Annie's stun should be like Ryze's shield

General Esdeath ··4 votes·569 views

Why does Ryze passive wear off if you don't use spells but Annie's stun doesn't? She can just hold it and auto attack you with her high range and you can't do anything or she'll stun you. Ryze can't do that because if he tries to hold his shield at 4 stacks it goes away.

Annie's autoattacks aren't exactly all that threatening.

And if she's holding her stun, she's probably not CSing too well.

General Esdeath 1 votes

You can cs with her AA easily enough, it's harder but not impossible. But why does her stun not go away like a Ryze passive?

Marshbouy2 votes

because her stun doesnt allow ability resets.

General Esdeath 1 votes

But it does allow zoning.

Marshbouy2 votes

um. everything allows zoning

General Esdeath 1 votes

Not exactly, the stun is intimidating because of its scaling time.

Marshbouy1 votes

should blitz's Q be removed because it is a zoning tool?

General Esdeath 2 votes

Nope, because he can miss it. And if he does it's on a high CD with a high mana cost.

Marshbouy2 votes

that is the most idiotic statement i have ever read. goodbye.

LOL aight peace fam.

Because she isn't Ryze.

Either you comprehensively compare every aspect of every ability on two champions, or you don't compare. Comparing abilities in a vacuum is pointless.

For example: If you just compare Naut's hook and Blitz's hook, Naut's hook is garbage in comparison. But compare their whole kits and you see Naut has access to a lot more lockdown outside his hook and benefits more from being displaced towards the enemy, which is why it's slower and doesn't pull the target all the way.

General Esdeath 1 votes

I mean comparing hooks in this game can help you with the choice of a team comp/balance. Blitz hook pulls them to you, so it's made to cost more mana. Thresh hook CC's them longer but doesn't pull them as far as Blitz. Naut hook pulls him closer too, because he's a tank it works with him.

Verxint1 votes

In a vacuum, just comparing hooks, Naut has the worst one. When comparing the entire kits, the hooks are about equal.

Did you completley miss my point?

General Esdeath 1 votes

No I got it, what I'm saying is that comparing them helps balance, like who gets what. All 3 of those champs have a hook and shield and a knock up.

Blitz gets the "best" pull while Naut has the worst. However, he also gets the worst shield while Naut gets the best. Thresh is in the middle on those two. BUT Thresh has the best knock up since it's not an ult so short CD, multitarget, and wider range.

Verxint2 votes

Yes.. this is why asking "Why doesn't Annie's passive work like Ryze's" is a stupid question. If you're going to compare abilities, you have to compare them in context, like you're doing here. That's not what you do in your post.

General Esdeath 1 votes

I'm not gonna type out all that, too tired from fasting for that. I just noticed that a lot of stacking abilities fall off except for hers. Ryze passive, Jax passive, Kennen can't keep 2 of his orbs on you and wait to use the 3rd to stun you for more than a few seconds, Velkoz passive.

Verxint2 votes

So now you're back to comparing abilities in a vacuum. I don't think you got my point.

General Esdeath 1 votes

I'm starting to think you just don't get my point right now...

Verxint2 votes

Your post

Why does Ryze passive wear off if you don't use spells but Annie's stun doesn't?

The answer: because Ryze is Ryze and Annie is Annie

you post later

I just noticed that a lot of stacking abilities fall off except for hers

Those abilities are on those respective champions, not on Annie, which is why they work differently. Because they are different champions.

You didn't really have a point to begin with, you had a question and it was answered.

The answer: because Ryze is Ryze and Annie is Annie

So you're trying to tell me no 2 champs in the game have ANYTHING similar or any similar mechanics that this game's entire champion pool was created around...right

The Last Ballad2 votes

In case you haven't noticed, Ryze is getting reworked soon. You might want to think about that before comparing him to other champs.

Also, Annie needs her q to cs effectively, 4 stacks prevents her from doing this without losing her best defensive ability. And her range is short, which means that she needs a way for keeping you away until she is ready to fight(unless you can just poke her from 700+ range)

THINK ABOUT THE CHILDREN!

General Esdeath 1 votes

Forget the children >:^( and Ryze being reworked doesn't change the idea of stacks falling off like on several other champions.

Dangerous Man1 votes

IDK, maybe because they're 2 different champions but Ryze has a higher skill cap which ends with him being better than Annie in the pro scene.

General Esdeath 1 votes

I just like the idea of stackable things through skills that wear off if you stop.

How often has the OP played support, I wonder....

looks at match history

Ah, now I get it. You don't hate Annie, you just don't think support should have options.

General Esdeath 1 votes

What rank is Rook? I wonder...

looks at rank

Ah, now I get it. You ASSUME it's a support Annie, when in reality it was top lane. I know in Bronze 4 you don't see it much, so I understand. However the same applies for mid and support Annie. Thanks for playing, now try again :)

RookPusher3 votes

Sass me all you want, boy. I'm not crying about a character that was released in 2009

General Esdeath 1 votes

Making a point is crying? Damn, I'm not up to date with these new meanings. I'm old, son :(

Ratbert4 votes

Congrats, you couldn't beat a squishy immobile in top lane. Just push her in and force her spells. Unless of course, she's playing god annie and perfectly cs's with autos.

General Esdeath 1 votes

I did beat her though? I was just wondering about it. I'm glad you and Rook decide to be aggressive on a post for discussing something.

RookPusher3 votes

You're asking for things based on your emotions. Regardless of the ramifications that it would have on the game. If you can't see why that's meeting problems, I don't know what I can do for you.

General Esdeath 1 votes

What am I asking for based on emotion? Is that not a rule on the board or even just common sense to not try and be aggressive for no reason? And if you scroll through this post you'll see me and someone discussing and comparing other champions.

RookPusher1 votes

What's it based on then? Data? From where I sit, you laned against her and wanted her to be weaker. If I'm wrong, fine. But tell me where.

General Esdeath 1 votes

Seeing as I've played as/with/against Annie in several games over the 2 years playing, I think some experience is a good source. Not to mention when looking at recent champs/reworks we see stacks falling off such as Ryze passive.

Ratbert1 votes

Except precedents aren't reasons to change future champs all the time. If that were truly the case, there wouldn't be a single new champ with a targeted spell. Don't forget that there are other champs that have stacks that don't fall off, like sona and cait and that riot recently made annie's stacks super visible.

Annie has only one spell that she can reliably chain to prevent loss of stacks, but then if you make the time too short, annie is literally useless because it'll take 5-10 seconds to get her stun up. If you make it too long, then your nerf serves no purpose.

General Esdeath 1 votes

I think Cait's is different and can't be used because it prevents her from using her AA. It's like Draven's new passive add-on that gives a bonus stacks for not missing minions, but I see what you mean.
