I have an idea for ap champs going against ad and needing to rush Zhonyas.

Give item 3191 a mini Zhonya stasis that has a higher cooldown (120 seconds) and a lower stasis duration (1 second) and upgrading it will give you the current 2.5 second stasis on its regular 90 second cooldown.

item 3156 has an item before its completion that gives it a mini magic sheild. item 3155

item 3139 also has an item before its completion that gives it a cleanse. item 3140

Makes sense that Seekers gets a mini active from Zhonyas.

Interesting idea but I think it would be too powerful

Hexdrinker and QSS are toned down versions of their parent item's active, why don't AP people get some compensation for having Zhonya's price increase and overall having a harder time early

Well, I like your idea of giving them some compensation --- but a mini zhonyas seems to be too strong to me. Maybe some completely new function that gets upgraded into the current zhonyas would be more appropriate

Maybe an ad shield instead of hexdrinkers md shield

Would be an interesting experiment.

50 AP, Activate - become immune and untargetable for 1 second, 120 second CD.
Blasting Wand + 650g - total 1500g.

Zhonya's Seeker's Armguard + "Baby Zhonya's" + 800g (3500 total - price unchanged)

If the item is literally Zhonya's light - armor, ap, zhonya's active, it would be very strange to upgrade and feel wrong.

If the item is cheap enough without AP, AD's would buy it if it the active was attractive. In an AP vs AP war, the Zhonya's active can often dodge important abilities too, so you can skip paying for armor for the immunity.

I foresee issues making that active too widely available. QSS while rarely bought by AP's, DOES get bought by them sometimes, we don't need AD's with mini-Zhonya's dodging Lux, Karthus, Vlad, etc ultimates.

The price of seekers would have to go up considerably for this change to occur since if it stayed 1200 or whatever it is there is no reason for me to not pick it up as MF or something after my 2nd item to make their Rengar/Zed or something completely useless since chances are my AP mid laner also has one so those 2 champions have 0 assassination targets.

The only thing to stop ADCs from buying Zhonyas now is that it is expensive as hell and has a majority of its cost in AP. Seeker's, on the other hand, has most of its budget in armor and gives 40 armor at max stacks which is not TOO gold inefficient for 1200 and would also give a powerful active very early on in the game (13-18 minutes or so in a close game probably if bought after second item).

Then everyone would just build Seekers lol. A lower stasis duration would probably even be a buff since you only really need it for about 1 second most of the time

Give it a 3 Minute cooldown, or not a statis but reduce physical damage taken by 50% for 1.5 seconds or something (could be called ArmGuard and your champ gets a mini shield for 1.5 seconds reducing physical damage taken by a reasonable and amount and atleast 90 - 120 sec cd for sure)

Tohob10 votes

the price of it would probably need to go up, as the zhonyas active is incredibly valuable, even at 1 second with a 120s cd

Hayaishi28 votes

The active is invaluable, you can't just throw it into a second tier item.

Utility Veigar17 votes

Why not? Maw of Malmortius and Mercurial second tier items have actives and passives that benefit ADs more than AP.

And none of them are like Zhonyas.

well QSS kinda is

NegusInParis2 votes

And kinda not, but I get your point

mikemcparty5 votes

They really don't give you the same type of benefit that zhonyas does. Neither of them do. I would argue that zhonyas is THE best item in the game for what it does. You can't even put a gold value on its active.

Fizz Playful Trickster, Bard ultimate

~100 mana=140 Gold

Next question? Someone want me to put a price on human life?

mikemcparty2 votes

except any champ can purchase it. bard ult immobilizes and entire team and can be used terribly wrong. I would count the bard ult as more negative than a zhonyas. I don't think fizz's e is as negating as you claim.

http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/60572/does-being-untargetable-prevent-all-effects Is this still relevant?

You are kidding yourself if you believe zhonyas active to be the equivalent worth of 100 gold.

kile1471 votes

I'd say Fizz E is more powerful than Zhonyas because although it's not complete invulnerability, it's on a much shorter cool down.

I was being facetious by massively oversimplifying your statement that the active was priceless. Although to be honest my estimate is probably pretty accurate for me, since I am awful at using the active and either use it a second too late or too early and just end up ccing myself.

mikemcparty1 votes

The cooldown is short, but so is the duration of his invulnerability. Most fizz players use it for wave clear and then you can just crush them for 9 seconds or w/e the cd is now.

For zhonyas, it is basically invaluable when used correctly, but also depending on the champion. Obviously, it is not that useful on fizz. But on a champion like fiddlesticks, diana, kat, it is crucial. Especially for the ults of fid and kat.

kile1471 votes

It's incredibly useful on Fizz, because it lets him get assassinations over large distances and get out while being untargetable for 75% of the time.

KuoSenpaiii1 votes

yes.

kile1472 votes

Depends who you ask and why, but I'd say that $4 million is a good rough estimate for a full human life ($50,000 per year is used as an estimate for if a medical procedure is worth covering by insurance companies). That value will obviously fluctuate based on silly things like the color of your skin (on average white people are evidently worth more) or your occupation (Dick Cheney has had several organ transplants nobody else would've ever managed to get).

Luckily Runeterra is a much fairer place that has a simple system where humans, yordles, void beasts, and immortal spirits are all treated equal. You are worth 300 gold and you gain value by killing other people, up to a max of 500.

Thing is a 1 second stasis could actually be more powerful than 2.5s (dodge a skill then retaliate immediately, or dodge a skill and then escape before 4 people get onto your golden booty). Or at least extremely strong in its own right.

Besides, its no coincidence that they make the golden stasis effects 2.5s bc if its consistent we jave an easier time memorizing the timing

forist5 votes

Here's a tip. Build either item 3092 or item 3027 first. Both offer a great mix of stats that are effective against ad mid laners early in the game. FQC is cheap so it can be rushed easily and ROA has a pretty satisfying build path with item 3010 and item 1026.

item 3191 really doesn't need a buff, especially one so powerful.

Spoofghoul4 votes

No we need a different anti ad item

Perhaps something which makes you ''ethereal'' as a toggle with a small cooldown at the cost of mana per second. While ethereal you take 50% reduced physical damage.

Dr Birdie4 votes

Who voted this down? This is a good idea.

Cosmic Charm 30 AP Active: Celestial Barrier: 120 Second cooldown For 2 seconds creates an ethereal barrier around you reducing physical damage taken by 25%.

Combines with Seeker's Armguard to create

Starspeaker's Mantle: 60 AP 35 Armour Unique Passive: Killing a unit grants 0.5 bonus armor and ability power. This bonus stacks up to 30 times. Active: Celestial Barrier: 90 second cooldown For 3 seconds creates an ethereal barrier around you reducing physical damage taken by 25%.

It is kind of like a Zhonya's for sustain AP's, rather than burst.

I am not sure what kind of numbers it would be looking at for gold, but I wouldn't be surprised if something similar to this idea were added in the upcoming immobile mage update.

Squidblimp3 votes

I do agree that AP champs need better armor itemization.

But... you'd basically make Zed useless very early with the mini Zhonya's. The cooldown would have to rival almost that of a summoner spell to not make Zed useless.

The reason that QSS is allowed is because it is strictly defensive. Armguard, on the other hand, has offensive stats. To make it work, they'd have to remove all of the AP from it and just have it be focused on armor.

Hexdrinker makes almost every burst mage useless early.

DokiDokiTodoroki1 votes

Not useless, you just can't be Lux and expect your full combo to kill a Zed from 800 units away. You have to actually hit a couple spells. Maybe even auto attack. Whereas Zhonya's active negates an entire ultimate. I can assure you that if you pop hexdrinker with Lux ult, that champion is either completely dead or less than 200 health, which is an autoattack and an e away from death. The damage still exists, as well as any cc that comes from it. Completely negating an ult with tier 2 item for 1200 gold? ridiculous.

Squidblimp1 votes

No, the difference is that you can poke them until the shield gets popped, because it's a passive, not an active. You can't hold onto hexdrinker shield. However, you can hold onto zhonyas stasis and just save it for his ult

Supreme Senpai693 votes

It could have an active that's a shield and it would be cool. Invincibility, even for a second, can be very annoying.

(Looking at you, Fizz)

Sniperkaj2 votes

What about giving it a shield active? Or an active that increases armor by a large amount for 2.5 seconds (and for effect, you would glow golden or something) Increase the price by 350-500 gold aswell

Zhonyas wouldnt have a stupidly high combine cost

You would truly sacrifice offensive capabilites

Still weak to CC and sustained damage

But a counter to a snowball assassin (atleast to snowball off you)

ZzEslIolZQ2 votes

So basically you wanna give AP assassin the ability to completely ignore a mages cooldowns. Good idea. Should work for Riot.

originary911 votes

This is a stupid idea. Would be broken, lowering the Stasis cool down actually makes it STRONGER, not weaker. But of course you didn't consider that, because if you had you wouldn't have posted this thread. Same goes to the 35+ people who upvoted this shit, but then again Boards is always and will always be a joke when it comes to 'balancing ideas'. Or maybe you did realise but as with all Mage mains decided that the game should be changed to give u free winz.

Dr Birdie2 votes

OP suggested it at an increased CD though...

Sorry, my mistake, I meant Stasis duration*, though you probably could have inferred that from the rest of what I said.

Hello I am Bird1 votes

Only when Seekers gets fully stacked though...

I really don't want champs to get nerfed because of this item :v

Weathered1 votes

Maybe like 0.5 seconds so its really hard to time. We don't want people abusing it by just getting seekers and moving on :P

XIII Vanitas1 votes

LOL nope. Zhonya costs so much because its active makes it really powerful. Giving the same active to one of its component would break the game. Btw, item 3191 is more similar to item 3052.

Chatillon1 votes

ADC would build this, so would tops to reset tower after dives i would think. It sounds good in theory but in practice...

Synx71 votes

/lol

Just make it remove any debuffs, like Zed's mark etc.

Miraweave1 votes

A lower stasis duration would arguably be more useful though.

At 2.5 seconds, activating it puts you out of a fight briefly. If it lasted 0.5 seconds instead, for example, it would be a more generally powerful item since you could pop it to dodge things without messing your combat up much.

Mecha MaIphite1 votes

That sounds broken. I could even buy it against a Veigar or another AP because it would nullify the biggest part of their burst.

NostolgicSkies1 votes

did everyone forget champs scale armour with lvls naturally and only a few select gain MR per lvl. this is why MR is easier to get then armor. not to mention with MR being easier to obtain you are more easily open to runeing armour as well. besides i was under the impression that health was a more viable defensive stat then armor in this season.

Spizzle90001 votes

The reason is because most who build Zhonya's are mid laners, and there aren't really any ranged AD mids commonly used, whereas most AP champions in mid lane are ranged and don't need to get close to do tons of damage. At least, that's how I see it.

The Rewritten1 votes

It can't be a stasis. Stasis on a low-tier item would be way, way too strong.
If you want an anti-AD active, it would have to be a damage reduction, not negation.

I suggest something like this:
Seeker's Armguard

Active - Impact Brace: Become immobile for the next 1 second. During this time, you take 10% reduced incoming damage, gradually increasing to 50% over the duration. (120 second cooldown)

This would grant 45-50% damage reduction against a single burst if you can time it right. The initial 10% damage reduction is so that you can't use it to twitch-finger block abilities for high damage reduction, but would still provide SOME benefit if you choose to use it like so. Most players will choose to play it safe and have the burst land somewhere in the middle, so perhaps this item will provide about 30% damage reduction on average. Still, that's the difference between life and death sometimes.

The immobility is so that it is comparable to Zhonya's. You shouldn't be able to move and then not be able to move once you upgrade it. That makes no sense.
The active effect could easily be bumped up to 2.5 seconds as well. I can still see that working.

rtbf2232199601 votes

One problem with that is that it offers no extra stats after stasis, so you're just delaying your death for another second, while AD mids can do stuff while they have the extra shield or something.

Hahahahyena1 votes

a mini zhonyas might be a littlllle toooo op just a tad, but it would probably be more balanced if it was like a damage reduction by like 90% or lower or something, yaknow, just something so like not EVERYONE builds it, abuses it, then sells it
