No they shouldn't. I know everyone is conditioned to hate Teemo and call him Satan, etc, but he's actually a below-average champion right now. A while ago his shrooms got a MASSIVE nerf, 80% AP ratio -> 50% AP ratio and he never got anything to compensate. His range is much lower than any other range, his abilities are the same, he's insanely squishy and vulnerable to even a weak CC, and now he can't shroom river properly, which used to be one of the best places to shroom.

Hate on me all you want, but bring facts to back it up.

Basically, Scuttle Crab counters everything about Teemo's only real play style of creating death nests at dragon and Baron. I'd say that they should make Scuttle crab not trigger them since it doesn't attack you. Basically, Teemo shrooms should only trigger if an enemy unit steps on it. That and if he actually gets random free kills like this one in the vid showed it isn't working fairly for anyone.

Narasimha2 votes

Then it shouldn't be able to affect any neutral monsters at all. And where's the fun in that?

junglerboy169 votes

Sorry, I worded that poorly. What I meant by that is not only "enemy units" meaning minions and champions, but "Aggressive units" meaning anything that will damage you. Scuttle crab doesn't attack anyone, so it shouldn't interact with his traps is what my point is.

Thryale9 votes

what if his shrooms only affected aggro'd minions/monsters? Since minions are always aggro'd it wouldn't change anything there, but jungle mobs would only trigger the shrooms if they get aggro'd by something else.

Rock Rockburgh2 votes

That would be a massive buff to Teemo as a counterjungler, wouldn't it? If you dropped enough shrooms in the camp, you could take one or two of the monsters as soon as they aggro someone.

Thryale4 votes

Dunno if serious or Troll...

but no, this will not happen for the same friggin reason you don't see shroom nests to begin with. They. Don't. Stack.

(really hate riot's stupid mark down language. doesn't let me use my "annoyed" smilie due to grearter than/less than signs being considered evil)

...huh. News to me. I thought there was a significant burst of damage when somebody steps on the shroom. I stand corrected.

Shrooms deal 0 AP initially and AP per second that scales based on AP (50% total). It's why shrooms should always be spread out. In bushes for example, if I put 2, I put one on each edge. Also remember that every time the shroom deals damage, it resets liandry's (unless I was told wrong). Same goes for his passive dot.

Teemo just keep getting nerfs (direct and indirect) every season without any buffs to compensate, so of course now he's a below-average champion.

He needs a rework for sure. His 2009 design is really outdated and his kit is so boring.

Passive : A really boring passive that force you to stay passive in order to get a short AS boost...really...

Q : Blind is almost gone from this game, why should he keep it? It's too binary in it's effectiveness. Too good VS AA. Useless VS spells.

W : Moving faster around the map is nice, but that active is so weak, and it's only there since you lose the passive when hit.

E : sigh Another passive ability. Only good for early game poke since the damage does not scale well at all with levels past level 9 (and even with items).

R : This thing is just so problematic that Riot just nerf it over and over. An invisible mine that does AoE damage/slow. Nobody likes playing against that. And with how many nerfs it got and the addition of that crab, nodody like playing with it either.

Also, since the release of Gnar, there is almost no reason to play Teemo over him.

Passive: I actually like Teemo's passive, it's useful and can lead into great plays.

Q: Yeah his Q needs to be changed significantly, blind is either OP or useless. It should be a fear or a "hallucinate", which would function like fear but without the slow.

W: W is actually key to his identity as the swift scout, I like it how it is.

E: His E is totally passive, which gives him really only three things he can ever do; AA, Shroom, and Q. It's pretty stale, I love the effect of it but it should have an active too (maybe a smaller form of Cassiopeia's poison cloud).

R: This is also another large part of Teemo's identity. Without his shrooms he wouldn't be Teemo. They should just increase the damage to 70% AP ratio, or raise the base damage considerably.

MadDoughnutz4 votes

His E doesn't scale well? Complete bullshit. Teemo has some of the highest late game DPS in the game because of his E and scaling with nashors tooth. Build him for it and he can three shot an ADC with two auto's and a Q. Even tanks can melt under his E with a void staff. And none of the 'He'll blow up before he gets three auto's off'. That's all about positioning like every other marksman in the game.

Zinju1 votes

I think teemo's passive is what makes him a split pusher and assassin. Hard to catch because he can stealth. Hard to catch if he has prepared his defenses (Shrooms where you'd come to gank). I think Teemo is hard as a champion. You're either really good with him or really bad. Hit or Miss. Rainman used to stream teemo.

Populum6 votes

I am a Teemo only player who plays in Diamond. In season 2 I have been world's #1 Teemo, and I have seen Teemo become a great or bad champion depending on the state of the game. Currently I do not think Teemo is a below-average champion. I think it's hard for other people to judge him because his playstyle is very, very different from most other champions. I went from Diamond 5 to Diamond 3 really fast by carrying many games. I can't speak for tournament play, but that's probably not what you were talking about either. My alt account is Challenger on LAN, playing only Teemo, and I am regarded as the best Teemo in Latin America North even though I am not Latino. All the people's opinions on Teemo in this thread really rub me the wrong way. People have always said he's underpowered except for the brief moments in history where he was blatantly overpowered. He isn't underpowered. He is underplayed, and it is hard for people to master him (learning shroom positioning, most importantly), so calling him underpowered is really an excuse for not being to estimate his real power.

Rinky Dinky2 votes

Amen.

Also, just wondering, but do you play him AP or AD :3

Populum1 votes

I play him AP. AP is pretty strong. I used to play him tank / frozen mallet when I was the highest ranked Teemo in the world, but I feel like it wasn't as good back then as AP is good now.

Thryale1 votes

how does one carry as teemo, oh great lord of darkness? (serious question tho)

Zinju1 votes

I totally agree. High skill cap on teemo and you have to know how to play. I really enjoyed when item 3153 did magic damage on hit, because it let teemo build that for on hit damage, giving him an alternate build. ^_^

Altricad3 votes

He literally got replaced with Gnar as the troll of top lane. It's time teemo gets some buffs gasp yes, buffs surprisingly teemo does need it as he has "clear" weaknesses Riven MonkeyKing Irelia Rengar Vladimir Nidalee LeeSin unlike Gnar Jayce Kennen , top laners with tons of Hard CC.

he is below awerage ballance wise

but ppl never hated him for his power

his kit is just toxicity incarnate

dang didn't know the blast range on that was that big

GaleWinUnleashed5 votes

It sure looks enormous in this case, doesn't it?

maikokk2 votes

if this gif is legit, it would appear the blast radius originates at the center of the unit that triggered it. its supposed to be a 200 range blast, but that champ was more than 200 range from the point of the shrooms center for sure

Generally speaking, the crab detonating shrooms is a nerf to Teemo, so I like it.

In the image you have here, Teemo likes the result, so I hate it.

Critkeeper5 votes

Teemo can go die in a hole for all I care.

BatteryDead5 votes

If teemo shrooms are detonated by normal mobs already then yes, since they do, scuttle crab should, theres no reason to make one exception because someone got mad that they died.

Dysnomian4 votes

Teemo has had many nerfs and probably needs a bit of a rework, mostly just the blind, and how it's super effective against some champs (eg. trundle) and near useless against others (eg. garen). It is also a very low interaction (imo) skill to play against because if you are blinded (as an aa champ) there's nothing much you do except wait for it to wear off.

On topic, I don't think the scuttle crab should set of shrooms.

Cant Teemo go invis and put wards down at the same time? :o

Jungle Lux God2 votes

It depends on whether the Crab is aggroed or not.

If it is aggroed, then it should detonate Teemo Mushrooms. Otherwise, it should not detonate Teemo shrooms.

This gives Teemo the ability to lay mushrooms to help him take the crab, or so that he has the potential to steal the crab when his opponents try to take it, but it also lets Teemo have his minefield of death.

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

There was actually this one time I got a kill because a really low enemy was standing near the skuttle crab as it his a mushroom. Most hilarious thing ever for me.

Should that be OP because you stood too close? I could be wrong but, I think they blow up around the character who hits it. So if a full stacked Cho'Gath stepped on it, wouldn't it be possible for it to have a bigger radius due to the bigger character? The bug is pretty big.

Anyways, I think Teemo should be praised for putting that mushroom there. Not punished because you couldn't use a sweeper/pink. Teemo is already underplayed, why nerf him more?

Have you seen the new Teemo skin on Youtube? It's blast radius particle effect is much more clear, and it's actually pretty huge! But basically, I THINK this is how it works: in the center of the blast radius, you take instant burst damage, and then you get the poison effect. On the outer edges of the blast, I believe you don't take the burst damage, but you do still get the DoT poison, which I believe is what happened in this GIF.

EDIT: I'm wrong about the burst damage, the shroom applies only DoT poison and nothing else, but I was correct about the huge range. Check out the Omega Squad Teemo videos and you'll see what I mean.

balbraaksel1 votes

Teemo is fine, if you really place the shrooms well they're still OP with the right team comp anyway. Shroom in the middle of intersections, shroom in corners, shroom next to a destroyed turret and shroom on locations you don't expect someone to walk except specifically trying to escape and you can still be extremely effective. Also NEVER use shrooms to farm, it'd reduce map pressure because it reduces your maximum amount of shrooms you can have on the map temporarily. (if you consistently use all shrooms) It's also fun to roam while it's still the laning phase to shroom other lanes so they can use that to their advantage to get kills.

I started to really get into Teemo over the past few months and with the new update this actually has bothered me. So I guess this is a bump until it is resolved? Sorry if Riot already addressed this. So please makeit so the scuttle bug does not trigger traps.
