Current Dragon is causing heavy snowballing.

Now, I know there will be downvotes and "Learn to ____" comments, but I'm still going to state this out.

In it's current state; dragon is causing such a drastic change in the game in the early stages, players are capable of snowballing much faster and dominating lanes with an 8% boost to damage as well as carry that damage to create stronger objective control and teamfight capability.

Warding the pit can prevent this by revealing the enemy at dragon and allowing players to fight for the objective, but the sweeping lens a while before taking dragon counters warding and allows the objective to be taken without players knowing. This allows for the takers to have the 8% buff, and prevent the timer for allies from being shown. The inability to tell when dragon spawns until it is checked (And already gone) and estimated by the players will hinder their capability to fight for the objective and set up for counter-play.

Now, what can be done to prevent or allow a safe and competitive gap between gaining permanent damage and fighting for a chance to prevent it is by doing several things:

Let the crab give vision on the pits. This cannot be swept and has it's own internal timer to allow the taker to know when something is happening. It also gives the enemy a choice in whether to risk a team fight for dragon, or let it be until the vision depletes. Enemies can take this vision for themselves, but it allows for a smaller competition until the bigger objectives can be taken.

Swap the 8% damage for a later stat given. This prevents early game snowballing and objective control as well as gives the other players a chance to keep up with competing with the enemy for dragon's stats.

If you leave dragon uncontested for too long and have no sense of "objective control". I would say you deserved it.

Riot gave this latest "dragon buff" to make players feel that objectives are good to take and pretty game changing if you left them to rot.

Blame yourself.

This isn't about individual players, it's about the game as a whole. If two evenly matched teams go against each other, the first who takes dragon instantly has a big advantage in taking further objectives and controlling fights.

Last season whoever took the first drag had big advantage over gold. Hows that sound? Items? Wards? More objective control?

180-200 gold isn't enough to increase damage by 8% on the first dragon.

Taking a dragon is almost ALWAYS a result of taking a strategic advantage over your opponent. Whether you are taking dragon after bot lane recalls, you have superior vision control, or you have a teleport advantage you are gaining your advantage through your "strategy". This is totally about an individual player, a team, and the game as a whole. If the game as a whole didn't have opportunities to snowball then there would be a clear problem with the game. Dragon is similar to a player that is snowballed. Getting a few kills on a mid lane and using that mid laners earned strengths to give an advantage over other lanes is the same thing as snowballing off dragon. No one complains about this function in the game because this is fundamental of victory. Dragon should also be just as fundamental to victory because in all seriousness it is AN OBJECTIVE. objectives should lead to victory. AS for the buff being overwhelming, you are overlooking the depth of the game. You can win a game through split pushes, rotations, vision, and purely team fighting better. A game SHOULD be lost if the enemy team has an advantage, but it's not always true. (CLG.EU vs Moscow 5 // C9 vs vulcan)

I do agree with the dragon providing an easy way for teams to snowball. Once an enemy team gets 2-3 stacks of dragon, they can pretty much defend and rush in anytime the other team tries to nab it and get another. Hopefully this 'issue' is resolved in the near future.

The problem is more team participation amd vision, if you lose the first one, mid and bot need to help the jungler more with vision and keeping enemies from doing dragon so easily. If the jungler is toplane, mid and bot should be able to push the enemies off of dragon if they go for it. If top laner has tp and drag is warded, you have an even better chance of protecting/taking dragon. Essentially, the team that puts in more work will be rewarded for it. You cant blame drag for snowballing a champion that snowballs from kills in lane because they will wreck ppl with or without dragon buff.

The 8% damage isn't as snowball as you imagine, early.

Later though.. It's a godsend ;)

EDIT: What you REALLY should be complaining about is the 15 % minion damage - That is very, very strong. But, even then, that is two dragons and in a proper position, I feel.

The 8% damage allows for better objective control early game, preventing the enemy from taking dragon again by teamfight if enough vision is given.

And I feel minion damage is at fine place for dragons

The AP and AD increase is being decreased to 6% on the PBE. This may not solve the problem, but we will see.

I think the bigger problem is that dragon is vulnerable at level 1 or 2, and it is a pain to control dragon that early.

you can get a few stack of dragon before getting 1 barron buff. dragon has become just as important as the enemy nexus. and with each stack it only get easier to get more stacks. its literally fought over in every game.

pantheon can kill drag without taking any damage. Fun fact

Good plays can overcome an 8% damage diffeernce. Anywayd i want to say that

A) if that buff was later in the list it would make it harder for you to catch up. B) almost all the other buffs are more potent and effectively would make laning harder for you. C) % means it should be better later. Im not saying ur not disadvantaged but seriously an early dragon shouldn't mean doom for your team in the first ten minutes of a match. By then you guys should make it a point to steal or kill the next Dragon

I like the dragon changes. Makes the game more interesting.

Dragons have always caused snowballing. I've lost maybe only 1-2 games where my team got the 1st 3 drags in S4.

As for not having timers, it's your own teams fault for not estimating, and getting vision control before next spawn. It takes teamwork to recover from losing a drag, and if you don't have that in solo queue, you deserve to lose.
