Not looking forward to the new champ select

I main 4 roles and depending on bans, picks of my teammates and opponont and prefered roles of my teammates I pick a role.

The new champ select really hurts flexibility and opportunity.

  • If I choose to enter as a mid/jungler and I get assigned jungle but my main is taken or banned or i got counterpicked, I can no longer swap to another role because that other guy didn't queue up as top or sup for nothing. He will want to play that role.
  • I don't main roles, I main champs. This means when I see the opportunity to counterpick with one of my mains I no longer can because I am forced into a role.
  • It hurts team synergy because the system is build around individuality rather than a teameffort to make picks.
  • I am a decent midlaner but I only play Malzahar. This means I can't enter as midlaner unless I start playing at least 1-2 other champs in that role.
  • I don't want to be forced before picks and bans what role I have to play. Picks and bans decide for 90% what I am going to pick.
  • New champ select is a fix on something that is not broken. I never play adc and only in 0,5% of my games I am forced to dodge. I almost never start a game with a guys that is unhappy with his role, but that could partially be because I am flexible and main 4 roles.
  • It hurts real MMR. I am not diamond with every champ. If for some reason I can't play my main a I am forced to pick my second or third best champ in that role. Lets say I have a 50 grade with Malzahar but he is not available or gor counterpicked and I have to pick my third mid with a grade of 40. My teammate has a 50 in jungle and a 50 in mid but he got assigned jungle and was higher pick. I also have a 50 in jungle which I could still pick. So forcing me into midlane will hurt teameffort.

  • All you have to do is ask to switch. It's not guaranteed, but you never know.

  • The same goes for this.

  • Malzahar is pretty flexible. He's also not a very popular ban. Either way, take off-meta champs mid. It's not as bad as you may think.

  • Understandable.

  • Except it was broken, in essence. While people have many complaints about it with premades now, a big reason they did this was to get rid of early tension. Those guys that "don't have a support champ" won't be complaining anymore. You may not have started many games with people who didn't get/trolled because of their role, but they were out there and they were a problem.

  • Also understandable.

  • Asking to play a different role than which you entered with defeats the purpose of this new system.
  • This is not about Malzahar but about everyone who mains a champ. Sometimes you know you can't pick him/her. Picking Malzahar into assasin team, multiple adc's or vs poke composition is a garanteed loss.
  • I also got trolled many times by people who say "only jungle" or "mid or feed" and troll pick but in the end 90% of them dodge if you call their bluff because they know they will get banned.

I see what you mean in the first two. The last one is kind of based off a person's own experiences. I've personally always had that problem, but I never had anyone call their bluff often because it was always a different role than what I got/was getting anyways. They had the odd tendency to be pretty high up in the pick order and me dead last.

I personally kind of hate it because everyone else does. That's not saying I jumped on the bandwagon. It just seems that every game I'm in has someone complaining about it, and it's getting old. I understand their complaints, but it's just tiring.

Am I the only one having these issues? It would be nice if someone from Riot could read this because they overlooked all my points.

As a support main, I have very little desire to play any other role. I want to queue as support primary and secondary. Previously, if I said 'supp pref' I got it 99% of the time because no one else ever wants to support. Now if I just happen to get whatever I pick as my secondary, odds are high that the person that actually got support... wants to support.

Basically I don't like how the new system forces you to pick two roles- no more, no less.
