Mobile vs immobile champ dmg.

How come mobile champs are allowed to do more dmg than most immobile champs? Why can yasuo both out dmg and block and shield dmg from an annie? Why can Camille jump around the map and deal more true dmg to a target than darius with full stacked ult?why is this allowed design wise?

Because Riot has statistics that say mobile champions are more fun than immobile champions, so keeping those champions more powerful will keep players playing them and having more fun while playing the game.

Riot knows exactly what they're doing, even if they won't admit it.

GigglesO19 votes

Look at the era of Lee Sin where he did too much damage for his durability and mobility. It’s exactly the same thing. Popular champs get more attention which keeps them popular.

Nah. But Zed surely is nothing compared to LeBlanc, mostly due to her insane early game damage that Zed doesn't have ( not as strong as her early game is, that is ) and Luden Echo being so much better than any first item that Zed buys

Melledoneus31 votes

They're both stupid and incredibly unfun to play against.

SweedishGunner14 votes

I'm still amazed she got reverted.

IDEMO NA MUDA1 votes

Zed is not that big of a deal. Yeah, "he's broken". Right. He doesn't have nearly the same amount of damage as LB does while needing to hit 2 skillshots preferably without hiting anything before where LB doesn't have any skillshots and can delete you with QW in any situation.

Melledoneus12 votes

Zed's ult-E-auto can deal enough damage to kill most squishies once he gets duskblade and youmuu's. He doesn't need to land a single shuriken because he already has more than enough damage from alternate sources (electrocute, cut down, etc) to do the work for him.

Leblanc has always been stupid. Her rework was much better but her mains missed being able to play her without using a reasonable amount of brain capacity and select meta ADCs were out-bursting her prior to the crit rework so she got reverted back to the uninteractive ball of burst she is now.

IDEMO NA MUDA1 votes

Zed theoretically can do that, but if that adc has any brain function, he'll be with his support forcing Zed to throw Q that you can, i repeat, dodge..

Melledoneus9 votes

I'm not going to argue theoretical scenarios here. Every game is different, and every outcome is different.

All I am saying is Zed and other assassins have access to too many sources of damage that are not what was supposed to be their main abilities.

Zed used to have to pull off some sick multi-shurikens to land that kill. Leblanc had to use more than 2 abilities (Until the 700 AP mark). Fizz had to actually follow up on his ult. Talon relied on actually dodging abilities with his blink, and his W was a bigger damage source (though he was still a bit too strong he wasn't 100-0ing at level 2). Kha'Zix didn't make people disappear unless they were stupid enough to wander into his jungle if he was fed. And Rengar is back to his old one-shotting self.

Assassins on average have grown more uninteractive, more volatile, and they avalanche rather than snowball. They take agency out of the game without much effort because only they can utilize tools that Riot keeps buffing every few patches.

Can't find it anymore, but it was in s4 I believe. They nerfed his mushrooms because he was played in pro-play because apparently "it was too oppressive on the map" when everyone can buy item 3364. But I'm 100% sure it's just because they didn't want him to be used in pro-play anymore because he didn't have shiny mechanics.

So we went from "they admited this" to "I'm sure they did this".

Lets be honest Teemo's mushroom is too powerful in the hands of the right team. So unless he is outright trash he will be doing amazing. He gives more vision and more map control than 3 people on other team can manage to provide. And since Rito waging full blown war on vision they cant have something like that on the rift.

Basically balancing a champion by keeping him trash for years. Meanwhile Zed Yasuo Talon Kaisa item 3147 item 3812 are still broken beyond beliefs

BiasZebra3 votes

To be fair, Yasuo has a pretty bad start, and if he can't snowball, he falls behind. Assassins as a whole are in a tough spot currently. Very much high risk high reward. A item 3157 can completely destroy Zed . Kaisa is broken. item 3147 is pretty strong, but not broken. I never found item 3812 to be broken. It's good, but not that good. As for Talon , I never found him to be that good. He falls behind too easily.

Vêrtigo14 votes

That`s not true at all. Zed IS broken, end. 3 patches straight buffs + Tabi nerfs + duskblade stuff. Talon is the most broken mid atm, no doubt. Zhonya is a useless item, i dont see why people hate it so much. Us mage mains also want some AD shield ( hexdrinker exists for AP countering).

The dash from protobelt is rarely enough for an engage. Mages are using it for the extra burst it gives, not the mobility part

Jamaree17 votes

It isn't just that simple, and when champions have something, they tend to lose other things. Damage is relative, and it all depends on who is more ahead, a fed Annie is going to one shot a Yasou outright, period, no discussion there, but a fed Yasou is going to dash around the battlefield doing whatever he pleases. Annie doesn't get mobility but instead gets consistent hard CC that she doesn't have to aim and thus, far more team utility.

Also no, Camille is NEVER going to do more true damage then a Darius, maybe if the game is over quickly because she gets hers at lvl 1 to his level 6, but in no world in the long run is a Camille going to out true damage a Darius.

Zed genius15 votes

Mobile champs that actually deal damage(not including supports and tanks) don't have much utility. If you take a look at damage dealers with mobility:Zed has a shitty slow, Katarina has nothing,Talon has a shitty slow, Yasuo has a knock up , Rengar has a root that he needs to sacrifice damage in order to use it or a slow, kha'zix has a slow only if he evolves his w,Graves has no cc, Akali has a slow in her w that is barely even usable,Diana has a small knock up etc. If you take a look at purely immobile champs:Lux has a bit of a slow, a root and a shield, syndra has a stun and a slow,Cassiopeia has a slow, a root and a stun,TF has a point and click stun with an ult that gives vision, veigar has a stun which is also a zoning tool, Orianna has a shield, a slow and a knockup(or w/e the hell shockwave counts as),Fiddle has a fear and a silence and so it goes on. There are a few exceptions, like ekko and irelia who are mobile, do a lot of damage and also have cc, but those are just awful designs. And after all, most of the time the damage output of both categories is the same, unless someone gets fed. You may think that zed does more damage than per say orianna, but zed does his one rotation in a teamfight and then does nothing for the rest of it, while orianna has a 1.5 second cd q that she can spam during the fight as well as her other abilities. Idk why I even bother explaining this, boards don't like the use of logical arguments anyway but why not

yikes, completely forgot about that lol

LeftyRaydy2 votes

Ekko is not Bad design, his stun isnt exactly the easiest to plan out. As an Ekko main I can tell you think Enganging a fight you can throw your W out there and hope for the best or where you think the fight will be, but you never now how the enemy team is going to move and react. also I love how he gets a shield, but the shield and the stun are the same length so like what is the point of that?

Zed genius4 votes

Has ekko ever been balanced? No. He is either extremely overpowered or useless, which means bad design

LeftyRaydy3 votes

https://www.leagueofgraphs.com/champions/stats/ekko

Ekko has a 50.9% win rate averaging 7.7 / 6.1 / 6.4 KDA.

So tell me how he is overpowered or useless?

Ionian Vulpix13 votes

Yasuo? No utility? Even though it's not traditional CC, he has Wind Wall to block anything ranged, he has an AoE knockup and a knockup extension. That's part of the reason he's so hated. He has all that damage, all that mobility, and a lot of utility

Kelg10 votes

Mordekaiser least mobile champ, still out bruisered by Jax Camille Irelia Tryndamere Fiora and later on by Yasuo who he's supposed to counter

Yeah, maybe, but Annie at least has a stun that can help her close in or escape. [sg-lulu]

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

And Mordekaiser almost ALWAYS opts into a basically permanent 20% slow. Annie does next to nothing without Predator or Flash up. Morde at least can do something and has a situational movement speed boost and a snare to keep up. He also just doesn't outright die to people getting on top of him like Annie.

Raid Boss Morde3 votes

Mordekaiser doesn't have a snare, he has no CC. He opts into a permanent 20% slow because he has no CC. If Annie didn't have CC, she would also build Rylai's.

Morde dies outright to a lot of champions that jump on him this meta and to anyone who doesn't jump on him (screw range)

But why can Annie stun and oneshot a whole team and why can Darius reset his 800 damage ult and heal a third of his HP every 4 seconds heh

Naymliss13 votes

Because Annie and Darius are mega fed, and Darius must have gotten a huge q buff that increased his healing immensely. Thats my guess at the scenario you gave.

Chembaron Yamada4 votes

Darius can heal up to 36% missing health with a single cast of his Q, so if he is low, healing 1/3 of his health is actually possible.

But why can Annie stun and oneshot a whole team and why can Darius reset his 800 damage ult and heal a third of his HP every 4 seconds heh

Because as I said, Annie relies on summoner 4 and if you can't kite a Darius you just suck balls

Ok but then why are Morgana, Swain, Taliyah, Mundo, Tahm, Vlad, Trundle, etc some of the most picked champs in pro play rn? https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/256/183/9d5.png

Because proplay =/= solo queue. Thats why. The have communication beyond what we will ever have in solo q.

But then why is it "LC$" when mobile champs like assassins arent even playable there?

Neptunia xoxo5 votes

I always assumed when I saw Zoe on PBE that CertainlyT and anyone else who worked on the champion would be fired and the champion wouldn't go through without a huge rework to the abilities but nope him and his team are now working on more reworks and champion designs hehehehehehe no seriously if I had the power to fire him I would of and i'd of never let most of these reworks and designs go through.

Solidair33 votes

Because damage and mobility aren't the only two factors in a champion. I always think about it like a triangle of balance. At each corner is one of each: Damage, Mobility, Utility. One could arguable say it's a square with one point being tankiness, but I prefer to lump that in with utility. Champions with high damage and mobility generally have very little utility. Leblanc has a root in her chain, and that is the extent of her utility. Talon has a slow on his W, but is otherwise all damage and mobility. Yasuo has windwall, which is pretty high utility but balanced with a very long cooldown on a champion that doesn't usually want CDR, and is generally pretty squishy. (Say what you will about yasuo, if he gets rooted or stunned late game, he dies fast).

Immobile champions tend to have damage that is inflicted reliably from safety with GREAT utility

You missed the word utility my friend.

The whole point of mobility is to bypass utility much easier, or else what would be the counter play?

Also no need for down votes, I want a friendly discussion.

Lol dude you edited that in. Either way, utility doesn't really matter when the most powerful utility they have is to instakill you and get out free with that mobility, unless that utility is an instant invulnerability or on click roots which not many champions have and even so they're usually on ultimates like Kayle's R. Only real 'utility' I can think of other than that that gets in the way of mobile damage dealers are tanks but that's what tanks are for. Besides, if mobility counters utility (which it does) what the hell is left for the immobiles against the mobile damage dealers?

Thus the point of this thread being that mobile champions constantly outclass literally any immobiles that aren't tanks (and even so the true damage in this game's making tanks irrelevant anyway)
