So Riot Deleted the post about needing more ways to knock Yummi off her target.

5050BS··155 votes·23,291 views

Tons of Game play discussion in the thread ABOUT a game play topic.

Some Moderator deletes it saying it did not fit the Gameplay forum.

We need more ways to have Yummi off of her target. Be that knocking her off or giving her reasons to want to get off her target.

Isn't yuumi attaching to a target a gameplay mechanic? Yuumi-garen screamed Demancia at my pick'ems and blew them up. I think that's a gameplay issue when a high damage squishy champ gets infinite safety.

5050BS18 votes

These was even really good suggestions too.

Best one IMO was flip her passive and her E. Make it so her E is a shield with small speed boost and to actually heal she has to jump off and auto then jump on.

Death by Glamour3 votes

tbh that sounds clunky as hell.

why not grounding effects knock her off her target

Linna Excel2 votes

This would be good. Grounding effects knocking her off would at least give a few champs an option to interact with her.

5050BS5 votes

So who could do that? I know of only one champ wtih grounding Cassiopeia

Careful now. I once got suspended for using that exact same term. The mods just proved me right in the end.

The mods are very inconsistent with threads like that. Sometimes they'll delete them and say they belong in C&C While other times they'll delete C&C posts and say they belong in gameplay.

I tend to find that just recreating the post and calling them on it is the best method.

50/50 they're mistaken, which is provable by copy pasting their own rules if need be.

Per your removal message:

This content has been removed as not being appropriate to the Gameplay sub-board. We expect posts here to be relevant to League of Legends and ##be generally constructive in nature. This would include builds, matchups, tactics and the like. ##Posts that are largely complaining should be directed to either RANT or General Discussion.

Emphasis added to the relevant parts.

While there may have been discussion happening in the comments, the main post itself did not meet those qualifications. Actually the post in question did have constructive elements in it. I guess you allow other moderators to post rants (see post about Clash and Dynamic que) but not others in a similar vein.

Mods change around every few months or so.

For example Academy Kayn is a player made moderator. I dont know whats the criteria to become a mod.

But apparently the moment people become mods they enforce their own personal agendas with impunity.

It doesn't matter who burned more books, the point is that books were burned, knowledge was suppressed, writers, ideas, and discussion were censored, and the Nazis were the most infamous people to have done it.

Just like the case here with the Yuumi thread. I visited the Yuumi thread, thought some people had some interesting ideas even if I didn't agree with all of them and now it's gone despite people talking about the game in what was effectively a constructive manner. They were proposing ideas, and some people were proposing other ideas or why the previously proposed ideas may not work, like an actual discussion, and now it's gone. The reason given by the moderator isn't sufficient based on what I actually saw going on over there, and if it was removed because of a couple people having an argument then you might as well close the entire forums.

that might be a bit of an extreme exaggeration but the hate of the moderators here is pretty unfair (try dealing with reddit moderators who won't explain things outside of directly asking them a question) so i can kinda see why people are upset especially when talking about nerfing yuumi, but blatant hate for the forums mods is kinda unfounded (usually at least)

I think the biggest problem lies in the ability to have different interpretations of the rules which is a super big pain in the ass especially when you go into a section to talk about Gameplay and find out No No No thats ACTUALLY General Discussion. It is incredibly frustrating at times how they distinguish between Gameplay and Gameplay related General Discussion

Because the purpose is not to guide people, it's to censor them by making the effort of rewriting and reposting a thread in another forum a disincentive in itself to continue the conversation.

My thread criticizing the horrible idea of giving Senna a shroud mechanic when they couldn't even balance Akali's (which affects a single player and not multiple) was removed and they told me I should repost it in rant or general discussion, which makes no damn sense considering a champion's gameplay is being discussed.

The old forums (parchment ones) had that functionality. Once the move to the Boards happened, the functionality was lost. There's a reason so many of us fought hard against the move since we knew this platform was inferior in many ways.

There also was very limited moderation back then which is why many people may not remember this. Only reason I know is I had a thread moved.

LatetotheRace5 votes

Is this something y'all are actively pushing for still? There is functionality I can 100% support for the mods to have, but that is not synonymous with authority and I want to make that clear.

The new forums are pretty linear in design and I doubt this would take much effort on the part of anyone to implement it, so let's get it done?

According to this post, Rito is unwilling to pay the money to hire a programmer to add necessary features such as moving threads and Rito is also unwilling to give access to their unpaid volunteer programmers to add that feature either.

Regardless of how little effort it would require & how extremely useful & beneficial to moderation it would be, it simply won't happen. Because a multi-billion-dollar international corporation is unwilling to spend money for the convenience of their staff and customers.

So why censor, the opinions of people? It can't be done, by you, ok if enough people collectively voice an opinion its possible that something is done, yes unlikely, but dosint mean its impossible, hell it has happen before. It be most beneficial to you as well as the community to not delete post like this, and simply look past it, its not in the wrong section, its not harming no one. If you deprive people of the option to voice there opinion you get backlash, this is backlash, i think mostly deserved. As long as people remain civil i don't see why anything needs to be deleted. Unfortunately now this thread turned from gameplay talk, into moderators, and this is none other then your own doing, consequences. Nothing against you, though your comments, will be heavily scrutinized.

ModAcademy Kayn6 votes

Because it's not censorship. Ryker isn't telling anyone they can't post what they want to say, they're saying that it's better posted on a different board. Just because it's not harmful doesn't mean we shouldn't enforce the rules that every subboard obeys. A gameplay topic in Player behavior technically doesn't harm anything either, but it's still the wrong place for it.

And I'm aware, the 140 downvotes on Rykers comment is more than telling that people are taking an issue with this. And I'm perfectly fine answering people's questions about why the action was taken, and more than willing to take feedback about whether or not this is what we want Gameplay to be about. That's why we have the proposed Gameplay rules thread, the one Ulanpo posted below (Scroll down real far).

At the end of the day though, if we're looking at the comments on said proposed rules thread, people want gameplay to be more than just a minimal effort board. 22 words which can be summed up as "I don't like this, this shouldn't be like this" isn't exactly gameplay material, though the argument which I do think is valid, is the discussion that took place within the thread. On the other hand, just because people can make a discussion out of a minimal effort post, does that mean we should just let people keep doing them?

Honestly, it's a tough question, and that's why we posted the proposed rules. We want feedback on what people want from Gameplay posts.

Ęsdeath13 votes

I like how you guys expect people to follow those rules through think and thin, not caring about raising a bit of tolerance. The moment you see something in a thread that damages the rules (which might not even be the OP's fault), you immediately either remove the entire thread or entirely lock it. It might not even go against the rules! It might just be a little slip, that you guys immediately take the chance to ruin everyone's discussion.

You even come here giving the blatant excuse that sometimes "there is no effort put in thread-writing". You go as far as believing that people come here and carefully examine those rules, line by line, every time they make a thread. And worst of all ... now you come here to impose that people should carefully elaborate every single thread when the title itself or the simplest message is more than enough to make people understand it ... lol. I didn't know people were applying for real-life jobs here.

Surprisingly, you always asspull some kind of rule just to defend your points. You and your friendy-mods who seem to love having their posts downvoted to oblivion because they never learn. In my opinion? I think your role should literally just be reduced to dealing with spammers and flamers; not going around seeing if a casual post is being perfectly harmonious and argumentative or if a lot of effort was put in the thread main-text, lol again.

Sometimes the rules are bad

Sometimes something is in a grey area

Sometimes a moderator should bring in the human element, realize they are there to decide whether action is needed, and make the decision they feel is correct. Not the one prescribed by vague rules. Frankly the rules usually are fine but its an issue when they stretch them like this.

If discussing an ability being changed/reworked is a "rant" then most Gameplay threads in general are liable for deletion. If the rules prescribe this kind of action, the rules are probably wrong. Frankly I don't even think they do, Rant's role is clearly screaming into the void about how pissed you are whereas gameplay is for discussion related to game mechanics. Discussing an ability rework is EXACTLY what that board is for.

I used to give the mods here credit for not acting like the lolreddit mods where they'll delete threads for "Misleading title" or something like that even when the title is clearly describing its contents. But now when many threads can fit into multiple sections of the board, they're choosing to delete things for "Wrong board". If you can't see how that can be abused and how this decision is a bad one then there isn't much hope here.

Tomoe Gozen1 votes

Sometimes something is in a grey area

Think about your statement here. What if this is the "gray area" that the mods had to figure out what to do and with their limited moderation ability, the removal of the post was the only correct solution?

And your response here is "this smells like censorship to me, boss". The thing is, when you say "grey area", this means that the mods themselves have to subjectively decide if this "grey area" of the rules violates it or allows it. And it's the decision (binary one, yes or no question) you don't agree with so your view of the situation is flagrantly black and white - "mods don't approve of it, therefore they're removing posts that criticize Riot" etc.

The thing here is that the subjectivity you've asked for in the first place, you're now subjectively disagreeing with. And if we pass this "grey area" decision down through everyone's subjectivity filter, one after another, we get many people with their own opinion on how this situation could've been handled "better".

There is yet another option for mods and that is to edit (or remove) parts of the post themselves so that the content isn't outright removed in its entirety, in order to comply with the rules of the specific board. However, if the problem was just one word, i'm sure that the mods would've done so in the first place.

Secondly, mods have lives of their own and one mod doesn't moderate the boards 24/7. Their ranks are entirely comprised of volunteers that don't get paid by Riot for doing this "job". So even saying that they should do this more often and watch the submissions (both threads and thousands of comments a day) like a hawk would be overwhelming - it's not a realistic solution.

Thirdly, even if they did this by default (editing the thread), they could entirely change the context of the OP's thoughts when they wrote the thread first. And frankly, it's not the mods' job to rewrite a rant into coherent thoughts about the issue at hand, the OP was trying to convey. One thing would be that mods have simply removed the thread without any context and pretended it never existed in the first place, the other is that they made the decision to remove it and notify the OP about why the removal happened.

-Snip-

Yeah my view isn't an authority over the mods

But the fact is that people regularly complain about this issue and how there's hundreds of posts that won't be recoverable, conversations entirely removed, just because the OP was deemed "low effort". A standard that's extremely vague and other people have pointed out is inconsistent. Me even calling the post a grey area is a bit dishonest, its giving the mods some credit that they are being genuine about the rules.

And honestly the decision clearly was out of hand, hundreds of people, many of which disagree with the OP are upset by the decision. And now this gameplay thread that's supposed to be a balance discussion has now become a moderation discussion. This is the kind of thread that should be moved, but I'm glad they aren't because they need to hear the feedback from people.

Large discussions shouldn't be stifled just because the rules prescribe them. The moderators write the rules and use feedback from the community to change them. They aren't this constant thing that isn't malleable. They shouldn't be treated like a sacred law, they should be treated as guidelines to make the boards better. Deleting discussions that could fit into more than one board isn't making our discussions any better, its making people pissed they lost time making tons of posts that weren't toxic, were constructive, and now instead we have this thread that's pretty much entirely criticism of the mods with a minority of it actually being about Yuumi. Their decision clearly didn't make boards discussion better.

If a thread could belong on multiple boards and has hundreds of upvotes don't delete it just because you think it should be moved

This seriously should be common sense, how do you have this disconnect? This is far from the first time people have complained about it. If you feel the need to make it known just pin a comment stating you think it should be moved, but its being allowed to stay up so discussion can continue.

Instead, you're such sticklers for the rules that you stifle discussion. What good does that do for discussion especially when its such a minor rule? And frankly it wasn't even close to a rant, I saw the thread. It's what you see literally everyday on gameplay, a mix of complaints with balance suggestions. When are you going to delete all those threads on the front page classifying them as "rants"?

"Posting designed to bait conversation or falsify content."

Being wrong =/= being misleading. Someone can be misinformed and not be trolling, falsify content is when they're showing actually altered content from a source, and presenting that as the true source. The rule is there for purposeful attempts, but people are misinformed every day by accident.

it's just loading the post but I'm assuming it's this comment

"It's not entirely unconstructive, but it's still probably better for GD than Gameplay. Thing is, Gameplay should be about discussions, GD should be about conversations. That might seem like a fine distinction, but I think it's an important one. My friends and I sit around griping about League all the time. None of those conversations would be fit for Gameplay."

In which case, why is this post up?

https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/4xPBcw5Z-ivern-is-simply-wonderful

or this one

All on the front page. None of which have any more potential for a discussion than OP's post. OP proposed a chance, these are just threads talking about champions, no discussions.

According to Ulanpo's comment he's quoting these rules:

DO CONSIDER HOW THE READER IS INTENDED TO FEEL OR RESPOND. Posts that encourage thoughtful discussion are preferred. While you may be angry or frustrated, Gameplay is not really the Board for complaining.

2nd thread is just complaining

DO LEAVE ROOM FOR DISAGREEMENT The Boards are for sharing ideas and discussion. Dealing in absolutes prevents those things. Calling for a champion to be gutted generally ends all conversation. Likewise, refusing to see how someone else could have a different - even contradictory - opinion or perspective closes off possibilities.

If this rule is followed, half of gameplay should be deleted and not hit the front page, instead we see constant threads of "Nerf X" such as:

Personally. No.

I dont think tahm should spit out allies if he's cc'd

I dont think Yuumi should get knocked off her target In ANY way.

Thats not good. (We Punish you because your ally couldn't dodge a stun)

We should reward Yuumi's for going off her ally. For example. (not suggesting All these at once. But you get the idea.)

-Make her Q refunds half the mana when she uses it off her allies. -Give her passive shield more than one auto to grant bigger shields. (like 3 autos Max) -Make it so that She doesn't get Mana regen while shes on her ally(But give her ally a % of her mana regen whiles shes on) Then give her back % of her mana back based on her Mana regen On autos) -Make it so that If she leaves an ally she cannot connect to another ally so quickly(In other words, she has to go down with the sinking ship rather ditch, walk a portion to get another ally) -Make it so her dash to allies is significantly Smaller Back to range when shes already on an ally. -Have it so that when staying on the same ally for to long the adaptive power decreases 70% over time. and after leaving she'll have the adaptive for 2-3 seconds. (this way she can get some attack speed, maybe for the 3 shield passive) -have 10% of the damage her attacked ally to be redirected to her(So she has to get off her ally to heal her self If she becomes low)
-It might be even cool to see If Yuumi herself becomes a projectile when she dashes from ally to ally dealing the same amount of damage of her Q)

idk, there is a lot they can do. This is just to make her more rewarding and more riskier.

She currently has no risk out side her Passive... Which they nerfed.
