Can any Rioters honestly tell me why we still have promotion series? Please?

Climbing in league is a negative experience due to promotion series. No other ranked game has these, and of all of them, only RTS games would make sense with it. Even then it would be a long-shot. League definitely does not. Especially when people hold you hostage for being in your promotion series if they find out.

People should rise in divisions naturally when their MMR surpasses a threshold and win a match. Or even lower that threshold a little bit and make them rise once 5 of their last 10 matches are wins (the latest being a win) while above that MMR. Give them a safety net and allow them to get demoted if they lose too many in that division after dropping below a certain MMR. Plenty of other games do this. I see no reason why League couldn't.

Everyone would like ranked more if they didn't have to deal with promotion series. It would make the climbing experience much less stressful, and people wouldn't care where they start nearly as much.

In addition, if you were to change to something like what I mentioned earlier, you could have people actually match based on their division, rather that MMR. The benefit of this is that if people end up with a high MMR, but are a lower division, they end up going against harder opponents, which acts as a gatekeeper, currently. Even if they belong in the division of who they're facing, there are cases where they remain lower simply due to fighting their 'True Elo' opponents and losing more often than if they were facing people who are the same division as them.

If you get rid of placements and create an adaptable ranked environment like this, people will also arrive at where they belong more quickly and more accurately, making everyone happy, and allowing you to adjust the distribution among divisions and tiers to give an accurate representation of where you're at skill-wise.

There's also a potential to make highly ranked match-making better using this system.

Is there a reason something like this isn't done? Am I missing something?

To prove yourself. Trash players sometimes get lucky, If you truly deserve a rank, you will win your promos. Promos are designed to try and make you lose. You are actually expected to lose because the match making system places you against teams that they think will beat you. It's a test of skill to see if you are going to belong where in the division you're applying for. That should be common sense. If you can't understand that I don't know what to tell you.

It doesn't prove anything. Promos are just as luck-based. You're almost always going against opponents that are intended to make you lose. That isn't specific to promos. Most promos people are just hoping they don't get an afk, feeder, or troll. That has almost nothing to do with skill. What you suggest isn't common sense at all. If it were 1v1, maybe, but this is not a 1v1 game.

Can you tell me how what I suggested doesn't test your skill?

You get promoted, you go against better opponents. If you aren't ready, you will get demoted.

Look I'm not going to put anymore effort into replying after this. You sound like you're a true bronze crying about everything going on in the game. "They know I'm in promos SOB SOB CRY CRY, I'M GOING TO LOSE NOW. O gg top is afk. I CAN'T win now.. O gg our adc fed the enemy adc, Must be because I'm in promos. gg rito thanks for ruining my matches.

Luck is about 9% of the game, 90% of the rest of it is MENTAL and 1% is obviously physical. If you can keep yourself from being toxic, hot headed, negative, pessimistic, turning into a rager or anything else to cause you or your teammates to tilt. Promos will be no different to you than a normal ranked match. Half the time I don't even realize I'm in promos. The sooner you stop caring about your rank the better your games will be. I mean obviously be proud of your rank but don't just sit there and repeat to yourself "omg I have to make plat...omg i have to make plat...why o why can't i get out of gold 1...fml you all need to go back to silver you're all trash!" ( mean while mid lane where you were, you didn't roam, you used yourself as a front line instead of letting top lane tank or the jung, you didn't ward enough so you kept getting ganked, you didn't back to base and instead thought 1 farm wave was worth getting more than saving your nexus towers.

Time to realize this is a TEAM game dude and that not everything is everybody else's fault. Stop crying about everything and just deal with it.

lol says the one that puts more time into ranked and is still lower than me.

I'm not arguing for personal reasons. I'm arguing because its a flawed system in general.

I have no problem with climbing. However, you can't deny that a large amount of promotion series have at least 1 leaver, afk, feeder, etc. That immediately makes winning a 4/10 chance if you're not miles behind where you should be. Everyone is usually intended to win below 60% of their games, even when they're ahead of the curve. If you have one game you have no control of, that makes it so you effectively have to win two, but can only lose one. Even if you're on a 60% winrate, which is pretty damn good, that means you have only around 40% chance to be promoted, even though you definitely deserve it with 60% winrate. This wastes a lot of time.

And someone else immediately putting us at an overbearing disadvantage is definitely not my fault. I realize some games are won and lost on me, and that I could have done things better.

I merely mentioned a system that would achieve the same results without arbitrarily gating people for no reason for things outside of their control.

You're the one that sounds like a rager, so I have no idea why you're lecturing me about it.
