If you're gonna rework malzahar....

Please fix the delay on his abilities. Q is understandable, but his w, e, and R, all have a delay after cast which breaks his reliability. Go into a game as Malz and w/ e and watch as 0 dmg is dealt for a full second. This may not seem like a big deal, but it severely hinders his ability to do things like proc thunderlords/ luden's. It's so frustrating watching somebody walk out of the middle of my w and take 0 dmg.

even more frustrating is ulting an udyr and watching him stroll up to me and stun me during the huge delay it takes to actually suppress the target, not only taking 0 damage, but putting my ult on FULL COOLDOWN.

I have faith you will rework him and make us malz mains proud, but you could literally just fix this one thing and i would be happy.

Pretty sure the goal of the malzahar rework is going to be to make him LESS reliable while still feeling the same and then giving him some power to make up for it.

is it too much to ask that while somebody is standing in a pool of void to be taking damage? oh well, downvote police got me anyways, this thread might as well be deleted.

Actually only his E is reliable tbh, if they got a QSS, which you should if you are having trouble even if AP, your Q W and R are all unreliable. The goal of the rework is to make him healthier gameplay-wise, so they will make him unreliable where he need to be and reliable where he needs to be.

thank you. there's a difference between reliable and healthy. if they want him to be more healthy, then fine. but having your abilites not do damage when casted, is like having a bad AA animation like Quinn used to have. it was mechanically unreliable. fighting the game's mechanics should not be built into a kit.

Well we have different definitions of unreliable/reliable. His Q is unreliable because its a delayed skillshot, his E is reliable because it is point click guaranteed damage.

I am fairly certain his W only has a delay of 0.25 seconds before dealing damage and I am even more certain that this is intended. There is no delay on his E, it is merely that it deals damage every half second, so every other half second there is no damage. His R's delay is only the animation before suppressing, which is only long enough for someone to flash or use an instant cast ability, either way they still get suppressed (unless they are Annie and they use Tibbers with her stun).

that may be the confusion. Unreliable to me is when you have to fight the game mechanics to work properly. And the R delay is long enough for somebody like udyr or xin to walk 200ish range and stun you, knocking you out of the ult.

That is also unreliable but that is the game not the champion, also nothing in Malzahar's kit feels unreliable in that way. Everything is working properly EXCEPT for his ult as there is nothing in the tooltip or descriptions that says there is in fact a delay on his Suppress. The issue with removing it is that the delay actually creates counterplay, removing it removes counterplay and his ult absolutely needs counterplay (other than QSS or not being ulted).

Thats kind of a gross exaggeration, i have never had this problem ever. I have had Jayce knock me back with his E while more then 700 range away, I have had Shaco ult out of my ult (which causes me to ult his clone instead of him), I have had Rengar Jump at me while Suppressed and while in the air was still able to cast abilities, but i have never had someone walk at me and knock me out of my ult while suppressed. If Xin was on his third Q AA and was mid dash when you ulted, you will get knocked up. If Udyr was mid AA in Bear stance when you ulted, you will be stunned and your ult will cancel.

Riot reworks are 50/50, sometimes you get a Trundle or Karma, but its mostly just ruining your favorite champs.

Trundle rework was the definition of ruining something good. The gameplay update was nice but didn't really change much, but the lore and model update were downright disrespectful to players.

Malz is fine

E & R has a delay? What...? I'm pretty sure you just don't know how to use him.

J Epstein1 votes

has nothing to do about knowing how to use him, like i said, go to a custom game and use ur w/ e and u can see they have a delay to the damage dealt. and r is notoriously known to having a long enough delay that soembody can flash away, but the ult will still suppress. same with somebody has long enough time to be able to stun you and put your ult on full cooldown, with no dmg dealt.

Well idk about W and E, actually im pretty sure there is no delay they just do damage like every half second, but im sure the R delay is not a full second. Basically you have enough time to use 1 instant ability literally the very split second you notice his Ult animation. I don't like it personally because once someone figures it out it can be annoying to ult them, but you can play around it.

The reworks goal isn't to make him more or less reliable, they will make him healthier and as a side effect make him more reliable with more counterplay.

J Epstein1 votes

yeah, but the 1st tick of damage doesn't go off immediately like it every other ability in the game. go into a custom game and try it and you will see it.

No i play Malz a lot so i know his abilities quite well, its just not a problem usually. His W does it for a reason but its like for half a second maybe less that it doesnt do damage. From what i can tell E deals damage immediately and so does his R but there is the animation before suppressing them where no damage is dealt for obvious reasons.

malz is almost literally the only champ i play. I can't count how many times I have e'd an enemy at low health, somebody else kills that person half a second later, my e goes on full cooldown but i get no assist. That implies it doesn't deal immediate damage. Same with w. hard to argue with things that actually happen.

Yes but this is how his Kit functions, its not a glitch or a bug, this is how the coding on his abilities work. His E does immediate damage, ive both looked it up and tested it.
