Riot, im really confused about kalista

you talk for months about champs like lucian and others and how it is important to have strong, recognizable strengths and weaknesses in a champ. Such as "X champ has great mobility, but lower damage than counterpart and no CC" Or "Y champ has great CC and tankiness, but is slow and kiteable."

my confusion about kalista is this: What are her weaknesses? She has great mobility, both hard and soft CC, high % health magic damage, long range poke, vision patrol minions, low mana costs, resets, decent range on autos...

I'm not saying that she is OP, but I see from most of my games with playing her that she has no real visible weaknesses in any department except for being squishy, which all ADCs are except for graves kind of, but that, and burst, are his strengths.

can we get a rioter in here to let all of us know what exactly is she supposed to be weak at?

Direct target CC is her weakness at the moment. Taric stops her dead in her tracks.

that isnt much of a weakness

i mean, thats like saying that the direct weakness to zed is armor. yes, but then he just builds armor pen and doesnt care about how much armor you have

kalista can just get qss/scimitar and her support can get mikaels.

I'm looking for what she is weak at by herself, not what her enemies should do to stop her. For instance, ashe, the classic ADC, is great at CC/permaslows and iniating + vision and buff control. Thats clearly what shes good at. But then her clear weakness is that she has no mobility and that she has no damage steroid so an ADC like trist or MF can beat her 1v1.

Kalista has no CLEAR weakness. She just seems to be good at everything, and thats what im trying to get at

I wish they would talk about kalista but you are one for 800 boards asking for it and they havent replied to a single one so idk she doesn't need weakness

Her mobility is gimmicky, until she has some good attack speed, you can throw skill shots where she's going to land and almost be guaranteed a hit. Her hard CC is only usable in conjunction with the selected member of her team, usually the support, catch the support out, Kali has no ult. Her magic damage is also reliant upon her having her soul bound with her to attack the same target.

have they given lucian a weakness yet? he still feels like his mobility effectively increases his threatening range by way too much for that to be his weakness.

I thought about it lastnight, let me know if you all thing my thoughts are correct, but: Kalista's kit is a new age reformed Vayne kit.

passive hop replaces the increased speed passive Q - (with the hop already as a passive) damages similarly W - the stacking buff from vaynes W given infinite possibilities on Kalista, plus she gets the same vision that would make vayne such a threat. E - essentially condemns your enemies to death, no walls needed. Kalistas E is easy mode condemn R - least similar; removes a champion from visible combat until they decide to re-engage, like vayne on herself. except kalista can re-position entire fights.

Yes and no.

It's similar to Vayne, but she doesn't have Vayne's dueling power, if you fight 1vs1 between Vayne and Kalista she will win hands down, hell, she probably loses 1vs1 agaisnt all ADC's due to the lack of Ultimate.

She doesn't have a tower killing steroid. So after she goes 1 or 2v5 on the enemy team she can't blow the towers down as fast as Jinx or Tristana can. Because she leaves the enemy team gold/exp starved they respawn too fast; it's harder to 100-0 the towers without them coming back again and interfering.

She doesn't have a steroid, and her only "killing" skill is her E, also I'm not entirely a fan of her passive, as I'm used to kite by walking.

Another weakness is that she doesn't have a "I'll kill you with my ult" kind of skill like other ADC's. Her mobility is superior when free shooting, but when locked down in CC she doesn't have an actual escape like other ADC's.

Have you Kalista much yet? I've actually struggled quite a bit with mana and ask for blue buff sometimes if I'm doing good. As for weaknesses: attack speed reduction reduces her kite ability because you cant cancel aa and dash, she has no attack steroid. The % magic damage can only happen once every 8 seconds on the same target and requires your support, ult does 0 damage and also requires your support.
