Is Shaco really good?

So I saw the Shaco play in the match with UOL and Gambit and it was cool seeing Shaco and winning. The thing is, people believe that it's not that Shaco is good, Gambit just played very horrible. So I was watching Monte analyze the game and he says Shaco is a very bad champion and that UOL got very lucky because they didn't know how to play against it. Had it been a different team, they would have gotten dominated.

So what I'm wonder is, is Shaco actually good or was it all just a fluke?

FOR ME and this is is only personal opinion, he does suck. He brings verry little utility to the team other than a well placed box. His defence is bad. He is like a grenade. Jumps in hopes to kill someone and dies. He brings no cc to the team, he can't do much other than split push and he sucks in team fights.

His 1 v 1 is mediocre, he can be build to be bruisy-tabky but he has no defensive stats so it's pointless.

The only thing is you hope that your early ganks are successful and if they are you can do good, if they aren't you will suck for the rest of the game and make your team play a 4v5. If you play against a tanky comp you are useless. Unless they provide no cc so you can jump in the back line kill the adc, die and take most of their dmg with you.

I used to play shaco alot but he was so inconsistent that i had to stop

Solo queue: fairly strong. Especially in lower levels of play. The higher up you go and the more organized a team is, the less effective he becomes. He is strong very early in the game as he can gank lanes without the enemy knowing he is there until he is right on top of them. He can also kill the enemy jungler early if the jungle is not warded well. His early ganks and counterjungling is very effective as he has access to combat summoners when other junglers only bring flash. He falls off really quickly, especially after people start placing deep wards in the jungle to spot out Shaco before he gets close to their lanes. This forces Shaco to take the role of split pushing in most games after a few towers go down. He gets to split push almost freely because he can turn 1v1s into a 2v1 with his Ult or escape with his Q in unfavorable fights. This split pushing role can cause his team to face a 4v5 if he is not able to get to his team and his teamfighting is very weak. He can only hope to try and assassinate an out of position target and then try to escape before being blown up. His boxes become borderline useless later in the game as they get destroyed with one auto from a non support champ, but they help him clear the jungle very quickly early and he won't take much damage, allowing him to have ganking potential faster than most junglers. His early damage is good and he can usually secure a first blood and get the ball rolling for your team. He just is very risky

Overall though, he's not a bad pick for solo queue if you are decent with him. He is very weak in competitive team play though as he doesn't bring much for his team.
