I see two possible scenarios for the upcoming tank item/base stat changes

dunder kill··11 votes·1,289 views

Scenario 1:

When Riot says "tanks" they are referring to only Vanguards and Wardens. Other 'tanky' (Note: NOT Tanks) classes such as Juggernauts, Divers, and Skirmishers that normally only build one or two offensive items then full tank items to survive receive massive indirect nerfs. We then have multiple classes of champions that are destroyed and are doomed to get chain exhausted and deleted in fights.

Scenario 2:

Riot extends the term "Tanks" to include other 'tanky' (Again please note there is a difference) melee fighter classes. This allows the other classes to build more damage without sacrificing as much durability. This leads to them being much too strong as they can pump out more damage while not missing out on as much durability.

Option 3: I am optimistic and Riot gets it right?

Be honest, when did they ever got any of those right?

it's the scenario 1, except that juggernauts are the only one not going to get nerfed because their base stats are going to be buffed

except darius i think, i can't see him having again stronger base stats

He's still going to lose a ton of stats by mid/late game due to the tank itemization he normally builds.

Juggernauts are already balanced around having their high base stats. If you just chop off a bunch of their defensive stats, they're going to be drastically weaker then they are currently

Oops I actually misread. OK, so what are we going to do about the other classes that are about to receive huge indirect nerfs?

probably not so much i think

they will first look at their performance then see if they need tuning

scenario 2 sounds promising, maybe juggernauts will actually get to be carries for a while

Or scenario 3, where all champions, regardless of class, receive tweaks to their defensive stats.

IE: Tanks receive really big changes so they receive the most benefit, juggernauts get decent changes so they receive decent benefits, and tanky divers/skirmishers get small changes so they still benefit more than squishies and can get moderately chunky.

Hint: This is what Riot said was likely going to happen when the Vanguard update was announced (defensive stat changes to all champions).

But... skirmishers should not be chunky and should instead relying on juking(Riven Q and E, Yasuo E, Fiora Q), shielding(Riven E, Yasuo passive and R), or blocking(Yasuo W, Fiora W) damage .

If Riot has the good sense to remove %Pen/%Shred itemization then I can see a 'nerf ALL the tank stats!' situation working out alright.

Wardens Vanguards and Juggernauts will be getting stat improvements

Option 3:

Two of the three big reworks are insanely broken and warp the meta for a few months before being gutted. Every other pure tank is indirectly nerfed and we begin to see divers and Juggernauts mid and bot because of how overturned bases are and how deinflated gold becomes in terms of defensive items

GigglesO1 votes

Scenario 3 they buff tank items, and then everyone builds tank. This leads to an eventual nerf of said buffs because other classes use the items too well.

What if new items give defensive stats based on the base stats, like Streak's?

LordBrasca1 votes

In the first week it will happen the same exact thing it happened with the juggernaut update: the new stats/items will be abused by champs that aren't supposed to make use of it.

Take as example item 3742 , it was supposed to give a bit of stickiness to champs who didn't have any jumps/dashes etc., but what happened instead? Every champion that already had mobility in their kit decided to build it, transforming their mobility from "fine" to "broken op".

Basically either it's going to fuck over the champions which need a little tanky.

Or it's gonna be juggernauts 2.0.

riot: we know juggernauts and and tanks shit on bruisers in the toplane but we will nerf them anyway.

I honestly don't even care at this point, for the love of god, just get us OUT of this Lethality meta!
