Is Riot really okay with this?
The champion pool has grown so big that there are multiple hard counters to most champions. These match ups are so retarded that a Silver player can easily beat a Diamond player, because skill is totally irrelevant.
Is this not going to be addressed?

Except I'm playing Aurelion Sol and the Diamond player is laned against me as Riven. I can't do a single fucking thing in this game. It's basically just a waste of 20 minutes.

At lower ratings. Not at Diamond. Counter picks can completely remove a player from the game, regardless of skill level of either players.
The Deckowner1 voteswell the purpose of op picks are that they counter all other picks in some way and don't get countered by the frequently played champions.

Well for real I agree with you, I don't think this game takes any "skill" anymore and when I say that I mean it, I'm not going around saying fizz takes no skill (well..) but I'm starting to believe ranks don't really show how good you are at the game anymore.

Some may be brilliant people but this so called skill you speak of is just lots of game experience. I started this game in November, reached level 30 on my other main account in January. Got stuck in bronze 5 on that account, its still stuck in bronze 2 right now. Anyway, I eventually learned to just play all the champions during free rotations and games because now I know how each champions abilities work. Eventually I did a lot better because I knew how to work around these abilities during cool downs.
Long story short, stop thinking of yourself as so skilled. When I watch games like Trick 2 G and other streamers, they make dumb mistakes too. When I queue with my diamond friends I own their diamond/plat opponents with non OP champs. Sure some players in bronze and silver are questionably devoid of common sense, but many are skilled champs who can rip you to pieces in the game.

So why can I carry to Diamond on smurfs and you can't? The answer is that it's because you're not good.

It's probably true that you can get pretty far if you know what to do at any point in the game, but it wont be enough to get to challenger because there you also need to be fast.

you absolutely can't make conclusions based on small samples and especially can't compare stats for different ELO tiers. getting fed in Silver doesn't mean you can do it in Diamond etc. he's clearly proven to be an excellent player and until you also get a higher ranking than him, your comments just seem hateful and pointless with no basis. it just seems like you suffer from the dunning-kruger effect - thinking you're actually good because you're so bad that you don't even understand what you're doing wrong. even suggesting he should 1v1 you is hilarious because it would prove absolutely nothing in a team game where what matters most is knowing how to strategically apply pressure and where to be on the map, not dueling some guy mindlessly. all you can go by is actual performance. there are many styles to play this game successfully.
BTW: What's wrong with playing normals? You'd rather he play ranked when he's just screwing around and not try-harding at all?

not even a psychology major but all you're doing is harassing random people and resorting to personal attacks. in the only metric that is a valid indication of skill (actual results), you're among the very worst at the game yet are berating someone who has proven a much higher skill level (not just empty words from a Silver 4). also, no, you don't beat Diamonds and Plats all the time because you're Silver 4 so you wouldn't even face them in a competitive environment.
I hope you don't look at normals results as something to be taken seriously. beating a diamond in a normal doesn't mean anything at all. most people play normals to relax and aren't even trying to cs well or play their best champions or even make the best winning decisions (sometimes just going for a hero play/kills is more fun). the only time you can actually use that as an argument is if you're beating diamonds and plats consistently in RANKED not random normals. what's next? are you going to tell us about your URF skills too and how you beat Masters players there? no one cares if it's not ranked. and if it was actually true that you consistently have the skill to beat diamonds and plats (not just in lane but in terms of decision making throughout too), you would definitely not be Silver 4. you're beyond delusional.

you have a hilariously inflated view of yourself for absolutely no reason. have you won the Nobel Prize or discovered some huge scientific breakthrough? it's usually the dumbest people who proclaim themselves the smartest. as for this game, intelligence actually plays a minor role to practice. SC2 or chess and a number of other games require way more on the fly thinking than LoL.

How about you link to the article about your personal scientific breakthroughs and also link to your Diamond account? it's also funny to me that you suggest everyone who is good at this game must be an addict or that someone who is a college dropout/etc. cannot be good at anything but rather the activity itself must be extremely trivial. there are also "idiot savants" who excel at chess, musc, maths etc. yet that doesn't make all those activities easy. that's no argument at all.
