Riot: Why is it when Im top Im first pick on my team about 80% of the time?

Top is one of the most pick/counter pick lanes and Im first pick all the time. Why are Role/Pick order not random?

First time here?

While I can't say what does or does not cause the first-picking to occur, here is a suggestion I can make, based on my own strategy when I'm first pick as top.

Since I (At this time of writing, at least) own all champs in the game (Don't necessarily PLAY all champs) I ask my teammates if there are any champs I can lock for them since I'm 1st pick, commonly wording it something like this:

"Anyone want me to lock a champ since I'm 1st/1st Pick?" (The 1st/1st pick is used interchangeably) Whether or not people take up the offer is entirely up to them, but it's something I do myself.

For those that do, I can lock their preferred choice, and it in a manner of speaking allows me to counterpick the counterpicker, because my opponent usually chooses sometime before the person I've locked a champ for, and I can breath at least a little easier knowing I'm not screwed instantly.

For those that don't; oh well, I've at least made the offer.
