When Akali drops, consider this before making "SO OP" posts on the Boards

She has:

  • High CDs
  • Conditional Passive (can only proc after landing an ability)
  • Lots of conditional damage (Skillshot champion)
  • High Energy Costs

What does this mean? It means if she misses abilities - or even fails to capitalize using her passive by closing the range gap, you're given a window to potentially establish zone/lane dominance. And that's under the assumption you even struggle against her Pre-6.

It means early Boots will be effective if you're struggling with positioning and know how to concede a lane.

It also means if she gets a few kills and snowballs, early items will enable her to access lower CDs and high damage before you scale, meaning she isn't OP!OP!OP!; it just means she utilized her gold lead.

  • And in regards to her new Twilight Shroud, that's her kit's reliable tool; arguably where most of her power budget is. It gives you a reason to fear her if she's crashing a minion wave into your turret and has kill threat without your Jungler nearby. Regardless, if she's overtuned in regards to her damage/numbers, that's a different story. But she is an Assassin and will play as such. Stay mindful of that. (^:

Akali Q has like a 2 second cooldown, her W 16 or 18 seconds it start at, Zed W 22 seconds, Ziggs W 26 seconds, Velkoz E 16 seconds, Azir E 19 seconds, Fizz E 16 seconds, Kha E 20 seconds, Shaco Q 16 seconds. So no Akali cooldowns arent actually that high, they are quite average if you look at most mages or assassins. Also Akali rework is the only ninja that can use an ability and get a flat 40+ energy back, Lee sin has to auto attack after using an ability to get energy back, Zed needs to land 2 abilities on the same target, Shen has to hit someone with his Q pull then auto them, Kennen has to hit a enemy with his E, but Akali just has to press W and gets free energy back. Ive seen people say Akali ult has such a long cooldown, but 120 seconds is actually the most common cooldown time for a ult in the whole game. A very large portion of champions level 1 ult has a 120 second cooldown. Finally Akali W not being able to be seen by towers is insanely broken, champions without a dash cant sit under tower to stay safe, and they cant run away from an Akali with 2 movement speed buffs and 3 dashes. Rito reworked all the stealth mechanics for every champion so that certain stealth work in 1 of 2 different ways, and then Akali whos stealth just bypasses every rule about stealth riot had made. Overall i like Akali rework, but it has some glaring issues that if arent change she is going to be perma banned forever because no one wants to play against a champion that can kill you under tower without taking a single tower shot. Fizz may be able to dive under towers but his E has a 16 second cooldown, only works once, and cost 100 mana, where as Akali W last for atleast 5 seconds, gives her energy back, the duration is extended by leaving and going back into smoke cloud, and not even towers can reveal you. So yeah Akali is OP, and if some mechanics arent changed about her before she goes live, she will still be just as OP on live.
