Stop telling me who to play!

SGT Dingle Berry··26 votes·1,465 views

Be thankful I'm not an autofill support. When I say no to your request it's not that I'm a dick, it's that I have little to no experience with that champ and average 1/3/22 on the ones I do play.

"But SGT they have a tanky team!"

Yup, and mid and top decided to go assassin yet I said nothing. While a specific champ may be better for a particular team comp it only makes sense to play the champs you KNOW how to play. A specific champ may be a hard counter but if you've never played him before you can still get pooped on easily.

Agreed, I've just never realized how many people attempt to tell others what champ to play until I started playing support again. Honestly 1 in 3 games someone asks me to play X champion. Having fun is the entire reason I don't even practice specific supp champions like Alistar or Braum, I find both so mind numbingly boring especially during lane.

well majority of the player base think this game is all about elo and rank and if you arent about trying to prove how good you are and only play meta champs etc you are toxic to the game and its not bout that.

just remember the actual point of the game is to have fun and enjoy it.

here is a though about rank...

rank isnt something to be ashamed of. i feel rank is just a way for riot to put players of similar skill levels vs each other so they can have fair games and enjoy and have fun playing the game... hear me out...

you are bronze.. what if every game you matched vs plats and diamonds? and you get stomped up and down the map and the game is no fun to you.. are you likely to keep playing if that is what happens every time?

on the other hand if your plat/diamond whatever "high" elo if you playing vs people lower skill level then you is that fun not every being challenged? it would be like if you were to go play a game co op vs bots or a custom game vs bots and the difficult is set on easy?

how fun is that?

so in theory rank is there to put us vs people we have a chance to win against while being challenged so the game is fun and rewarding at the same time and keeps you playing..

Except it's totally inaccurate I get placed against plats and golds all the time and I'm bronze lol.

But my trusty friend Teemo helps me tilt and sometimes win against them.

Happens to me literally every game.

I'm not telling you who to play.

I'm just stating that you must buy Shen, main him, and buy a skin for him.

That's not so unreasonable, is it?

And yeah lemme tell ya support can get so tanky on about half the gold the rest of the team has to work with.

LOL

KaRniVooL132 votes

they cant... but that is why riot gives support items that would seem broken and op if they are used out side the role at a lower cost its never a good idea that the sole tank on your team is the support...

even alistar cant pull that off any more

a tanky support with engage helps but you still need some other tankish champ via top or jungle and allow your mid and adc to carry

BlueBilberry3 votes

Welcome to the world of support. :)

I love it when the team on the other side is either ADC or tanky. Then in lower tiers, you always get a couple of bright sparks who tells the Support player to play X or Y. In the meantime, the rest of the team has either hovered or selected some of the squishiest champions expecting the support to be the one and only tank to carry them.

"Support go tank"

  • First pick jungle hovers Twitch intent "Yeah we need a tank"
  • third pick top intents on Kennen

"<_< Yeah you two can go eat a dick". lol

I've honestly never got this request neither in Ranked or Normal. I cant playing anything other as Blitzcrank anyway

Hello I am Bird1 votes

Everyone is ok with blitz, thats why

He can be a mage or tank, and his hook sound nice to your marksmen

Haha, okay, so I was queueing with my friend who got me into the game. (I was level 8~ at the time or something, he was Silver.)

My friend calls mid, I call support. I hover Morgana since she's free and I liked Mage Supports at the time. (Previously, I had played Lux, Soraka, Lulu, Sona, and Nami.) The bottom laner says, "no, I hate Morgana," followed with "go Braum" (who also happens to be free). "I don't know how to play Braum," I reply. "its ok, braum is easy." In the voice call, Nathan is like, "Jeff, you don't need to go Braum, you can be Morgana." "But he wants me to be this champion! What if he's angry in-game?" "He'll be even more angry if you don't play well. Show him how good your Morgana is Jeff." "I... uhh..." I vacillate between the two options and eventually choose Braum. I get a crash course on how the Relic Shield works from my friend, and proceed to do terribly. "sorry for doing bad" "nah ur fine," my marksman replies in chat. I think he's just being nice. We get some kills somehow, and he's like "this is why braum is so good" and I'm like, "okay" but in my mind I'm thinking that I didn't do anything and that it was all my marksman who secured the kills for us. As the game ends in victory for us, I apologize to my friend for my poor gameplay. "I don't like this champion." "Nah Jeff, you did great." He's trying to soften the blow of my poor score too?

When I remember the match, I always remember doing poorly. However, match history tells a different story: http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1833101627/227894082?tab=overview

I honestly had no idea that I was doing so well, which lead me to create the false memory of doing terribly. I didn't understand good scores at all.

My story doesn't really help your point SGT Dingle Berry, I just thought I'd share because it's a funny match from my new player days.

TeCoolMage2 votes

Braum does a lot for very little skill, but with a lot of skill that power is mostly invisible

He's not brain dead easy, I think he's a fairly hard support, but you give resistances which you can't see like a Morgana pool, and you have up to 5 delayed stuns at once, with a delay so big it'd look closer to a glitch than something you caused unless it was intentional.

A braum can appear to be a feeder but be the sole cause of a won team fight by autoing 5 people to get your stun up on them then dying, or appear AFK but save your carry by giving them resistances.

Or by Facetanking that Syndra Ult aimed at your ADC. Braum E is pretty awesome.

There is no tanks in the mid lane for a reason you know.

There is no tanks in the mid lane for a reason you know.

We've got a few. Galio and Cho'Gath are tanks, Mordekaiser is a juggernaut, Vladimir and Swain are extremely tanky battle mages.

Xonra1 votes

Galio is suspect at best, and Cho isn't really all that good right now. I'd prefer the Galio.

Morde is not a tank, and only gets/stays tanky if he hits you with all his stuff.

Vlad isn't tanky until he has a few items, and mostly if he actually builds tanky. Swain can be very famine with that feast, and if he falls behind at all, he ain't being tanky till like 40 minutes in.

So I'm pretty new, and with the free rotations recently I wanted to try all the supports. I actually asked my adcs who they'd like me to play, since I was gonna' try them all anyway- figured, might as well pull off some awesome synergy on the way.

BUT! The suggestions are terrible! 90% of Bronze ADCs want to play the game so that it's under their control, so they don't have an idiot-support mess things up for them. They ask for Sona, Soraka or Janna to make their laning phase go better. That's it. They've no thoughts beyond that.

The rest of the team suggestions are 'counters X' or 'is wombo-combo' reasoning which- you won't pull off because you don't know the details anyway and you're not duo-queued. OTZ

If they suggest something- even if you're great at playing their suggestion----- ignore ignore ignore! You're the support player, you're the most used to thinking about what ulity your team needs, and you know who you play best.

This is the critical issue i find on LoL these days, everyone just wants to have the snowball match then a match that is exhilarating because their opponent is making full use of the champion they are playing and they are extremely savy at using a more 'flexible' build then running the one trick build and auto'winning everything(which lets face it, over half the matches your going to see alot of people want to default to meta grab or 'so called EZ mode solo yolo champions), when its only because some hot shot pro leaguers are showing it off in montage videos but they cut out all the 'bad stuff' so it makes them look more fabulous which makes people think this champion is so OP.

Until LoL can hit that impossible magical state of where any champion can be shat on by another champion because the latter built savvy and used their kit better (such as predicting opponent's movements to time Soraka Qs and Es), i can never find a match where no person is salty and everyone is having a good time, regardless of outcome. The same even applies to the 'auto requirement' on summoner 4 on pretty much any champion in the game, where people can't op for something more flexible because the enemy team will always have Flash for its ridiculous advantage it brings even after all the nerfs that hit it

Part of the reason why i op or summoner 6 to have more fun and use that move speed bonus to skillfully weave past a skill shot done by some shat grinning Morgana and then i dunk them with a champion i can feel like im having fun, MasterYi, even when the rest of my team was whining about me needing to go LeeSin, Nocturne , RekSai, eEvelynn, Khazix or Rengar. Which 'surprise!' i don't have'm and don't plan on getting them any time soon because i consider them the same as Overwatch's Reaper, those champs are a bunch of EZ mode yolo team kill lawnmowing edgelords, because its so easy for them to dive a enemy from practially anywhere or evaporate enemies with relative low skill use.

This is also why i like to follow 2 useful rules amongst my list of rules for LoL:

-"Play champions you want to play, if people gripe that your being a troll then show them different by showing how useful you can be with your kit. Though definitely have a little bit of 'sense' when you pick champs you want to play and don't play them in lanes they could never work in even if you have the determination to do so."

-"Be Flexible on your favorite champion pool. Its best to have many favorites so you can alternate between them as necessary, playing the same small champion pool as some one trick pony can be extremely tiresome and boring. Thats why its nice to be flexible and sometimes even have a few out of the box pick ups like MasterYi jungle since most expect map divers and ridiculously tankie and hard CC junglers or B.S. stealth type one shot ones, Yi can pretty much be built many ways to fit alot of niches so you can throw of enemy team comps. The same applies to top lane by using Quinn for a more aggressive top lane that focus on map mobility superiority and she can put quite a few tankie top laners in their place with her disruptive E against channel like abilities and Q to knock them into a blind state."

Lucky, and here I am always asking my team what I should play and they never answer or just say "play what you want to play"

DemoGuide1 votes

So true. Even if i can lane with some champions i'm not playing regularly, i still suck late game, because their playstyle in teamfights is different. So i dont even bother listening to them, and just mute them in game most of the time.
