Got ganked by volibear, guess he's getting a double kill...

Not from my lane though. But I hear he can't be stopped.

How does this work exactly? The unstoppable volibear thing..

He is extremely weak against snares and powerful slows. If you don't have one in your kit, though, you're pretty much dead: he's faster than you, he has more health AND more damage than you, and he's basically immune to tower damage.

He's not completely unstoppable... but unless you have a kit that's good at kiting, he is extremely frustrating to play against.

He builds pure tank regains 35 % once he drops below 35% and has an ability that scales off your missing health and his max health. Combined with a 30% ms buff with knockup and a slow. You do the math.

35% hp instantly or overtime? If overtime what period of time?

Overtime. I don't have the exact numbers but imagine a Mundo Ult. It's usually fast enough to make it not worth chasing him down because it wont work

sure it is if the objective is simply to see what the answer is. But unlike your oversimplified solution not only have I figured out roughly what the duration is I've also learned that a lot of the people upset about voli's heal don't even know how fast or strong it actually is which is many times more important to the conversation at hand

Slythion1 votes

I mean like, I don't hate Voli. He's a pain in the arse to deal with but most of my champions do fairly well against him, I was just giving you an outline on what to expect considering how you presented yourself as someone who knows nothing of Volibear.

If your intent of this post was to be able to call people out for not helping you enough or simply "haha you don't know exact numbers about what you're complaining about" then hey, that's your bad motives and I wont get caught up in it. Next time just say a quick "thx" or better yet, just ignore it if it didn't meet your standards.

It's always hard to make these arguments in a vacuum, but generally Mortal Reminder sucks compared to Lord Dominik's. Lord Dom's will help you chew through his massive defense to even trigger is passive. Compared to Mortal reminder only being a reduction to his healing, Lord Dominik's will always give you superior performance.

Are you trying to say that Voli is on the scale of being even slightly over powered? Because I think he pays the price with, you know, being completely countered by like 90% of every mid/top/sup just because he relies on just walking right up to lane and pressing Q for a little bit of a move speed boost. I like the bear but honestly, he has MAJOR problems.

The bear has a good clear, strong dueling and devastateing ganks/counterganks vs immobile targets, but iif you don't feed him early, he falls of rather quickly beeing easily kited in teamfights with no really relevant damage vs other tanks and little utillity.

What's up with that? Everyone hates on Mord, and flames me for playing him. People say they come to my lane for "free kills", but they always send 3-4 people to my lane in a super gank.

And the lack of cc is okay, I run ghost and flash. Also, Mord has nice sustain with w and ult. Don't forget that heal against jungle monsters is still super high. You just go and heal off em, or poke with deactivate w.

But 4 in my lane? Woah yo, it's been common the past week.

because mordes chances of a viable counter attack without strong cc or particularly insane burst earlygame, especially if you go AP, are very VERY low.

Yes, morde can survive 1 or 2 people but he is very unlikely to do anything about 3-4 people let alone escape them if they catch him under tower. For this reason morde is I kindof easy target especially if for any reason he isn't able to stack his shield very well like for example if he is getting camped by the jungler.

Additionally his lack of utility makes him a great target to set behind since he will struggle to catch up ever again.

On top of this morde tends to just shove his lane into oblivion for various reasons so he's pretty easy to gank.

The best part of all though, is that most morde players are cocky people who say "well I could 1v1 my opposing laner so I'm perfectly fine" and "HA it took 4 of you to kill me so its not my fault" which only makes strategizing against them that much easier.

I still don't get it. ..I mean, I suppose that's true for those who think Mord is a rank, and only use that.

But remember, I play an odd Mordekiaser. I focus mobility on him. I will use ghost and flash, as I feel I can do more with a bunch of mobility than ignite, and tend to pick up Ludens and Duskblade after Rylias.

When facing multiple opponents in team fights, I'll poke with e and THE DEACTIVATION ON W (master the deactivate, it is worth it), take advantage of engages, and when multiple enemies are low, flip ghost, do running Q's, shield, heals, and typically get an easy triple or quadrakill. I've even gotten Penta kills with this playstyle.

Also, you don't HAVE to shove lane, just practice your last hitting minions early with just normal AAs only.

Honestly, I think the only thing wrong with Mord is his Movespeed, since yes, he has no cc, bad AS, low base health, no dash, and no range aside from e.

Just a tiny MS buff is allllllllllllll Mord needs

On another note, it wasn't voli himself that was the issue, it was that almost his whole team focused my lane, and their team was highhhhhh on cc, so my ghost and flash combo didn't work there.

a few issues here

  1. what happens if they can counter your mobility which is exceedingly easy

  2. when you just farm with last hitting only it defeats the purpose of picking mordekaiser in the first place really. mord is not and has never been a tank. he's an AP fighter that shoves lanes and goes to frolic elsewhere. He's an easy target and if he gets crippled he becomes a weight on his team's back.

So they send 4 after him. 1 gets the kill gold and the rest get assist gold so you actually feed them EVEN MORE than if you'd died 1v1 and if they can do it enough times it will be worth since mord gets gimped so bad by falling behind.

Issues resolved:

  1. The ghost and flash combo is saved for when it is truly needed. Personally, I prefer to keep them up for escapes most of the time, although it is good to use one or two to secure a kill.

  2. Rather than hard pushing lane early, I'll start long sword and pots (or boots and pots) and put a point into e. I save e for poke, or multiple last hits, but for the first few levels, I'll play passive, let the minions duke it out, and last hit accordingly. If the enemy comes too close, poke with e and w deactivate. This also makes the other player come to me, and not have myself up for a gank, while also giving me room to use ghost and flash to stick if no enemies are in my warded areas. 100% AGREE MORD IS NOT A TANK, LOL

  3. So very true. Luckily tho, you can roam to other teammates and last hit enemies and also use experience passive to catch up, tho casing a free lane is always my go to

On another note, Volibear support is OP

and if you escape what then? You'll still be set back and if you fail its even worse! Plus you have no teleport to get back to lane, unless youre mid in which case you'll just get ganked more before cooldowns come off by aggressive non-opportunists who 4 man gank you with strategic intent.

But if you do this, tank or not, why exactly do you pick morde if he can just not only git rek'd easy, but he can be done in under his tower? Not saying you shouldn't but this is what many ask themselves

The counters to a Voli gank all involve basically not letting him hit you:

  1. Hard CC like stun/root, obviously

  2. Continuous slow (even Crystal Scepter is often enough if you can keep pinging him while you kite) or slow with long enough duration to get out completely before he can reach you.

  3. Laying the smack on him when he's not actually ready to engage, then backing out when he he starts healing so that his passive is down for the next fight.

  4. Exhaust. It hits literally every weak point in his design concept at once.

If you intend to actually kill him, build as an HP-tank buster (% health damage and so on) and stand far enough behind your tank (who should be a CC tank if the voli showed up before him in champ select) that if you're tossed you can get back out.

Grievous wounds doesn't hurt, but I wouldn't take it first expecting it to solve all your problems. I'd grab your wounding item around the time that you start switching to team-fights, since it's harder to pull off tactic 3 when you're not running around with a tower to retreat to.

Voli is a good pick but he's hardly an auto-win pick, or unstoppable. Not even that different from any other jungler with good sticky and engage, just keep him from the early kills like a Xin or Jax and he won't be a big deal late game.

KnightOfEloHell1 votes

If I escape, I go heal in the jungle and come back, play safe, poke, and can get a double, unless ult is up and get a ghost, than I get a triple, or recall if I have no option. My mobility and burst itemization gives me good speed and shield.

Ps- I heard voli is getting nerfed? I haven't played him since the TT hydra nerf

Lovelle1 votes

They get baited by his passive and get cheesed most likely. He's very strong early game and can snowball off of one kill. I personally don't think he's that bad, especially if he doesn't manage to snowball.
