Veigar no longer gets AP from minion kills right? and his ult scales with enemy missing HP instead of their AP Stat

Syndra got better burst for less poke that's a buff for a burst mage

her burst is worse until she has roughly 500(?) AP and her utility changes are laughably negligible.

her 7-ball combo being 'easier' doesn't mean she does more damage.

It was always hardcapped at 7. The change just gimped her sustained damage in order to give her an unhealthily easy 7 ball ult. Which the ult damage will probably get nerfed, because it is a ridiculous amount of damage, that riot made stupid easy to achieve now.

Your information is incorrect veigar now actually gets AP on minion kills and every time his spells land on an enemy champion this means he's not relegated to just spending all his mana on farm and getting destroyed early because he can't fight back.

I don't think any mage has been really screwed by this update. it seems like any skill that had it's damage nerfed was instead replaced with a way to make it more powerful. Tibbers for example can get enraged now thus letting him actually output some really nice damage. Syndra gets to have potentially more than a 6 balls ultimate, brand gets a super awesome aoe passive if he lands 3 spells consecutively etc...

Basicaly the reworked mage are better in some situations.

Zyra is a better zone control mage, but her burst damage is down.

Brand's poke is down, but his tank shreding and combo are stronger. Same for Vel'Koz.

Veigar no longer has advantage against AP, but he stacks more easily and his combo can be used on anyone.

Vladimir has a liiiitle less waveclear and damage, but better teamfight and early game.

Syndra... well she just got buffed lol

Veigar stacks against both minions and champions. Basically he's got two passives to get AP, his passive passive and his Q passive.

Everybody except Vel'koz, Malzahar and maybe, maybe Brand will balance on thin line between unviable and unplayable.

Veigar has chances to be playeble, because he will get insane amount of AP from passive, allowing him to build full tank with lichbane as only damage item, with maxed CDR. But as a mage, no.
