What I don't like about the "Fighter" Class

I know this is not going to be a popular opinion.

I've always appreciated how League tends to have fairly good trades for what champions in set roles do. ADCs, APCs (Mid Mages) and Assassins are glass cannons. They rely on execution, positioning and raw damage to kill their target before they get killed by the enemy team.

Pure tanks aren't damage dealers. Maybe they are, but it's usually slow damage over time, and you won't see them soloing a carry in equal circumstances. They operate as front liners. They soak up damage for their team, initiate fights and can be great zoning at times.

And then there's what I've heard people call the fighter class. These are champions that get the best of both worlds. They don't need to build full tank to be front liners, nor do they need to build full damage to destroy carries with a quick combo.

You can have a character of this class on over 4K HP http://i.imgur.com/5ZWp6Ul.png

Several times I've read people here say "Those aren't really tanks" and while they aren't your 5.5K HP Rammus, they aren't your 1.8K assassin either, yet... http://i.imgur.com/1uIEIJg.png

They are able to output sometimes as much damage as an assassin on single abilities.

Going back to the title of the topic: I just don't like this. To me, I fail to see how having the best of both worlds on such efficient builds is just fine. I actually don't think Lee is an unbalanced champion right now, but the numbers some of these fighters can output on just two items as AD sources just feels weird to me.

Like I said, I know this is gonna be an unpopular opinion.

Still, have a nice day and enjoy the game.

I think I remember reading that fighters tend to break the game.

Now while I don't agree with that, their diversity has led to a lot of issues (like making the "fighter" term hold little meaning at some point). I think Stonewall once said "Why play a tank when you can do the same job as a tanky bruiser?" When it came to jungle diversity.

Personally I do not like the Lee Sin in your example. He has a massive amount of health and still enough damage to burst squishy champions. That's honestly stupid with the amount of mobility he has (tank Ekko had a similar problem. He was so mobile and durable that it felt impossible to dent him).

I'm still of the belief that we need to cut damage down in the game. Leave it so assassins and mages have the best burst (and make sure they have their respective weaknesses because they are burst classes), find someway to make crit less bursty so marksmen can be tuned more towards being better at taking objectives, make tanks tanky and give fighters a middle ground.

Though even then we'd have the same problems with fighters (IMO) just with smaller numbers.

You have the misconception that damage and tankiness is all that matters in this game.

If it was, every team would look like Darius top, Zac jungle, Illaoi mid, Jinx/Brand bot. But it doesn't. Pro teams, in fact, almost never use fighters. Ever think about why that is?

There's more to it than just Damage and Defense. There are also things like Mobility, Utility, Crowd controll, range, etc. Example: Vlad is a tanky mage. He deals damage and he's hard to kill. But he's short ranged, doesn't have any hard crowd controll and doesn't really provide anything other than damage and a meatwall.

Riven, Lee Sin, Yasuo etc are just overloaded. Also, a fighter can be tanky, but they'll never be as tanky as a pure tank. Fighters can deal damage, but they'll never reach the damage potential of an ADC.

Fighters aren't really the best of both worlds. The lack raw damage, and lack true tank stats. You can do some damage, and take some damage, but you're nowhere near as tanky as a tank, and you won't be 2-shotting anyone.

Don't see how fighters get the "best of both worlds" when they get neither range or mobility most of the time. Mobas revolve around mobility and range. Damage and defense are a distant consideration after range and mobility.
