As a midlaner, I feel very inconsistant carrying this season.

Yes, this is pretty much a rant post. I was playing on my smurf account, pretty much crumping my opposite laner as malzahar with 65% winrate with 58% winrate in ranked and now im on 53% winrate with a humongous loss streak that i dropped from silver 1 to 4.

I made a recap on what made me win and lose, and when I looked at the objectives taken at the game i realised that it pretty much depends on that darn bot tower. If that tower falls, that fed adc and support will be sieging my lane and since the support will roam and ward the river, intervention to botlane is extremely hard. im assuming in the past matches, i "luckily" naturally did it, but then gone back to season 6 style and got owned. It seems like focusing on how much i blast my opposing laner is much less relavant than last season, and i need to roam like mad before that tower falls.

Since I have this playstyle of assuring dominance upon my laner then roaming, is there a way to fulfill this safely in this season?

Yes and no.

As a mid laner, I do not roam. I stay put in my lane and push the ever important mid lane (Because it allows for map dominance). When the bot lane falls, all you can hope for is that you can last the next 3 minutes. I usually tell my bot laners to readdress bot lane and take pressure away from mid. Until then, unless there is a Bard, I stay under my turret and use my wave clear to stall for time. That depends on your champ-- the 'yes' factor. I do not know how well Mal's wave clear is but if you can't clear the back line wave with one ability, within 2.5 seconds (arbitrary number), or have decent size aoe to stall (Like Lux's e and leaving it open), then you are screwed when the next wave comes under.

I do not recommend you roam at all. Stay in mid and push that lane. I just recommend for you to be weary and pay attention to bot tower from time to time. And hate, though do not show that in chat, when you see that they are fed.

Here is a video that discussed the topic after bot/top lane is taken. Its viewpoint is more of what the bot/top laner should do not as much what the mid laner should do BUT it gives you information on what the enemy may do, and knowledge is power in this game.

15 minutes long by ScrapComputer, a reliable LoL YouTuber who gives tons of accurate info about the game with tactics like this. Check him out? What you should pay attention most certainly to 5:30 minutes section. This is more regards to this situation. Again, this is the bot/top lane perspective and not mid but knowing it, you know what to do.

Welcome. This is why I prefer champs with wave clear in the mid lane... clear hoards of minions in one ability. I have been in games where I told my bot laners to go back to bot and the results were one of to things: 1) They got the bot tower, my mid still stands. 2) the enemy marksmen and support left to address their bot lane. Warned them that they were coming and got back to a 1v1 with my laner.

ScrapComputer is a great source of info an if you ever feel like that a reoccuring theme of split pushers keeps getting you, then watch a video of his to see how it goes. Just note that the perspective may not be in your position, but like in this video, it gives you knowledge about it.

Also, as a fellow mid laner, allow me to give you another video from him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWlqOjeW5DU This is more about complaints that mid laners have to deal with, like roaming. He addresses this, and speaks it in a logical manner. Reliable and analytical.

Hope your next game goes well.
