Mundo gets stomped if the darius isnt a total retard.

Ekko is an easy lane because he has zero sustain and the poor bastard has been nerfed and nerfed and nerfed and nerfed.

Diana is an ez lane, she needs lvl 6 to have a chance.

Fiora is an awkward skill matchup.

Riven I whole heartedly agree is a bitch.

SwaggyMcGhee4201 votes

Riven has to kill him in one go, or else he just pulls her back when her skills are on cd and stacks his passive. His slows are killer, and he can just get early armor for an easy lane.

No she doesn't, she has a ton of ways to escape and make short trades safely INSIDE A MINION WAVE (darius can't do the same).

If riven is trying to fight darius outside of the minion wave then she's boosted or she's ahead.

SwaggyMcGhee4201 votes

How do you make short trades with someone who has a 90% slow and a 40% slow along with a pull? The only way you'll get away from him is if you use your abilities, in which case you can't use them to trade and will lose a lot more health than him

Because her dash has a small cooldown.

She goes in with Q's and does what damage she can, stuns, and dashes away. If the riven is quick and experienced, 8/10 times she'll be out of apprehend range by the time darius tries to pull and the animation ends. If riven isn't as quick and experienced, then I'd say it can fluctuate but yes darius has a chance to repull and extend the trade heavily in his favor.

However, with riven, when she fights in the wave she can get away with it because her stun and dash away removes most minion aggro, if darius goes in on her with an apprehend, he's going to get chunked by riven's minions, and riven has a propensity to build up big waves whereas darius has to save his Q for dueling riven because when that thing is on cd she can go HAM.

Yes, once darius builds wardens, there's really nothing she can do because her chunk is too small and he can afford to get behind her and her turret when she goes in on him (so there is absolutey no chance of her dashing away), but he can't do that all that early on, and if riven kills him just once, she can snowball. When riven snowballs, she snowballs HARD.

Hop over to dariusmains reddit and see if you can convince the folk there that riven is an easy matchup for darius. I'm still not convinced, and the only reason she doesn't get banned by me is because Vayne is still a must and if vayne is taken I'd rather face a riven than this dreaded asshole Jayce

Riven doesn't have to kill him in lane. There is no way in hell Darius's slow ass can force himself upon a competent Riven if he gets the advantage in lane and her damage outscales his defenses hard come late game.

Ima have to agree with swaggy, riven doesnt do much late game. Shes a pretty good split pusher with her dueling capabilities but far inferior to other late game splitters like nasus and tryndamere. Her teamfight late game is mediocre, especially against darius who has enough cc to lock her down to fighting only him, and she'll get shredded way faster than darius will.

Mundo would probably just farm with cleavers though. Not sure who would outscale who in that matchup though.

Fiora I definitely agree with you on.

Riven....I'd say that it really depends on the skill of the riven player, basically meaning that it is her match to lose. That being said, if you can get any form of early harass off on her (Honestly I'd be tempted to start with E/pull and then go into W, to attempt to cheese out Darius's passive proc because it does a metric fuckton of damage), and you can dominate her.

Darius has better peel, better AoE damage, and relatively similar tank dependent upon how many times he lands his Q heals. Mundo is far from meta right now and I think the extreme ease of obtaining grievous wounds is why. Without his ult, Mundo is a big fat dummy that literally just walks around trying to auto stuff.

TheOvermind1 votes

Fellow darius player here. I have my own insight to share on those matchups:

Totally agree about Mundo , even tho he spikes kinda hard at levels 9-11 . Darius out scales once he caps cdr.

Ekko is annoying to lane against , but can't really put any kind of pressure on you.

Diana ; agreed , if you can get some MR by 6 she is donezo.

All in all , darius has the upper hand in the laning phase vs fiora , even though a single mistake is death sentence. Late game this bitch is my worst nightmare as darius. Usually there is something I can do to duel anyone lategame; not with this bitch. Well not since the qss changes.

In my experience the riven matchup is my worst in the laning phase. Unless you get a juicy passive proc on her at level 1 , and rush armor asap, you get your shit pushed in. After chain vest and tabi , she is donezo tho.

Ty mr Findlay.

TahmKench Eat him as he readies his Q to make the heal miss and you get a ton of damage off onto him. And only start fighting him after his Q goes on cooldown so you have plenty of time to stack your passive onto him.

Camille is a woman, and if youre talking about kench v darius, kench gets fucking stomped. Darius beats every tank in the game in a 1v1, it's in his nature to do so.

Shuyin1785 votes

You clearly know nothing of the Kench if you think he loses to Darius. It's all about how you time his E shield and when you W Darius to make his heal miss.

Oh right for the dunk? And darius just waits the shield out. With the exception of devour, nothing in kench's kit can chunk darius in any meaningful way. Get the hell out of this thread with the off topic and wrong advice.

Give him a shot, if you move and time abilities correctly then you will win against Darius 9/10 times.

It doesn't matter if a person is in Diamond or Wood tier. Respect EVERYONE, not just people you think are worthy of your time.

And FYI, the guy wasn't spreading misinformation. He was spreading what he thought worked. If it works for him, it can work for others. Don't blatantly tell him it doesn't- especially if it worked for him already.

I'm starting to get a sense you might be a big flamer. If I'm wrong so be it but I definitely wouldn't want to play with you.

Im not interested in the whims of the majority anyways, most league players are bronzies and silvers.

33% are gold + and you were being corrected by many players who fit this category as well. also, have you ever tried a 1v1 versus a kench? he doesnt seem intimidating at all and it seems like almost anyone should be able to beat him, but for some reason, he always wins... i think his base stats are really high

I have 1v1 vs a kench quite a few times a darius back when kench top lane was "in"

It's an easy lane matchup. Worst case scenario you can stay in the thick of minion waves and Q kench with little to no retaliation since kench Q can get creep blocked. Push his wave hard into his turret and he's a mediocre farmer, so he loses CS.

The only time I ever really got my ass handed to me by a kench top was when I was playing nasus (before his ult changes).

ask a kench main not me lol

Noblewind8 votes

Not totally true, tanks like Voli and Kench can do well against him. Stacking health is better than armor against Darius early and with TK you just need a fairly early AS dagger. These 2 out trade Darius early in a straight 1v1 if you stand inside his spin.

Garen maybe, I haven't really seen this match up a lot, but in theory Garen should be able to W to avoid a lot of damage, but I am not sure if he could have a sustained fight which is what Darius is all about.

Yes, in the way that it takes significantly less skill to beat yasuo with darius, than it takes to beat darius with yasuo.

However, with enough skill/experience, yasuo can outplay and beat darius.

Interesting, even at the competitive level, darius still shits on yasuo most of the time. Of course, that was last season, so the data is outdated; both champions have fallen out of competitive favor.

Spicy Rice2 votes

Yeah, it really comes down to who knows the matchup better

The Whamboozler1 votes

With enough skill and experience Yasuo can beat ANY of his counters. His kit is THAT good. This is why I freaking hate Yasuo. Well, that and "HASAKI!"

Spicy Rice1 votes

Thing is, the yasuo player has to be insanely more skilled than their opponent to beat his hard counters.

For example, If i play my yasuo at a diamond level, then yes, ill be able to beat silver annie/kayles quite often.

If both players are at the same skill level though, the yasuo will likely lose the matchup.

Basically, the higher you go, the harder it is to beat his counters (hard counters that is). While darius is called a counter, its really just a hard matchup, as you need to understand when both you and darius have your powerspikes, and how they interact with each other

The Whamboozler2 votes

Well aside from being speculative as hell... this post is also not taking into account one thing. Utility. Options. Variety of kit.

Diamond Yasuo might not be able to roflstomp a savvy diamond player of equal skill. (This is assuming skill IS equal, which is almost impossible to judge, really.) But Yasuo's kit scales absurdly hard with his gold AND gives him a lot of options for playing and winning the game aside from "1v1 my opponent and snowball". That's simply his easiest way to win. Windwall is an absurdly powerful defensive spell that can win a teamfight alone if it's used to save your team's adc from a high-value spell or series of auto attacks. Yas's ult can also win a fight, and he can do it from safely in the back line if his team has knockups... he won't need to expose himself to any risk at all. He can build into a tanky bruiser or a bursty assassin-type. He can splitpush AND teamfight. He has so much power in his kit not because it's good at one thing but because it's good at a LOT of things.

This means the enemy needs to not only be able to handle Yasuo in lane, but they need to handle everything he can do. They need to be able to handle him if he roams to assassinate other lanes. They need to handle him if he plays SUPER PASSIVE and farms to outscale them. They need to be able to deal if he abandons lane early to go hang out with his team's Wukong or Malphite and crush teamfights with the wombo combo. In short... Yas can win by gloriously outplaying you in lane. He can also win if you're not as versatile and adaptable as he is and he just does something else.

Not many champs have his level of utility, power, and to top it all off... scaling. The problem isn't that Yas needs to outplay and stomp you to win... it's that for all but the most overloaded of champs, THEY need to outplay and stomp on HIM to win. And skills being equal and Yas being built VERY well to handle his counters... that makes it pretty hard to do. 90% of the time when I see a Yasuo get shit on, it's because the Yasuo did something aggressive or stupid and got it turned on him. Yasuo's kit makes it very hard to force him into bad spots... and it lets him dictate fights. This leads to people playing against him getting incredibly frustrated and feeling somewhat helpless.

I don't think he's OP. I just think he's really poorly designed and brings a lot of frustration, bad blood and poorly-thought out interactions to the game.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

I've done it with Irelia before. Dodge his Q, stun him if he pulls you, use short trades and AA's, wittle him down and go all in at ult with that one part of Trinity Force that I forgot the name of- the one that gives you extra damage after a spell.

TyrekGoldenspear2 votes

Spellblade my good Irelia player.

AcidTheWarlock3 votes

Shen, if he wasn't so shit.

Taunt to stop the Qs, W to stop AAs (and therefore stacking), ult to save teammates from dunks, passive can eat so much damage mid/late-game, and Q shreds Darius' HP hard.

You'll probably get shoved in early tho, just saying. Ult ASAP and snowball other lanes, cuz that's what Shen does.
