Question about Yasuo and the new IE (and it's effect on crit builds in general):

So, since new IE doubles your crit chance, and Yauo's passive doubles his crit chance, how's that work exactly?

Does it double off his “base” crit chance, or do the two effects apply to each other?

Example:

Yasuo has 25 crit chance from items (somehow)

Does he then have 50% (from passive: 25 x 2) and then 100% with IE ((25 x 2) x 2)? Or does he have 75%, because IE and his passive don’t synergize, meaning it just gives him double his base crit chance twice?

I'm not a fan of Yasuo (or his garbage-attitude fanboys), but in either case it seems like that is not going to feel good for Yasuo players.

No finished item gives 25% crit chance. All the finished crit items, iirc, give 30%.

Which means one of three things:

    1. If the effect of IE and his passive do not synergize, he only hits 90% crit chance, which would feel terrible (as all “reverse lottery” design choices tend to)
    1. If the effect of IE and his passive do synergize, then he’s stuck with 20% wasted crit chance, which kinda makes his passive seem annoyingly like it's working against you a little.
    1. He's not meant/allowed to buy IE, which would feel shitty since he has weaker crits and a passive that makes crits come up more often, combined with an ult granting armor shred.

I don’t play Yasuo often (maybe a few times a year), because his community of fans is borderline intolerable and I don’t like the (justified) extra scrutiny I get when I play him from people who know not to expect too much out of Yasuo players.

I’m not a fanboy, I’m not saying “wahhh this sucks for Yasuo wtf”

But this looks like something that would feel inherently shitty no matter how you slice it for that champion.

Not to mention, the IE change does something similar to pretty much anyone buying IE + 2 crit items to get to 100%, albeit less annoyingly because they don't have Yasuo's "double crit" passive.

I hate the ADC favoritism we’ve had to sit through for awhile now as much as the next person who pays attention to the state of the game. I hate how ADCs (and crit chance as a whole) tend to be designed, and I hate how it seems Riot always gives way more attention to their items.

That said, I think it’d feel much better for everyone buying the new IE if there were at least some options for items with 20 or 25% crit chance, especially Yasuo players.

  • “Wasted” stats never feel good, for anyone, and a champion who has crit chance as a major part of his kit (as far as item builds at least) being gimped by his own kit seems... odd.

  • Having just one item that gives 20% and one item that gives 25% crit chance would smooth things out a lot. With the current numbers everyone has as crit chance options, you can’t get to 100% crit chance without wasting gold on crit chance while buying IE, which feels shitty.

Side note: Since ADCs are going to always be problems as long as they build crit and right click you to death, it’d be really straightforward to just balance “Crit ADCs” around having 100% crit chance and specifically support that.

Then you just use crit damage or crit item accessibility as balancing levers, because those characters will get 100% crit chance every game. Definitely not a new idea, in fact it’s one that’s been shouted at Riot many times in the past to no avail, but c’mon:

  • Nobody likes RNG wins off crit.
  • “Crit ADCs” and only a slim few other champions buy crit.
  • Incentivize buying 100% crit chance (in a way that doesn’t force wasting stats on an entire group of champions), and balance as if you can expect all of those champions to have 100% crit chance after 2-3 items, every single game.

Tada, never again have to worry about the bullshit state of crit ADCs plaguing the game because “can’t balance around crit chance”.

Tbh I think that ADC thing you suggested is part of why they made ie how it is on pbe. More reliably giving 100 percent Crit to ADC means they can now balance them without making it seem like rigged RNG or something (since it used to just be standard to get 80 percent which meant weird output)

Idk but as someone who loves playing yas im worried these changes are gonna gut him, the removal of the bonus crit damage (replaced w/ true damage which yas doesnt really care about) will without doubt lower his overall DPS vs both tanks and squishies and as a squishy melee champ himself i fear yasuo will lack damage and get blown up before he can make a difference in fights.
