I've had hundreds of games as support and would say verbal harassment is a very small minority of games, and often when I am having a bad game. I would argue the verbal harassment I get as ADC is far more memorable because its harder to brush off when I struggle to even have decent games in that role.

  • Teamfight starts
  • Poppy Thresh Udyr immediately dives the enemy team
  • Red MasterYi beelines directly towards the blue Jinx with no resistance
  • She dies, the teamfight is lost
  • This exact same scenario repeats itself over and over again
  • MasterYi runs away with the game, red wins
  • Poppy Thresh Udyr flame Jinx for feeding

Every time.

Dude, if the 3 engage/diving champs in the team dive at the same time and the fight is still lost, it was either Jinx not following through with any damage because the ADC is behind because was terribad in laning phase, it is a result of a terrible build or having a shit positioning and die immediately without giving anyone time to turn around and save it

I would thank god for having the 3 engage/diving champ would jump immediately at the same time, what usually happens is 1-2 people including the Jinx guy (or the midlaner) overxtending in a stupid way and force other getting into a fight from a diasdvantage position trying to save the situation, and failing being killed one by one - and if someone decide to not jump in to suicide he get flamed by the overextedning guys -

When there is an assassin lurking the flanks, sending your ENTIRE frontline into the enemy team with nobody bothering to protect/escort low peel carries is a bad idea.

Dude, who are you diving on, their tanks? You are diving on carries or squishies, if you are diving on wrong targets obviously that's a bad idea, but what was mentioned was the coordination of the dive, not the target selection -.-"

Except they have a naut supp and Malph top. Good luck not getting killed in 2 seconds.

Except, for the last time, the original poster was not mentioning wrong target selection, or ignoring important CC available for enemies The dude was talking about only dive coordination, and yeah, if 3 people dive in a coordinate way and are not complete idiot to dive on Naut and Maplh with CC up and around, the fight should be win

These butthurt ADC main are making a fuss over nothing

AninLegions7771 votes

You can't say for certain because there are so many factors involved. For example, if they have a shaco, the ADC is as good as dead. So you just have to chill about it.

That's completely true, but generally the condition mentioned aka coordinated dive netweem all the members with CC should net a win fight, not a lost one like the dude mentioned. Weren't people saying that in SoloQ is better for everyone to follow a bad call than a team spliting because 1-2 guys think another play is better?

I've had similar experiences honestly. Though people are more likely to remember bad experiences than good ones.

did you feel the "support can't carry" bullshit?

cause it always makes me laugh "i can't carry as a support, it means the role is shit not that i'm shit at playing the role"

Big Lincoln3 votes

I don't feel that

I think I do fairly well as support and if I didn't "carry" it's usually a game where I played shit

usually I have great kill participation, idk what boards supports are doing lul

idk what boards supports are doing lul

complaining instead of getting gud :^)

which made supports getting gutted so they can get items when i enjoyed destroying an adc in early game as a support without having items

I remember getting a level 4 triple on old Taric

never gonna have a great time like that again, rest in piece

I find this to be a really odd argument.

No, a support cannot fully "carry" a team. Yes, he/she can be the most influential, but that does not make them a "carry." That being said, a team with a support will almost always do better than a team with an extra carry, so in a way, a support is a carry

Marshbouy4 votes

first you have to settle on a definition of "carry" and what a carry looks like and then you spend a bunch of time arguing over the use of words. Not really worth it.

Maddmazz6 votes

I don't feel there any hard and fast rules, you just run into jerkoffs from time to time and due to the close relationship between adc and sup this happens and sometimes sup is flaming the adc.

The other prime candidate is the jungler so between the bad jungles and the bad laners that don't know how to sit back and play conservative in bad matchups you get toxic shock.

JerkoffAssClowns come in all shapes sizes and roles.

I have been enjoying support lately.

Big Lincoln2 votes

I enjoy support champions but I'm not fond of the role

Stale itemization on a class that should have the most flexibility annoys me

Its because item 3190 item 3107 those two busted items have to be bought if you want to win. Its honestly bs.

ZT Xperimentor6 votes

Four games, that's it? Now try a few hundred and see just how great supports have it.

Big Lincoln4 votes

can't really play several hundred games in the span of a single morning

Ariel the Cruel10 votes

Clearly, you need more accounts. And computers. And hands.

devdev4636 votes

The jungle gets the most shit. I personally do see a ton of very toxic supports that like being the victim though.... They always sit there and flame and don't do anything and if you comment on their deaths and how they are feeding and not helping the team at all they just say "well duh I'm the support". Hate these players. How about you stop trying to shit on all of us for our mistakes and drop a ward and be useful.... Christ.

Solidair34 votes

Your sample of four is very convincing.

That being said, no, supports are not dunked on constantly, but it DOES happen, and it, as all flaming of your own teammates, is unnecessary and unacceptable, but it happens and it's not a pleasant experience.

Or maybe 4 games is way too few to make assumptions.

Moooose32 votes

I support all the time in mid/high diamond, moooose2, and can confirm I never usually get flamed or anything. My problem with supporting is somehow I always get the most braindead boosted adcs I've ever seen. It's just astounding that I'd have an adc that plays ezreal and still manages to get hit by every single blitz hook, even though you can arcane shift out of it. Reminder: This is high diamond. You'd think people would understand champion interactions by then.

Really makes me think as well.

Big Lincoln3 votes

this right here is my biggest issue

ADCs that can't avoid anything and I have to give up all my lane presence and all my mana to heal them

that and trying to corral people to actually taking something after winning a fight, because you're the support and can't do it yourself. wew that's a quick way to make me mad

Enemy team ace in your base. 3 super minion waves baring down on your nexus turrets. "Lets get Baron!" Janna . . . <face-palm> Ok, sure. I'll just clear all these minions. BY MY SELF.

actually the reason i main support is cause i love it when people say something like "the lulu god"

i agree that the role is not a constant stream of targeted toxicity if anything i think junglers get the worst

i think the main reason everyone thinks that supports players are a "abused child" is because when an adc gets angry or is a toxic player they are more likely to direct it at the support as they were in a lane with them the whole time.

I agree that it isn't as bad a people make it out to be, but a sample size of 1 person over two games isn't reliable.

meowwow71 votes

or yet you could be in a high enough elo to where people actually understand that support and junglers do things instead of "getting carried" like i usually would go thresh and would hook the raka instead of the ezreal (before he gets the spell blade power spike) and the adc would complain i wasn't hooking the adc

wait have you gotten an ez or draven yet because those tend to be the toxic adcs for when i play ._.
