Why Darius is punished when his enemies are too close to him?

SnowFall··2 votes·839 views

It's the fact that Q's handle doesn't apply Hemorrhage irritates me. It should be his enemies punished for getting this close to Darius, not Darius himself. Add spikes to the handle or something, ffs, and make it apply Hemorrhage too, like the rest of his abilities. The 50% damage reduction on handle Q is fine, but it not applying Hemorrhage is not.

WOw, you are scummy af. Darius deserves more free damage? Wow. [zombie-brand-mindblown]

Ahristocats4 votes

because he needs counterplay, and unlike some champions like morde or shyvana darius as a melee offers counterplay to other melees

which is why he's the best designed juggernaut

Nosnide2 votes

That is his counterplay? Tell me, when you play a melee champion, how often do you actually get to avoid his Q hitting you? It has 425 range and only the center half does 50% dmg. That is within 200 range. Some champions barely even fit in that... Not to mention some don't at all....

Sahn Uzal2 votes

As often as I get to work around my CC, his CC and my mobility, depending on who I'm playing.

Nosnide1 votes

OKay, but what happens when you don't play those HANDFUL of high mobility, high sustain champions with CC? Your a fucking bug, and Darius is a fucking size 12 boot coming your way. Not a fun game at all at that point.

I main Gangplank. I'll orange the slow from his Crippling strike or hook, and walk into him, or I'll proc my passive on him and run into him/run out of it. Or I'll hug a keg, detonate it to slow it so I can run into him, and if he aa's my keg I'll use the time he spends doing that to run away from him.

Most champions have some tools to work with, you just gotta be smart with how you use them.

Nosnide1 votes

Most top laners have these tools? So tell me, why is it that Darius' ban rate has always been in like top 10. If he is so manageable and easy to play around in lane, why do so many people want to ban him all across the board, throughout patches, and even throughout seasons. He remains a top 10 most banned.

BTW there aren't that many melee top laners with these tools you speak of. Not to mention GP does have some poke, contrary of your average melee.

Sahn Uzal2 votes

I don't bother poking Darius as Gangplank, his health regen is too high for it to be worth the risk of getting hooked during the animation :P

And I'm not saying he's not a hard champion to deal with, but people often like to claim there's nothing you can do to avoid his Decimate, when there most certainly are ways to avoid it.

Rengar always has a high banrate, even when he's shit :P He currently has the highest banrate in the game and has a 47-48% Winrate. Banrate doesn't really tell you a lot about a champion's power, it tells you people don't like facing that champion.

Nosnide1 votes

well Darius is top 10 most banned, with an over 50% win rate, and a much higher play rate than Rengar.

Maybe there is a reason he gets banned a lot, a reason why people do not want to lane against him. I bet you Rengar will see changes again, but nothing will change for Darius. The only change Darius ever got was buffs. Huge mother fucking buffs in the juggernaut reworks. And because of this he will always be in that top 10, unlike all the other champions there that change frequently, except maybe Yasuo.

Decimate Blade width reduced to 220 from 270.

Apprehend Slow reduced to 40% from 90%.

Decimate Healing reduced to 12% missing health from 15% of missing health. Maximum healing increased to 36% missing health from 30% of missing health. Cost increased to 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 from 30 at all ranks.

Look I understand you dont like Darius, neither do I. But spreading false information is not gonna make your point seem more valid.

Decimate RANGE: 425 / 220 / 205 COST: 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 mana COOLDOWN: 9 / 8 / 7 / 6 / 5

The range is more than 220. At level 1 at least.

Regardless yes a nerf. But he is still strong AF. Anyway, even if it cant be more imminent that there is something wrong with him when seen in ban rate and how much hate there is for the champion, I guess talking on here would never change anything.

Ahristocats2 votes

are you stupid? every mobile melees can avoid his Q by dashing into him that's better than before the rework

Nosnide1 votes

And if you do not play a "mobile melee"? Or if the Darius is smart enough to know what you will do and easily baits your gap closer etc.? Then you fucked, like the amount of punishment he can do on you for any mistake is insane. Just because it is better than before the rework doesn't mean it is in good standing. I do not play any mobile melee champions In the top lane. And I am sure a lot of other people don't. Darius kind of just forces people to either give up lane, or play something they do not want to play.

BeatzBoyFTW3 votes

Sounds like you need more practice with Darius.

Mecha MaIphite3 votes

God forbid he actually requires skill to get that extra damage.

WoonStruck2 votes

Because he's a brain-dead lane bully that scales well. He's gotta have a weakness somewhere.

Counterplay and overpowered are not mutually exclusive.

Nosnide1 votes

God damn this is so true. I don't even know why people deny it. I swear if we had 5 LCS top main players asked if Darius is OP we would have a majority vote that he is. People on these forums wanna deny the BS, or are Darius mains and don't want him to get nerfed.

Berserknurple1 votes

It rewards the enemy for not running away from Darius. Turning and fighting instead of running like a coward. Just like Tryndamere's chicken shout or Illaoi's E, if you fight them it lessens the effect. If you're playing Darius and they dodged towards you, you just got a free pull or at least an auto for a Bleed stack anyway.

Nosnide1 votes

Of course. Darius isn't designed to lose. He wins either way.

Requiemsfire1 votes

Think of it this way, when Darius is chasing you and you're in Q range, there's literally only two options, let him land his Q giving him a decent heal for a portion of his HP, flat damage and a blood stack on you. If his E is off cooldown then odds are you have to fight him because the chance of you dodging his hook is really really low.
