Why not give Blitzcrank a heat system similiar to Rumble's?

SaltyToplaneGoat··5 votes·720 views

I mean a steam golem that runs on electiricy while using mana? Talk about weird. There would have to be some changes to his kit tho, but I can see this working. His ult could become a skill called "Steam Discharge" that consumes almost all heat and deals more damage the more heat is consumed...

We gotta have to change how his Q works then, because without mana to gate it it's a little too op early...

If blitzcrank had this think about how imbalanced he would become. Rumble gains an ad buff when overheated. when he is in yellow EVERYTHING does 50% more everything. slows, damage etc. why would we want a support to have this?

that's rumble's passive though, what makes you think that Blitz would have the exact same passive as another champion just because they would use the same resource? that's like saying all manaless champions have the same passive or all energy champion have the same passive

Yeah i didnt necessarily think this comment through haha. Rumble support is crazy overpowered so i dont see why they couldn't try it out on blitzcrank as atleast a test on the PBE.

Why does Blitzcrank HAVE to be a support? Nothing about his theme screams "SUPPORT" - now, compare that to Soraka or Sona. I think he is supposed to be a tank with cc that CAN go support, but it's not the core of what he is supposed to be. I think every support champion should also be able to play good in a solo lane without being toxic. That's how they should be designed (unless you count bard who's a special case)

Well, ofc some parts of his kit would be changed, you cannot simply take the mana away and strap heat on it.

YOur only argument it "he's a support, so he's supposed to be a crappy, boring and uninteresting piece of scrap metal" - I think some support players might want to have a word with you...

That's a good point, and i enjoy playing him solo lane the way he is, but rumble support is crazy overpowered too so your arguement is valid.

Well, he's also a good Runeglaive jungler - item 3724 item 3020 item 3027 item 3040 (core) + tankyness: item 3110 item 3001 or item 3060 .

Rumble support has two weak slows and short ranged poke. Most ADC's poke him down with basic attacks and laugh their ass of how useless he is.

I tried Rumble supp with a tristana ADC and ended 20/13/38 in a 64 minute game. Earlygame i see what you mean but Pure AP Rumble does enough damage to feed the adc and carry.

I like how he works already, considering his relatively low early mana pool and the fact his Q costs 100 mana. It's pretty gated.

I don't think he has resource problems, tbh. Even if it makes thematic sense, there's no reason to change it now.

Well, he has some problems with his current kit tho, mostly the fact that he plays WAY too binary - and as a result of that he becomes a sad one-trick-pony that is pretty much nothing apart from his grab, even though his thematic would have so much potential to make it an awesome and mechanically complex champion.

"Heat management" could be a core aspect of a machine champion, but maybe a tad more complex than rumble is currently by also giving spells that reduce heat.

Actually there is a reason we could try that one out: it could be more awesome than Blitz is recently. That's reason enough for me ^^

I think he would need a full-scale rework in that case.

Take Nautilus and Thresh for example. They do stuff beyond "land hook, engage combo." If they miss their hook, they have options. One's a tank that can support, and the other's a support with assloads of utility.

Well, we don't have to go full-Sion for this one tho... think of something a bit below gangplank level...

IcyPepper1 votes

I think Gangplank level would work.

A lot of his power budget is taken by his Q (since most of his kit revolves around it?), but I'm thinking his E could use some changes. If we removed the knock-up, it would weaken his pre-6 grab, but that could allow taking out some of the mana cost on his Q as compensation. Instead, we could do something like a reverse grab where he drags himself forward, or maybe he grabs/throws his allies, or something silly like that. Or it could be a ranged skillshot punch where it goes through minions as harassment! Or maybe it could be a rocket punch and explode on contact, dealing aoe damage! >:D

Or we simply change how the grab itself works to move some power from there to the rest of his kit. Right now it's an instant displacement and nothing else, but what if he misses a grab he has to "pull back" his hand first? I've seen that idea on the boards some time ago and I think that would work out.

Another idea would be to make the pull less "instant", so you "drag" your target towards you, think of Tresh but more smooth and all the way.

I'm in for completly removing/reworking his W and E tho. If we go with the heat system, W could simply become a passive bonus whenever he's in high heat, no idea what could replace this abilities tho...

His cooldowns are too long to actually interact with the Heat resource.

SaltyToplaneGoat1 votes

Well that's something that can be fixed. Just give him new skills for his W and E and his ultimate cooldown is actually pretty short. Then you got a nice heat champ.
