Proposing Zac Buffs

I've been playing a lot of Zac lately, and even though he is very fun to play, he's quite useless. Since he's been non-meta since the nerf following his release in 2013, I think it's time he's seen some buffs.

  • Buff his Passive so that he can split into more blobs later in the game. His passive is 100% useless in late game teamfights because of how fast his blobs can be killed. I'd suggest maybe splitting into 4 bloblets at level 1, 6 bloblets at level 6, 8 at level 11, and 10 at level 16. Blobs would of course have to be nerfed to only contain 10% of his max health down from 12%.

  • Buff his Q. Since he actually has to get within a fair amount of range to use it, I'd say either increase the slow or make it a silence. He is reliant on landing his E when ganking, but even if he does land it, he has no follow-up because of his ult that you actually have to get behind enemies to use. If you land your E, pretty much every champion with a "Flash ability" can escape your gank (Renekton, Riven, Kassadin, Irelia, Lucian, Ezreal, Graves, etc).

  • Increase the CC on his ultimate. Right now, his ult is a Xin ult with less range. It acts well a disengage at the moment but relies on Zac GOING BACK IN to use it. Not only that, but 3 out of the 4 jumps are useless if you land your ult perfectly in a teamfight. I see no fair reason why his ult can't CC on all of the jumps. Maybe just buff it so it's a 0.5 second knockup every time he lands his ult, but it only knocks BACK the first time he hits enemies with it. That way, he can separate the enemy team and focus the carry.

His alt is the worse part of his kit, it's awkward to use, counterintuitive and often hurts your team. You want to bounce on people yet your alt is moving them around, and rather than doing it once so you can use it strategically (gragas) you keep doing it. His alt should put a heavy decaying slow on each unit hit so that basically if you keep bouncing on a target you lock him down with a perma slow, you are covering them in ooze so it also makes a hell of a lot more sense.

I agree the passive doesn't scale into late game as people get more dmg, it is very useless later on, zed can one auto kill blobs with a full build. Instead the health percentage should just increase with level (probably 25% at 18).

HIs other abilities are all fine just a bit too rough on the cost, if you can't get to your blobs which is too often the case in team fights, you literally kill yourself. I think he needs a bit more safe sustain built in and his kit should rely more on health. I would make two changes: change Q damage to scale with health, to actually make him a health champion rather than pure AP scaling which makes no sense for a true full tank.

Then I'd add a new functionality to his passive that his health regen gets a boost based on how low he is, like 0-30% of total regen per 5 based on his health. This would be unique, encourage him to build health regen as a stat (the passive would be pretty weak with just base) and since it requires him being low it wouldn't work to keep him "topped off" but rather help if he is low from using his abilities and buy him a bit more time.

Zac's passive needs to be reworked entirely. Even if it didn't make him suck (which it does; it's legitimately a negative in lane where it either costs you health or forces you to walk into a bunch of extra harass for a little bit of hp) it would still be unfun.

It just feels stupid to be sitting around farming creeps only having to walk around a little to pick up blobs and then suddenly an enemy walks onto your screen and you start flinging your health directly at them like some kind of moron. PLEASE STEP ON THIS I DON'T WANT MY HEALTH ANYWAY.

Minigames like catching draven's axes are already a little sketchy but if done well and with enough player input they can work. This one wasn't done well. It's just irritatingly artificial and makes you want to play a character that isn't gimped.

I personally thing that while neat, the knock back on his ult is self defeating in the end. Zed WANTS you to group up in one spot so he can nail you with Unstable Matter. If he scatters the enemy team all over the place his damage output drops like a rock. Makes it harder to pick up blobs as well.
