So should I just stop playing Ranked for an entire week every single time a new champ/rework drops?

Because that's what it feels like I should do. Sick of some jackass hovering shit and first-timing it in ranked, forcing me to make the choice of

  1. banning it and risking them trolling out of spite
  2. letting them play it and single-handedly lose the game
  3. dodge, forcing me to wait out a dodge timer and lose LP

just ban it, and if they troll just report them

Another option is to just ask people not to first time a newly released champion in ranked

Ban it or dont play. I sort of agree with this. theres a few things that can happen:

  1. The champion is weak and your teammate picks it
  2. The champ is op and the other team picks it
  3. Your teammate is bad at the champ

Another of these. Should I state my opinion...? Got pretty heavily downvoted last time...

... Yeah, sure, why not. If you don't like dealing with this, absolutely avoid ranked for a week or so. Because to be honest it should probably stay in. Remember, your opponents know about as much about the new champion as your teammate who picked him does. It levels off. I've seen this go horribly, and I've seen it go extremely well because the other team isn't sure how to handle him yet.

So basically, it ends up being like anything else in a game of League. Sometimes it goes really well, sometimes it goes really poorly.

Yeah, it levels off enough for the new champ to consistently have a fucking 30-40% winrate at launch.

Most champions hover around 40%, I'm not sure why this is so shocking. 30% is pretty low, but anywhere around 40% and you're in "average champion" territory. If this logic is carried to its conclusion, people will be saying only champions with a 50%+ win rate should be available to pick in ranked.

40%? 40% is extremely terrible for even the most difficult champions in the game during weak states. 50% is the average.

Quantitative amalgamation. Taking the roughly 50% average win rate of champions and quantifying the average champion's play percentage of 3 as the relative prevalence factor, the effective amalgam of dynamic values equates to a roughly 10% decrease from the nominal win rate of ~50%.

Simply put, most champions aren't played as often as the top 10%, and thus their functional win rate calculates rather lower than what sites like Champion.gg list.
