To Those Asking for Yi Buffs

Yi has actually been getting some indirect buffs lately and he's also receiving some in the future. Let's take a look.

1. The new jungle. His EXP and gold per second has gone up quite a bit since the full clear now gives more of it overall and because Machete got buffed. He also gets to gank much more in between camps since the spawn rate of the camps doesn't encourage perma clearing that much anymore, since you will have some time where you've just cleared everything on the map and where you will have to wait for camps to respawn.

2. Guinsoo's got 25% attack speed FOR FREE, the item didn't even get an increase in it's gold cost for that. Yes, the bug exists, but once that is fixed I think that the item will be absolutely amazing on him. In fact, I'm already finding success with it right now even though the bug exists, which just shows you how good of an item it is on Yi now.

3. BotRK also got a buff, in this case it's not as extreme as Guinsoo's though. But since it is an item that Yi actually picked up even before it got buffed it means much more for him. The extra on-hit also gets amplified by the fact that Guinsoo's and Double Strike will proc it very often.

4. Fervor gets buffed next patch. I'm sure that his horrible win rate at the beginning of the preseason was mostly due to the fact that it was changed from on-hit to AD which hurt Yi A LOT, more than I expected. Now that the stacks will last longer and now that you'll only have to stack it up 8 instead of 10 times and also considering the fact that all the other things I listed happened, I think his win rate will actually rise.

Lastly, just take a look at this http://champion.gg/champion/MasterYi.

The win rate for Master Yi just got updated on champion.gg today and as you can see, it is currently rising. If it keeps doing that I'm sure he will be fine again in patch 6.24 and that his winrate will sit at 49-50% again, and I'm pretty sure that will happen once the Guinsoo's fix and Fervor buff come through.

If he will still be sitting at 48% or lower at patch 6.24, then, and only then, I think Yi himself deserves a buff. With all the indirect stuff happening to him buffing him now would just risk that he would be over the top with a win rate of over 50%. And as fellow Yi mains, let me ask you this: What would you rather have, a Yi that you can play without restrictions that is only a little below average or actually balanced or a Yi that will have a higher pick and ban priority? I'd glady choose the first of the two.

Guinsoo is bad vs squishies and too expensive, bork - good only vs hp stacking and lategame when all the champs have bigger hp pools. Fervor - decent, but it's not like Yi's problem is damage. Ghostblade's changes were big hit to Yi, also the R nerf. Also with the dmg powercreep who needs Yi at all...

Funny you say that because guinsoo + bork core currently has a 61% win rate according to leageofgraphs. Winning is never too expensive.

You have to think about it. This is only measuring games when Yi is able to build both of those items, meaning he already has bought both with gold when he wins. This means that the Yi that got the items had a large chance to have been fed.

It was pointed out to me that the website I got those graphs from is highly suspect. I retract all claims I made based on that information.

200 true damage and 6% max health every two auto attacks is not bad versus squishies.

Yi doesn't have to try very hard to destroy squishies.

Ghostblade was a sissy punk item on Yi anyway, real men built Black Cleaver.

Squishies can usually 2shot Yi unless you are they are shutdown with no farm/kills.

No they can't. He can afford to get enough bulk to withstand immediate burst and will still out-DPS just about anyone else in a fight.

Even glass cannon YOLO crit Yi will burst an enemy squishy way before they burst him.

Yolo cannon crit Yi can burst with Q + auto, but this strategy can be countered with Banshees or the new lethality item. His DPS is high lategame, but you can't compare him to farmed Azir, Cassio, Viktor, Ryze, Jhin and so on - they have similar dmg output and are safer + bring utility for their teams.

This is probably the first time I've seen someone recommend banshee's to counter Yi. So you block the Q, so what? He then kills you in two auto attacks. Only another duelist can withstand being in base combat with crit Yi for long.

First of all, Jhin is an early game ADC. His huge AD late game doesn't quite compensate for his limited amount of basic attacks and frankly lower DPS than most other carries.

Second of all, Master Yi's DPS is better than all of those champions late game, as is his durability. He dunks on any of those champions in a 1v1, and can itemize to blunt their burst. In team fights if properly peeled for he can obviously be killed by them, but Yi isn't much of a team fighter, no matter how he builds. This isn't a guinsoo's-specific problem. To be blunt, with guinsoo's Yi can actually be tankier than normal because he reaches the attack speed cap with just that and Bloodrazor.

item 1419 item 3124 item 3047 item 3071 item 3812 item 3156

This is the build I am hoping to try when the guinsoo bugs on Yi are fixed. I'm not 100% sold on it (mostly due to death's dance), but I want to try it.

This is a neutral change at best. His early game is better, but he usually reaches his late game a tiny bit slower now.
