Actually it's not a terribly bad idea for Riot to do that, because it's not to say they will never nerf fizz, but it's more that they don't want everyone to hate fizz just before they release a cool skin that they spent thousands of dollars on hiring 3d modelers and illustrators.

Yeah, but Fizz has a high playrate, so the loss would be more noticable.

Tristana got nerfed around the same time Dragon Trainer Trist was released, I think. I could be wrong on that.
