Lux is a beast
I decided to give her a shot and holy crap is she a monster! I'm honestly surprised she isn't played more not including the last few weeks with that overpriced skin.

It's because she's 100% skillshot reliant. A Lux that can't hit skillshots consistently is practically useless. A Lux that can hit all of her skillshots is insanely powerful.
She is definitely one of my favs, though.

her e (which she should max first) is very easy to land
also nowadays nearly all the mages are skillshot reliant
lux is pretty simple to play
her main problem is the lack of cc
lack of cc? i know she has a snare and a slow
lack of cc? i know she has a snare and a slow
a rather weak snare and situational slow, yes
but a lot of mages have some form of stun, knock back, suppression, taunt etc
compare lux with morgana, morgana has a much longer root and aoe stun, lux has a weak root (which is easier to land though and sometimes it can root two enemies), a very limited slow and that's all
or compare her with ahri, ahri has a taunt which is a form of stun, with syndra - knock back with possible stun, and also slow, with viktor - slow and stun, with malzahar - silence and suppression etc
lux has one of the weakest cc among mages
They stopped playing her when zed became popular, not many have picked her back up yet.
She is abused at low Elo. Way too broken and easy to play.
Lux has trouble versus mobile targets because she is 100% skill shot reliant. She also has a bit of Kogmaw syndrome where she blows up once you get on her.
Dodge her Q and you are pretty much golden. Get hit by it and you are pretty much fucked.
..unless they have QSS.
shes highly dependant on getting ahead shes really bad from playing behind
Not really. As long as you can hit skillshots, you can get destroyed in the early game and still be relevant (more relevant than most other midlaners that lost their lane). This is because of the fact she does good base dmg, has a good CC ability, has a shield that can be used in an AOE on your teammates, has low cooldowns, and is long ranged.
I remember back in Season 2 when she was played more often as a support than a mid laner.
Lux is a sexy beast
FIFY.
But seriously, she is pretty strong. IF you land your skillshots.
If you ever want to practice skillshots or if you ever want to know if you're good at landing skillshots...
Play Lux.
They say all of Ez's moves are skill shots, except his E Arcane Shift fires a homing bolt Every one of Lux's abilities are skill shot.
Shhh don't tell anyone. That damn skin already made impossible to play her if not first pick..
AD is more popular than AP right now, and Lux can be a bit aggravating for a newer player to learn when so many champs are out there who can blink past her range advantage to eat her face off. Plus, she needs to throw her range advantage away entirely to fully maximize her damage thanks to her auto-attack passive.

a point blank snare into full combo
she runs barrier so is not that easily burstable, has a double shield too
pretty much killed her off since she couldn't compete with their resourceless-ness. Then the meta favored tanks for a while. I remember giving her up when almost every match was one of those guys and I couldn't keep up.
On top of that
and
required you being ready with your snares as they could easily just burst you down. I've been picking her up again, but now people just either 3 man me, camp mid, or play
into me.
She's not the best pick if the enemy has 2 bruisers/tanks or if you basically won't be able to hit anything reliably because of their mobility.
its a good patch for the crownguards.
I see Lux almost every game, especially during rotating queue. She even gets banned pretty often.
