Maw/Sterak's Kalista needs to be addressed

Toastey··9 votes·1,251 views

A Kalista with item 3153 item 3085 item 3156 item 3053 has safety against burst, lifesteal against DPS, good AoE damage (Hurricane), good damage vs squishies (from Maw flat armour pen), and good damage vs tanks (BotRK).

Add this to her overloaded kit: unparalleled mobility, decent poke, free walking wards, objective secures/conditional burst, absolute safety for your support and/or a disgusting AoE knockup.

She IS a utility AOE ADC that focuses around kiting enemies, in fact, she is rewarded for prolonged kiting with a large burst of damage with Rend

That's fine, but it becomes a problem when she gets full safety from burst damage through Maw/Sterak's. The item combo covers her weaknesses too disgustingly well.

You literally can do that on EVERY SINGLE Marksman and get the same, if not better results.

Vayne

Vayne has nowhere near the same utility as Kalista in a competitive setting. Free walking wards? Guaranteed objective control? Safety for your support? Another Malphite ultimate? Vayne doesn't synergise with Hurricane either, where as Kalista builds up a huge amount of conditional burst over teamfights using the item. If every ADC could match Kalista in every department by just copying that 4-item core build, then Kalista wouldn't see priority.

Did I say the same items? You were speaking on Maw/Steraks and those are the items that I'm speaking on.

Listing a bunch of attributes, makes a champion look broken, but when you put it into perspective it doesnt.

???

The reason BotRK / Hurricane / Maw / Sterak's Kalista is so broken is because it brings all of Kalista's utility, while simultaneously giving her absolute safety and also catering to the stats she wants. It's a Kalista-specific synergy, and it covers her weaknesses too well while also augmenting her strengths too perfectly. Do you understand the problem?

I mean sure, you can build Maw/Sterak's on, say, Caitlyn, but you won't be doing the same AoE, you won't have Rend to fall back on, you won't have a way to pull out your support, you won't have a fat AoE knockup, you won't have any of the things that Kalista has. You can build Maw/Sterak's on Vayne, and sure maybe you could carry teamfights, but you wouldn't have the things Kalista has, and the items wouldn't play as well to the stats Vayne wants.

I don't really care about Kalista's power level, all I know is that just like Akali, I hate her SO much always. No matter what because when she's successful there's NO champ more annoying

I remember when I saw her getting pentas every game when I was level 10-15 and saying to myself: "cancer."

Haven't seen a successful Kalista since season 6 started. I doubt I have even seen one in season 6.

you must not watch competitive mate :>

I don't watch competitive play (LCS) and I am not referring to it because I don't play in the LCS or any competitive scene.

your anecdotal solo queue experience must be so much more valuable than the hundreds of competitive games played each year. riot should really balance the game around what solo queue players like you experience, and not the highest level of play. :>

Did I say anything about the state of her balance?

All I did was listed her attributes and the frequency at which I have seen her during Season 6. I also stated that champions can build similar items and do better.

I never said that Riot should balance around my "anecdotal solo queue experience" nor did I claim that they were more / less valuable than competitive games, although, anyone could make a claim for either view.

I have no idea what percentage of competitive scene games are used in Riot's Balance Teams' choices.

I'm unsure of where you're pulling your shitty responses from.

I like how when champions have on hit effects from their spells that kalista's and Kayle's seem to be the only ones that also proc trhrough their item 3085 bolts great consistancy riot

Her being detached from crit builds causes this balance issue. She can pick up so much utility/defense from other items because her core build power is absurd.

She surged right back on top the meta thanks to Fervor of Battle buffs. Her being the fastest hit rate adc earliest would do that. Not that she's ever not been a great pick yet. But we're back to Kalista domination. Again. Yaayyyyy...

Her build path truly is the problem. Opting oughta the normal adc curve on top such a disgusting kit is completely broken.

I'm glad crit scaling is more enticing to her through runaan's 30% crit to start with. But nothing was done to smother out her incredible on-hit dps. So she has a new option.

She doesn't fall off as hard as before since fervor of battle has been added. Weaknesses voided.
