why do supports remain effortless to play

Big Lincoln··5 votes·488 views

when nearly everyone they protect their carries from has been or is going to be reworked to require some form of micro mechanic so that they have to out play you multiple times, why do supports get a pass to this modernization and always exist with the upper hand in these encounters?

it doesn't even matter if you dodge their CC half the time; the raw values of the shields and heals they can point and click dump on their ADC gives them more than enough time to chew you up with their damage. there's no counterplay; I either am fed enough that their shields don't matter or I'm not and I lose. That's it.

when will this group of champions not be completely idiot proof? besides taric thresh and rakan all of them can be on complete autopilot and still win

If they remain effortless to play, why do people complain about how bad their Auto Filled supports are?

It's the great scapegoat paradox. "Supports are braindead easy, no effort freeloaders. Oh, but my team losses every game we have an auto filled support, so remove auto fill."

because people want to throw themselves into full tilt when they get support instead of taking the free LP and picking Janna

shitty attitude toward a role doesn't make the role hard

UnboundHades2 votes

janna is basically the only support that an ape could play and win she is just so broken compared to how easy she is currently

Big Lincoln1 votes

sona, lulu, karma

majority of enchanters are autopilot, especially after all their item buffs

Best princess EU1 votes

janna can at least ruin the game with her ult

unlike point and click buffs supports like sona lulu and soraka

so goes the argument that support role and champs take no skill

Why do bruisers remain effortless to play?

Big Lincoln3 votes

majority of new bruisers have win conditions and can't afk press buttons, old ones are being reworked

expected better from u fuffy

enchenters need a rework

marksmen itemization need a nerf

OR

support itemization needs a rework because they only benefit to marksmen

Big Lincoln1 votes

I'd vote all 3

support items should focus on actives that aren't just shields and heals

and NOT bullshit passive steroids like ardent has.

marksmen need nerfs but this is a support post

Best princess EU2 votes

locket shield should be magic damage only

i don't know why a teamfight item gets to counter everything

zed ultied your adc! oh nvm, just use locket to save him

Big Lincoln1 votes

just smash all your buttons to out enough shields and heals to triple your ADCs total health

outplayed lole

I sure hope you have some suggestions. What should supports be doing that isn't healing or shielding? (Tank? Damage? other roles do that better) Currently, the only other utility items that doesn't directly bolster allies, would be Banner and Portal. (I think people would be just as pissed if Siege tools such as that are back in the meta.)

It also doesn't help that these different supports have very different kits. Enchanters really do prefer items that highlight their kit. (Like Tanks supports want more tank effects, Mage supports more damage, etc) Other support kits can function in absence of items. (And those are the supports who buy items, solely for their own utility.)

I can't take any post made by you seriously. Even if I could, someone else said what needed to be said. If it were as easy as you claim, everyone would main support and be challengers. Or games would last forever, because both sides have support and if the team with the support wins and they both have a support then nobody wins

Big Lincoln1 votes

should I care how you feel?

support is piss easy to play, neither of your arguments even make sense. this is a 5v5 game, bad players are bad and throws are still throws. none of these mean support is hard to play in any sense of the word

Yeah, see a lot of autopilot Bards, do you? Maybe the Tahm Kench revolution just hasn't hit the data being pulled onto Champion.gg

You're talking about 4 supports at most. If what you wrote was accurate, why isn't your ADC "giving you enough time to chew up the enemy."

Big Lincoln1 votes

bard is complete autopilot since the buffs he got at start of season. he's only overshadowed because he can't abuse the healing items as well as other supports

Supports have little damage and low gold income, so most of their power in in their heals, shields, or cc. They have to rely on their team to win, so their focus is actually on enabling their carries, whether by locking down opponents (Leona, Alistar, Thresh, Rakan), poking down for an all-in (Zyra, Lulu, Sona), or healing/shielding (Karma, Sona, Lulu, Raka, Janna). Some have strong disengage, like Janna, because the don't have potential for much else.

In Janna's case, she's all about disengage through Q, shield, and Ult. But she has incredibly poor to no engage power. Same with Soraka. Raka can only heal, and silence (root after delay), but nothing else, and her main heal comes at a cost to her own health.

Not to mention they have to dedicate 800g to Sightstone by default. They end up focusing more on the macro play, less on micro, because if they don't see that assassin roaming, bye bye adc. Add to that managing 3-5 item actives along with their abilities..

Lul thresh. I main enchanters. Thresh counters them all cause he needs legit one hook. And no my shield is not enough to make the trade even when my adc gets hooked. So it just depends on the point of view. I respect enchanter players way more than thresh players. Peace :]

UnboundHades2 votes

atleast the thresh has to aim skillshots

Big Lincoln1 votes

thresh counters them all but in this meta where enchanters are at the top he isn't top tier with them

hmm
